What’s not to love about camping just a short walk from an incredible brewery? Turtleback Ridge Farm is a fantastic host for the Kentucky Open Road Race Series, and I had the privilege of camping there the night before a race. Although the weather was dreary and the rain relentless, the property still offered a peaceful, spacious spot to pitch a tent and rest up undisturbed. I didn’t get to fully appreciate the farm’s beauty this time, but I’m already looking forward to a return visit. Highly recommend to anyone in search of a laid-back, convenient campsite in the area!

It's absolutely gorgeous out there - perfectly peaceful and enough to do at camp to keep busy. David was an amazing host - always had fresh coffee for us and a morning chat. Gave lots of great local suggestions! The yurt is very comfortable - it rained every single night and we stayed nice and dry. Despite the wet weather, it's been one of the best trips I've been on in quite awhile. The vibe can't be beat ♡

2 nights at Treehouses, Off the Grid!

Staying in a tree house has always been a dream of mine, and this one was fabulous. The house was great as was the area surrounding: fire pit, hammock and swing. We spent many hours on the trails and especially enjoyed Jacob's Ladder trail. There was peace of mind knowing the whole property was fenced in. We felt very safe and our dog loved walking the trails off leash with us. Bad weather rolled in our last night, and Shelly was very communicative, making sure we were aware of the watches and warnings, and giving options for where to head if we felt we were in danger.

We loved camping at the Longhall. David was an excellent host. Our guild had a total of about 14 ppl visiting. Everything was super comfy. Stayed warm with the heaters in under 32 degree weather, had electric with the generator. Kitchen area was well stocked. It was all the little things that made the place amazing. Like finding easter eggs until the moment we left. We played DnD, shot archery and practiced fencing. It was a great time. We definitely intend on coming back.

Cozy little cabin on an absolutely breathtaking piece of land!! Especially with all the rain lately, the waterfalls were really flowing! The beds in the cabin were super comfortable and we all slept great. Liz and her husband were so nice and very helpful!!

Betty Sue, and I loved staying @ Nola’s cabin, it’s the perfect place to stay out of the elements, it offers everything you need to have a peaceful, relaxing stay. The 🌲pine trees are absolutely beautiful. My next visit I will bring my paints and sit on the porch and paint 🎨 My 100 # Cane Corso dog BettySue though she was in seventh Heaven! We both enjoyed our stay at John’s, Bear Pond property and they were perfect host. Thank you! We be back ASAP✌️

I’ll absolutely go back the peace calm and composter toilet were amazing! My engineer brain wanted to use one of the future composter building by the barn and convert to a byoW shower/clean self room. Too many good options to bring your own but sucks to not have that lockable door. Property is a lot. Less woods than Id want however the fields are for crops and I like rocks! I wanted to be in the creek daily wasn’t sure where the line was in that but 10/10 for the cost and it being what I needed. If your not a hunter just know folks are hunting it’s normal and not creepy lol

Bear pond is a must visit!! It was so peaceful out there. The night sky is beautiful out and John has the shelter equipped with all you need. It was down to 10 degrees one night but I was perfectly warm in the shelter. Highly recommended!

Had a great time with some friends at the sunset ridge tent site. Property was beautiful and lots of trails to explore. We went down to the creek to check out the caves and rock formations. Would highly recommend this site if you’re looking for a place to hike and explore.

We had a great time at the Longhall this weekend. It was cold all weekend, but we kept the heaters in the lodge running and we were nice and cozy during our whole trip. David kept an eye out on us and did a great job making sure we were comfortable during our whole trip. We are looking forward to going back again soon.

Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife around but no hunting is allowed. Our designated tent sites do have firepits and picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Pets are welcome for $10 per pet/per booking and they do need to be leashed/under control at all times. This is an extra so please be sure to add that if you plan to bring your pet. Please pick up after them. We are a short driving distance from West Liberty, Cave Run Lake, Grayson Lake, Carter Caves, Morehead, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge. We are approximately 20 minutes from the nearest store so you'll want to come prepared. We are located in West Liberty (Morgan County). There is a centrally located bathhouse with toilet, shower and sink and a hose for potable water. The Viking Longhall

The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen. The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also. The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities. The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles. Ohio River experience

