When you want to get away to nature, what do you envision? We're a family that loves to camp; and while we love a stop at a KOA or community campground, we sometimes crave quiet time in nature without the noise and distraction of other campers.
That's what makes The LAAAAND so special. The property is comprised of 50 pristine acres, with a mix of fields and woods, that bump up against another 250 acres owned by our family friends. The southern perimeter of the property is all cliff line, so you feel truly remote. The possibilities of sound pollution are limited to a far-off dog barking, horses being ridden down a nearby trail, or the possible hum of a distant lumber yard. Other than that, you'll mostly hear the wind rustling trees, deer and critters making their way through the woods, and possibly a waterfall at certain times of the year. Over the nearly 2 decades we've owned this property we have spent countless weekends enjoying the simplest of pleasures; watching butterflies dance in the tree canopy, having dance parties at sunset on the deck, forging new trails and hiking into the unkown, sitting in the truck bed late at night gazing at a star-covered sky counting shooting stars.

Roaring Shoals is a family farm. This campsite is a double capacity with full hookup, located in a rural community halfway between Jackson and Salyersville on Highway 30 East. The site is close to the road; however there is much woodland to explore located on the property. We have small waterfall and a natural rock formation that can be hiked to. There is a shoal a very short walk from the campsite that is a wonderful place to enjoy the creek! There is great cellular service if your device uses Verizon towers, as there is a tower on the property. This is the perfect place to come and relax if you are visiting the area. It is approximately 12 miles from a small town with local restaurants and convenience stores. Our farm raised , dry aged black angus beef can be purchased if available; please check availability by calling a few days prior to your stay. You may also purchase firewood that was harvested from our property which is a certified tree farm. Our cattle are raised on another of our properties located a few miles up the road. We would be happy to schedule a time to take you there to see where they are born and raised.

Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife but NO hunting is allowed. Some of our designated tent sites do have firepits and/or picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. For insurance purposes and the safety of our own livestock and pets, we do not allow guests to bring their pets/ESAs onto the property. Prepare to UNPLUG as we do not have cell service or wifi (there IS a landline for guests to make phone calls located in the Community Farmhouse).
All guests from tent to treehouse have access to our solar-powered Community Farmhouse featuring a fully-stocked chef-inspired kitchen, restrooms, coin-op laundry, and upstairs multi-purpose room with a library and board games. There is also an outdoor kitchen area with additional cooking space including a grill, microwave, and sink (sink is closed in the winter so the pipes don’t freeze). Next to the Farmhouse is a massive pavilion with picnic tables for al fresco dining and firewood bundles to purchase. BRING CASH!
Our seasonal bath house is generally open from April or May to October or November based on the prevailing temps. There are 4 flush toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 hot showers. The floors are concrete so we recommend shower shoes and you'll want to bring your own towels and shampoo/soap.
The farm has a small playground, yard games, creeks, and a steep and rugged hiking trail that loops the mountain. We're also just 8 miles from the hiking trails at the Berea College Pinnacles, 8 miles to Owsley Fork Reservoir, 20 minutes to Anglin Falls, 12 miles to Berea, 35 minutes to Richmond, Ky, and a scenic hour to Red River Gorge.

As you enter the camp you will cross a bridge and are welcomed by two majestic hillsides onto the 35 acre property. These hills have a variety of trails from rustic to groomed, which are open to foot traffic only. On the trails you will find many species of vegetation and natural resources, which range from easy, moderate to strenuous, distances vary, short hikes take minutes. A few hikes take longer and have more strenuous terrain.
There are native trees, which includes Tulip Poplar, (the Kentucky state tree), giant oaks (hundreds of years old), several variety of pine trees, holly, hemlock, beech, ironwood, sassafras, box elder and maple. Take a walk, take pictures and bring a picnic lunch. In the summer there are beautiful flowering goldenrod, and many pollinators and addition forest wildflowers all year. These pollinator magnets definitely lure numerous birds and insects for your viewing pleasure. There are beautiful rock ledges to enjoy as well.
CAMPSITES: #1 The RV campsite is easily accessed from the highway and includes water, electricity, septic dump station, shower, restroom and high speed internet. Cross over the bridge, entrance is limited to shorter trailers under 30 feet. Turn left and cross over a small creek and arrive at your site. Park in the designated area. Video surveillance is on site.
Two sites are available on a scenic overlook with an outdoor toilet nearby. Site #2 has a furnished Whiteduck 16' bell tent and site #3 is a rustic area and your choice of spot.
Stop in after a day on the trails, cliffs or Cave Run lake in the area. Pitch a tent and sleep under a display of stars, especially if you are on the ridgeline.

