Our 360-acre family farm—held by our family for nearly 80 years—has been transformed from a tree grove and a former highway borrow pit into a welcoming campground.
We’ve built two structures on the property, including a shop with a restroom and a cozy porch where my wife and I enjoy evenings watching deer and other wildlife. What began as a spot for family camping has grown into a campground we’re now opening to guests.
Campsites range from electric-hookup sites for convenience to primitive sites for those who want to unplug and enjoy quiet time in nature.
Beyond relaxing, guests can fish and paddle-boat on our pond or access the nearby Volga River for canoeing and kayaking. The Volga River State Recreation Area is just 10 miles away and offers additional fishing, boating, hiking, and horseback-riding opportunities.
Update: So far this spring we haven't seen any fish in our pond. We don't know what happened to them and if fishing on the pond will be possible this year.

Place was amazing set up right by the river they had power and water wright there . When we pulled in they were working and Mark came and said hello and gave us the run down of the place his wife also brought us a map of where we could ride .They also had miles of trails to walk or ride down. We had brought our Utv with and had a blast on them. I also tried fishing I had several big bits I ended up catching a Northern pike 3 feet long. There is also a place called Fossil park 10 mins away very cool places we spent 2 hrs there. All I know is we will be back now one of are favorite places to stay in Iowa. 10 stars.

This was a gem of a find. We booked this last minute, and Ryan was incredibly responsive and welcoming. The place is immaculate and well-kept and it is clear they have put thought into the layout and to the amenities for RVers. We were the only ones staying that night. We were able to walk around and enjoy the tree farm and play with the dogs. It was a super peaceful night. What a beautiful place! It is worth the 10 mile trek off of 35 for such a peaceful lovely place with water and electric!
Bonus there is a free RV dump station in Iowa Falls, right next to the armory. Huge pull in and easy access for any size RV.

We stopped at Sue’s for an overnight stay on our way from Indiana to Minnesota. We prefer staying where we aren’t in a typical campground setting. This stay was exactly that. We were greeted upon arrival, and assisted with filling our fresh water tank. Our 33ft travel trailer was easy to maneuver and set up on their perfectly level spot. We were able to keep our rig hooked up for an easy departure the following morning. This property is absolutely stunning. We will be coming back through in late summer and can’t wait to see the beautiful flowers when they are in full bloom. We enjoyed great conversation with Sue and her husband. We will stay here again and this is highly recommended if you prefer an overnight stay that isn’t your typical cramped KOA or Stare Park experience.

Our trip to Roy's acres was the precursor to an amazing camping anniversary road trip and Roy's acres didn't disappoint. It was the perfect way to comfortably get our first camp night bug out of our system. It was clean, had electricity in the site we chose and strung lights that made for amazing ambiance. While there was no shower (which they are currently remedying) the restrooms were extremely clean and had flush toilets.
The camp his host Steve was not only friendly and inviting but supplied us with free wood. I would definitely recommend it for a quick stay or long one if your wanting a comfortable clean hip camp.

Steve and Ellen were absolutely amazing during the entirety of our stay. Their help and welcoming personality gave us the best weekend getaway. Steve was generous and allowed us to use his paddle boat on the beautiful pond and wood for the campfire. Keep a good eye out at night for a clear sky of stars. Had a great time on this acre, fishing, camping, cooking, and all. Highly recommend!