California, Ohio is a community on the Ohio River about a twenty minute drive upstream from Cincinnati. Actually the eastern-most neighborhood of Cincinnati, it has it's own small town or quaint village atmosphere. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California boasts several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbend, a music venue in season, is a mile away, possible walking distance, as is Belterra, a race track and casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the Wild and Scenic Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. If watching baseball leagues play games is your cup of tea, there is a large sports complex with ball fields in California. A town park with trees and large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. Nearby, and right the Wild and Scenic Little Miami River is Armleder Park, also with walking and biking trails which also connect to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport. I have two properties which offer two different kinds of camping, which I have itemized separately in the Hipcamp listings. RV Campers will park on the upper level at the Panama Street address , and have one set of amenities. It is a short walk lead down to the Ohio River where there is a small patio with table and chairs overlooking the river. Tent campers set up their tents right beside the river and have a different set of amenities, as itemized on this website. It's an unusual set up, as perhaps Hipcamper spots often are. It is interesting and relaxing to watch the barges and pleasure boats go by. On one hand I feel like I am in the middle of nowhere when I am on these (small, very not fancy) properties by the river. On the other, there are planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and motorcycles passing by at times. The River can be mesmerizing and serene, shimmering in the western sun, or busy with weekend pleasure boats and barge traffic. Take a walk around town, then sit by the river and watch the boats go by. Relax, set up your grill and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Ohio River. Perfect for river rats. Downtown Cincinnati is 15 or 20 minutes away with no traffic, and there are two or three ways to get there. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati. My place in California is just a few minutes from the I 275 exit.

Ohio River Private Paradise

You can drive your vehicle right down to the sites. The farm is flat and easily navigated as long as it is dry. There will be a 5 gallon cooler of potable water for you to use. More water is available if we are at the property. We have 2 outhouses located on either end of the property. This is a primitive camp. Please pack out all your trash and leave no trace. 2 kayaks with paddles and life jackets are available for an additional fee, but we need ample notice. Firewood is plentiful by the river in the form of driftwood. We have some wood under a black tarp by the pavilion fire pit available for an additional fee. We have one neighbor who can make some noise with ORVs especially on weekends. Activities in the area include: 4 nature preserves The Conservancy properties Adams Lake State Park Lynx Prairie Serpent Mound Cedar Falls Moondoggie Livery Shawnee State Park Shawnee State Forest with over 60,000 acres and 8.000 acres of wilderness. Marshall Road runs through the bottom third of our property making a secluded area along Decoursey Creek that feels like a you're way out in the woods, yet not far from the city. Our canvas tent is situated under large mature trees, secluded from the road. An open field located on the property along Decoursey Creek, which brings in a variety of flora and fauna. This 12 foot canvas bell tent is sure to take relaxation to the next level. Within this tent, a queen size memory foam mattress, lightweight sheets, extra blankets and paired with two firm and two soft pillows are provided. The door way is a double zip closure. For cooking, a gas burner and a small gas grill, a cast iron skillet along with acacia wood plates and bowls, utensils, and knives are available for use. For fresh coffee in the morning, an enamel Percolator and mugs are provided. An extra large cooler (100 gal) for your cold items is available outside of the tent. Please bring your own camping equipment if needing any items outside of what's listed. For your bathroom needs, we are currently building a bath house. It does have a fully functional toilet and sink using water catchment. The shower is not complete, will be in the coming weeks. Please bring water for drinking and brushing teeth. Toilet paper, hand soap and sanitizer will be provided. In addition to firelight from the campfire, the tent is lit by battery-powered a LED lantern, battery operated candles, decor and a pair of solar lamps. No electric is available at this site currently. One battery operated fan is provided. First load of wood is included with your reservation. $7 per bundle if you need more. We use the honor system for this, please send any extra money through HipCamp if more wood is used. We provide fire starting materials and a lighter, fire extinguisher is located in the trunk within the tent. Parking area is close to the tent, yet not right next to it. A large rolling cart is provided to help with getting belongings to and from the parking area. Please only park and drive on graveled area. Creekside Hideaway is nestled on Decoursey Creek, you will have access to the bottom area of the property along the creek. Rock steps have been put in along the creek for easy access down to the creek. This property is partially wooded, and has an open field as well. We are always pet friendly, but you must maintain control of your pets and you are responsible for them at all times. Decoursey creek is a natural waterway. It is frequented by wildlife and can be contaminated by runoff from local farms. DO NOT drink the water. Make sure to wash your hands after they have been in the water before eating and drinking. Pink tape on trees are to mark the approximate property lines, please remain within the property. The creek is part of the property but please do not go to the far bank, as the creek marks our property line.