This was our first Hipcamp experience and now that we have done it once we can’t wait to go again! I definitely preferred the remote sites to the one that was right up close to the road that had a full hook up. It was private and our kids absolutely loved it. Fishing, campfire, exploring serenity Falls. It doesn’t get much better! Navigating could be a little confusing at first, so don’t hesitate to reach out to the owner to get more specific information.

This site was such a treat! The covered spot was very spacious and the bathroom was very clean. They trully though of everything. There was two hammocks, a swing, a line with two dog chains attatched, and even some board games to play. We will certainly stat at thos area again in the future!

Beautiful property! My husband and I brought our two dogs for a peaceful weekend in our travel trailer. The location had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed several hiking trails in the area, grilled delicious meals under the large shelter, and relaxed by the fire with a perfect view of the stars. Our group included a set of grandparents and a family of 4 with two toddlers. This was a private campground in a quiet area. Some campsites had electrical outlets that were not compatible with our setup, but we located ones that were. There was a play area for the kids with a bit of play equipment suitable for different age groups, and a horseshoe pit. The resident dogs were friendly and visited our sites each morning. The owner was friendly and helpful and made sure we were settled in and had what we needed. If you are looking for a quiet out-of-the-way campsite, not too many frills but all you need for a fun camping experience, as opposed to more modern, bustling camping experience, then this quaint campground is for you!

I just got back from a 3 night stay at Savys Retreat and I’m already planning my next trip. It’s in a beautiful part of Kentucky, especially in the fall. The property sits down a dead end road, single lane but well maintained, and it’s one of the last places out there so it’s quiet, private, and peaceful.
Everything about the site is well thought out and taken care of. You can tell the owners take pride in it. The setup felt more like an RV resort than a campsite, plenty of space, clean, and everything you could need. I spent my evenings sitting by the fire watching the sunset, then stayed out until the stars came out. Hard to beat that.
The hosts were quick to respond, friendly, and made sure everything was just right.
If you’re looking for a relaxing, private spot to unwind, this is it.

There are creeks, cliffs, rock walls, and more. The flat spot for an RV is plenty large enough for our little 17' RV, a table, and fire. Getting in and out with a large RV might be more of a challenge due to the layout. We pulled in on the right side of the hookups, and turned as far away from the road we could, but you really can't turn away from the completely. Maybe if you back in and cut just past the hookups? A larger RV might need to back in? Highway 11 is pretty noisy during the day (but has little traffic at night) as it is elevated from the campsite. The tent areas were probably quieter. The kids enjoyed the visits from the friendly dog, and we had another dog go on a hike with us. We got to pet the horses.
15 Minutes from Natural Bridge and driving distance to plenty of other Red River Gorge area hikes and sites.
No picnic table provided (clearly noted in amenities), so bring a table with you!

My 5 nights here were awesome! It's out in the woods on a curvy mountain road on the side of a hill with a level packed gravel site under a cover. The dead end road to it is 1 lane with few neighbors and is very peaceful. The covered site and the half bath were great. Absolutely the best Hipcamp out of the 7 I have stayed at for sure. Squirrels barking in the trees, and hoot owls at night, and a great firepit with wood......a great place to chill out and unwind! I will definitely be back next Spring with my Harley to ride the awesome twisty, curvy mountain roads in the area! I hiked Turkey Foot, West and East Pinnacle trails and Flat Rock trail. It's 20 minutes to Berea with many places to shop and eat.

We just took our little renovated camper out for the very first time, and this spot could not have been more perfect. What a magical place! It was private, spacious, and such a wonderful fit for myself, my husband, and our two-year-old. The bathroom with a toilet and sink was such a welcome addition—such a convenience that made things so much easier.
We loved having a fire, slowing down, and just enjoying the quiet. It was incredibly peaceful—you couldn’t hear cars or any outside noise, just the stillness of nature. Exactly what we were hoping for. Truly the perfect getaway.

This camp site is well laid out, so private, and peaceful. We hadn't camped in a long time and wanted to be some place we could take our dog and just be away from the noise. This was it. Clean, well taken care of, and even though it's a bit off the beaten path, it's still not too far from Berea if you want to shop or go hiking. There's so much space you don't feel closed in. Rare thing at a campsite. The last few miles of the drive are narrow and winding so be prepared for that.

Savvy's retreat was the absolute best thing about our Summer! Beautiful getaway with my hubby, dog and RV loving cat. Cristhian and Christy have thought of everything! Electric and water hookup, hammocks to chill in, amazing fire pit. Savvy's has it all for a relaxing, fun time! Definitely on the "go back there" list! :)
