Learn about the Gateway to Acadia: We now have water! A 300’ well and a hand pump make for some ice cold water onsite, It’s a little rusty in color but great for washing dishes and bathing. Space and privacy! 3 acres to yourself, sweeping views and sunsets including a glimpse of Cadillac Mountain from across the Bay. 12x12 cozy shelter! No electricity in the Timber Tent, but there are power outlets on the electric pole at the beginning of the driveway. We had the best time at this site. The views were absolutely incredible. We had better sunset views from the campsite than we even would in Acadia. Having the water, electric plug, and bathroom on site was so helpful, too. We ended up tent camping, but the little house was such an added perk, too for storage, spending time together, etc. I can’t recommend this spot enough!!

I can’t say enough great things about this spot! My dog and I stayed for two and a half months and easily could have stayed twice as long. -The location is perfect — tucked in a residential area that offers plenty of privacy and peace, yet surrounded by friendly neighbors so it never feels isolated. You’re close to everything: most Acadia trails on Mount Desert Island are within a 25-minute drive, with many even closer (10-15 minutes). Bar Harbor is just 10 minutes away, offering great restaurants, shops, boat tours, and more. -The Wi-Fi is fast and reliable — I work remotely full-time from my rig and never had a single issue, even with constant Zoom and Teams video meetings. -Scott, the host, is fantastic — friendly, responsive, and genuinely welcoming, with excellent local recommendations. -It’s also a dog-friendly spot. There’s plenty of grassy space for short walks, and the lawn was mowed weekly, which I really appreciated. -The full hookups were in excellent condition and worked perfectly. There’s even a garden hose attached to the water line for convenience. -Parking was a breeze — the site is spacious and easy to maneuver into no matter the size of your rig. I live in a 30-foot Airstream and had no trouble backing in at all. Overall, this was one of my favorite stays — private, convenient, well-maintained, and hosted by someone who truly cares. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic stay at our camper spot in Boothbay, ME. The site was spacious, peaceful, and surprisingly close to town—perfect for both relaxing and exploring. One of the highlights was the quick walk to the waters, which made morning strolls and sunrise views incredibly easy. Sunsets are only a short drive away on Ocean Point. We spent time hiking through several Boothbay Regional Land Trust preserves, which offered beautiful scenic views and a great variety of trails. Would absolutely love to come back again. Kari was great to work with. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a quiet getaway with easy access to everything Boothbay has to offer.

Great location to explore the Boothbay Harbor area. It is just the right size camp. The electric and water are great to have. We are in a campervan and only need a household plug which this site has. Stars were beautiful and night quiet. The site is private but not isolated. There is light foot, bike and car traffic. We road our bikes all around. Grimes Cove Beach, lunch at the Bluebird Ocean Point Inn, hikes Ocean Point Preserve and Linekin and Burley Preserve. Saw some eagles. We explored Boothbay Harbor area. The East Boothbay General Store has really good breakfast sandwiches and other wonderful items. We would stay again.

All I can say is wow!! I booked the camp for 4 days but was really only thinking I would stay for 2-3 and thought...what the heck, if I like it I could stay the 4 days. By day 2, I never wanted to leave. The place was incredible. The stars at night were so amazing that I didn't watch any TV or get on my phone the entire time. I can't wait to go again next year!! The camp was perfect!!! Just enough roughing it to feel like I was camping but also just enough glamp to not make me feel like I was full on camping. Absolutely perfect!!

Weekend Trip to Wild Whim Campsites

I stayed here for two nights with two other folks and we had a great time! The site is beautiful and quiet. You could hear the wind in the trees and nature all around. It was just the getaway we were looking for! Mikaela was also an excellent host! She was very responsive and took time to answer all my questions to the fullest extent. I would highly recommend this site to anyone passing through or looking to get away for a while and reconnect to nature ❤️

We brought our two dogs - the one thing I didn’t expect was to be that close to the road which does have the occasional car as the listing describes. It is not 100% private. The outhouse is super cute! You can tell a lot of thought went into it. Great place to stay to explore the Boothbay area.

Hillside Campsite South is incredibly convenient for anyone wanting access to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor! There are two sites next to each other that are spacious and level with easy access in and out. The host Scott is very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. The site itself is actually part of a hotel in Bar Harbor, so you have access to the laundry facilities and pool at the hotel. Some folks may not like that the water pressure can vary (not sure if that's dependent on if the neighbors were using water, but there were times when the pressure would drop very low) and garbage needs to be taken to a dumpster about 5 minutes away (not a big deal). Otherwise, you can walk or bike into Hull's Cove on sidewalks and even access the Carriage roads of Acadia! Highly recommend this site!