Loving Farm is a 6 acre working flower farm and nature preserve in the heart of Nepton, Kentucky (within Ewing). Bordered by Johnson Creek and a railroad, supposedly being revived. TBD. Marietta and Perriee (aka, "The Girls") are a happily married couple who are the current caretakers of the land and live in the house on the property. Half of the property, along the creek, is currently being nature-scaped after not mowing it since 2022. Since then, we have been maintaining mowed pathways and planting seeds, trees, and vegetables that can be found in pockets along the way. The revitalization has led to a resurgence of sunchokes, golden rod, and other native species, in addition to some ragweed, which we have been managing diligently as the space matures. Camp sites are located in this part of the property, mostly along the creek. We also have a White Duck bell tent that is on a deck that overlooks the trails, which can be reserved as well. Our home is also on the property, along the railroad, where our more cultivated gardens are located. We have cats and ducks on the property and appreciate not having other animals from guests, out of respect for their comfort. There is a porta-potty on site and a Trelino composting toilet for guest use in the flower studio bathroom. The flower studio has a bathtub and is plumbed with city water. Cold water is available from an outdoor spigot 24-7. This space is used by Perriee and Marietta for flower storage, seed starting, and baking for events and will remain accessible to guests while staying for the use of bathroom. We would ask you not cook or store food in the kitchen as we use it for business purposes, but the space does have an air conditioner in the event someone needs to cool off. Regardless, it is likely that you will run into another guest here, and cross paths with one of us while working in the studio during the day. The Nepton Warehouse, located on the property, is visible from the road and is used for events here on the farm. We will let you know if an event will be happening during your stay in the event that you want to come during a quieter time. Nepton is a great community with the rural feel you are looking for if you want to camp in nature but be a little closer to people. Cars pass, the hospital is close, but the cicadas hum, the stars are bright, and the sky is big and beautiful. Be sure to check out the following attractions if you are interested in something to do while here: Turtleback Ridge Brewery (also on Hipcamp for an overnight), Yoder's Dinner Bell Market, look for the Honey sign around the corner at Ellessare Farm, stop at Nepton Greenhouse and say hello to Nancy and Daniel, and of course shop at the Fleming County Farmer's Market during the season (open Tuesday evening and Saturday mornings).

Fire ring and dry barrel for your convenience has been established. hiking trails to a water feature to cool off and gather water for your campsite (non-potable). Another trail takes you to breath taking cliff walls and pools that create the creek bottom. Listen to the local wildlife and enjoy the seclusion. The camp offers a spot for two tents. Trails have been cleared, but the hike is a moderate level climb.

Primitive camping with trails, and a creek. Located at the end of E John’s St. In Blanchester Ohio. Very peaceful, and beautiful. Close to downtown restaurants and shopping, but feels like you are out in the wilderness. You must bring your own camp toilet, this is very primitive. It is not uncommon to see natural wildlife such as deer, squirrel, and raccoon. Fishing is permitted (largest one caught was 6”). Responsible fire welcome, firewood can be purchased on site. Several hiking trails on site.

Possum Ridge Ranch

Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife around but no hunting is allowed. Our designated tent sites do have firepits and picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Pets are welcome for $10 per pet/per booking and they do need to be leashed/under control at all times. This is an extra so please be sure to add that if you plan to bring your pet. Please pick up after them. We are a short driving distance from West Liberty, Cave Run Lake, Grayson Lake, Carter Caves, Morehead, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge. We are approximately 20 minutes from the nearest store so you'll want to come prepared. We are located in West Liberty (Morgan County). There is a centrally located bathhouse with toilet, shower and sink and a hose for potable water. We have firewood for sale for $15 per bundle and is an extra option when booking(use what you need during your stay and it is located at the tent sites), you can bring your own and you are welcome to gather from the surrounding area but please do not cut down any living trees/limbs.

The Viking Longhall

The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen. The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also. The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities. The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles. Come out and share the land that we have loved for the last 30 years PLEASE NOTE….WE WILL NO LONGER BE SUPPLYING BEDDING OR TOWELS.

Ohio River Private Paradise

Enjoy our private paradise with over 800 feet of riverfront on 17 acres along the banks of the beautiful Ohio River. We have a great landing for fishing, swimming, or kayaking. The sunsets are fantastic and the night sky incredible! Behold the barges passing by on the river as you unwind and relax in the peacefulness of nature! This is a primitive camp with three sites available for you to consider. We are dog friendly and allow all supervised, friendly dogs to be off leash. Some things to know: We will provide a key code close to your arrival time so you can enter the gate by the road. If you are coming by river, we will put a flag on our landing. You can drive your vehicle right down to the sites. The farm is flat and easily navigated as long as it is dry. There will be a 5 gallon cooler of potable water for you to use. More water is available if we are at the property. We have 2 outhouses located on either end of the property. This is a primitive camp. Please pack out all your trash and leave no trace. 2 kayaks with paddles and life jackets are available for an additional fee, but we need ample notice. Firewood is plentiful by the river in the form of driftwood. We have some wood under a black tarp by the pavilion fire pit available for an additional fee. We have one neighbor who can make some noise with ORVs especially on weekends. Activities in the area include: 4 nature preserves The Conservancy properties Adams Lake State Park Lynx Prairie Serpent Mound Cedar Falls Moondoggie Livery Shawnee State Park Shawnee State Forest with over 60,000 acres and 8.000 acres of wilderness.
