When this area was originally settled, the farm was located on the "highway" from Camden to seasonal pastures in Lincolnville. The trails leading to the park still go by the old foundations that dotted the old Government Road from Camden. The farm has 46 acres of flowing pasture, hardwood forest and flower and vegetable gardens. Learn more about this land: You'll arrive at our barn and home, probably greeted by a variety of animals. Walking past the pond and through the field towards the tree line, you'll arrive at our tiny cabin situated on a hill with the salt marsh below. The cabin is furnished with a full sized futon, a wooden bench, beehive working woodstove, and shelving. There are candle lanterns provided, however we suggest also bringing a few flashlights. Depending on the season we have farm vegetables and eggs available, kayaks available upon request to use to explore the salt marsh and harbors right out in front of the cabin. A short drive and you can find numerous hiking areas and beaches or take the longer 1 hour and 15 min ride to Bar Harbor. The cabin is not visible to the main house, though sound may travel. You'll have a beautiful view of the water facing west for sun sets. We access the water and trails around the fields foraging for berries with our kiddos and dogs, along with rotating the grazing animals and will provide ample space to respect your privacy. A small gas grill and cooler can be provided, Cabin has no electric or running water. Water can be accessed from the main house and/or barn pumps depending on season, however will need to be brought down to cabin. Outhouse is located nearby.

These are very refreshing (chilly!) and strong tidal waters. There are also beautiful (warmer) lakes and many hiking trails nearby, notably the Cutler Bold Coast Trail with epic seaside cliffs. Expect the area to be relatively buggy in summer months, and prepare to do head-to-toe tick checks! We’re about a 10 minute drive from the town of Machias where you can fill up on supply and provisioning needs. We're about 30 minutes from Lubec and 50 minutes from Eastport, two lovely seaside towns with art galleries, cafés, restaurants, and abundant coastal view points. Great spot! Lots of details thought of with the firepit grill and utensils including marshmallow roasting sticks. Loved the counter and mushroom stools! Wouldn’t feel comfortable in windy weather just due to the shallow rooted trees- but it’s a beautiful spot! Reminded me of camping on the Olympic peninsula.

We had the best time at this site. The views were absolutely incredible. We had better sunset views from the campsite than we even would in Acadia. Having the water, electric plug, and bathroom on site was so helpful, too. We ended up tent camping, but the little house was such an added perk, too for storage, spending time together, etc. I can’t recommend this spot enough!!

Weekend Trip to Cabin of the Woods at Tilden Pond

Robert's cabin at Tilden Pond is a wonderfully secluded get away spot with a beautiful woods walk (15mins) to the pond. We were happy about being able to park next to the cabin for easy unloading of gear. We liked making meals over a camp stove we brought and at the fire pit to calls of loons and owls. We brought our own tent but opted to stay in the cabin on the cots provided, which were comfortable with our sleeping pads and bags. Our dog loved having the woods to romp in unleashed. The sunset at the pond was a highlight. On a future trip we hope to take advantage of the double kayak. We saw others kayaking, sailing, and fishing off in the distance. Robert has done a good job repairing the road recently but it is important to have a truck or vehicle with good clearance to drive in. We loved having both Belfast and Camden only minutes away.

Maple leaf campsite is so lovely! It’s private, quiet, and comfortable, with a very short walk from the parking spot. The built in raw wood bar and benches are super useful without compromising the woodsy vibe. We will be coming back next time we’re in Maine. Highly recommend!!

Great spot near Camden ME. Very quiet camping location. We were welcomed by a friendly dog. There’s a trail off the property that leads to a beautiful lookout view.

Weekend Trip to Camping With Wolves, Acadia Area

We had a phenomenal time car camping under the stars here. Heather was a phenomenal host and saved (quite possibly MADE) our trip. A last minute booking led to one of our favorite memories together. We lit a fire and stargazed in her peaceful yard. Heather provided everything we needed to make the night unforgettable. Would definitely recommend you make staying here a priority. We can’t wait to come back.
