We open year-round!! We believe each season has its special nature-beauty, so we open year-round. The property name is Tri-pond Farm. This secluded, beautiful, pet-friendly 40 acres of fenced farm camping site is on hilly-pond land and is rare in Iowa, with a view of 3.5 private fishing ponds and a far view of the Red Rock Lake. There are 10 acres nature timber area that keep you away from the other campers and the rest of the world. Each site has a firepit, picnic table, and a solar light. The drinking water is at the entrance, but no electricity on. There are tons of natural features, you may see deer, rabbits, and other game birds by your campsite. Each camping sites have good distance to keep privacy from each other.
A recently built 20ft diameter geodesic glamping dome tent is for those who want a more climate-controlled stay while still enjoying the magnificent gifts.
For surrounding areas, the nearby White Breast Beach is open from May 23 to September 3, 2026, with boating, hunting, and hiking activities in Lake Red Rock. For our campers' safety, any hunting activities are not allowed within our camping ground. However, in case you come hunting with Iowa hunting tags, a couple of public hunting grounds are near our camping ground.
The recently built glamping geodesic Dome tent is located on top of a hill. You will have a fantastic sunset view of ponds and a lake view while enjoying the great nature and having a comfortable stay.
The cell phone signals are good from most providers; you may use your cell phone hotspot work remotely at this astonishing Lake Red Rock Oasis ^_^.

A little history of this land:
These 40 acres of land were a surface mining site. The reclamation works done
during the 1970s. But over the years, the soil was seriously eroded. Anna and Peilin, who have Master's and PhD in soil and environmental health backgrounds, bought this land several years ago and started to restore the vegetation. Now the site looks beautiful and ready for the nature lovers and campers to enjoy the fantastic view of the lake, ponds, hills, and tall grass, Butterflys... The site is totally different from what Google Maps shows now.

Please understand that our property is a working farm, and our staff are often busy working on projects and have full careers, outside of farming. We do not have the same amenities as a public campground or "all inclusive" camp resort. Instead, we offer your wandering heart a place to rest.
All travel to the farm is on paved roads, with no confusing dirt roads to navigate. The property is located near the small community of Runnells, Iowa in rural Camp Township. Enjoy a cold beer or hot food at one of the two local taverns, or check out the local ice cream shop or our local farmer's market on Tuesday evenings during the summer. Don't worry if you forget something! We have a nearby gas station and a general store.

Amy, our own resident biologist, will give you an opportunity to learn about livestock husbandry and the local wildlife. The farms orchard boasts several wild bird feeding stations, with edible landscaping!

Learn about carpentry and welding from a master fabricator, or book an adventure to learn about gardening, poultry care, horsemanship, beekeeping and even falconry! Off-site, but nearby opportunities: miles of scenic hiking and biking trails, kayaking and fishing. The Iowa State Fair Grounds and Adventureland Waterpark is only 20 minutes away, along with big city fine dining, music and art museums are all less than a thirty miles drive; when you need a break from camping and nature.
Fee based transportation is available for guests flying in or needing a break from driving, or whenever you need a quick trip into town.

Your hosts are here if you need us, but we leave you to enjoy this beautiful place at your own pace.
This is "socks and shoes, jeans and boots" kind of camping. You're visiting wild places and a working perennial farm, so please dress appropriately for your optimal enjoyment. If you go off trails and other mowed places, you increase your chances of contact with poison ivy, wild parsnip and ticks. Please research these ahead of time and be prepared. We live here and encounter them frequently without more than a slight inconvenience.

Rolling Acres Farm is a 17-acre oasis and sanctuary in a sea of corn and soybeans. Larry grew up on this land, which we now steward. The farm has been managed using organic practices for over 50 years and provides habitat for birds, mammals, and bees.
We're conveniently located just 1.5 miles off Interstate 80, making us an easy stop for travelers.
The campsites are on flat, grassy ground with 110-volt electrical hookups and a water hydrant supplied by our private well. Because our farm has been organically certified, our 160-foot-deep well has been tested for E. coli and nitrates for the past 20 years. Our water is very safe, though it is high in iron. The campsites are located in an area where we once grew vegetables, near an old orchard and the pastures where we graze sheep. We also offer spaces in our large farmyard.
Elk Horn, a charming Danish village, is just up the road and home to the Museum of Danish America and Thomas Dambo's Troll Fjord Faerge.

We were apprehensive about what we'd find for camping in the middle of Iowa, but Denise and Larry set a phenomenal tone for our trip. It was a nice peaceful place to set up, especially for the low price, but there are some things that you simply can't put a price on. Bella, their angel of a Golden Retriever, stayed with us for the whole evening, and slept next to our tent at night, keeping us safe. The cats, Pepper and Juliet, were also so friendly and happy we were there. But most importantly, Larry and Denise are some amazing people that it was a genuine pleasure to meet. They've made a beautiful life through their work and their cultivation of a multigenerational farm, and the experience of meeting them will stick with us for a long time. Cannot recommend enough.

The host greeted me upon arrival as stated in the welcome message. I was directed to a location beside a grain bin with a view of a bean field.
It was quiet and serene, peaceful and it was just what I needed.
There is power water and trash bin on site.
Took my dog for a walk along the county road, we only can across one car and it was the host.
I will definitely stay here again should we be passing this way.

What an absolute gem! This place is incredibly peaceful, and the hosts are some of the warmest, most welcoming people you’ll ever meet. The grain bin hangout area with the swings is such a unique touch, and it becomes downright magical in the evening when the string lights come on. We loved exploring the property with its charming old tractors and relaxing atmosphere—there’s just an amazing vibe everywhere you look. We felt right at home and honestly didn’t want to leave. This place is simply amazing! The whole area is surrounded by fields of wildflowers, and I saw wildlife everywhere! Deer and swans were near the pond in the morning, and at sunset I was serenaded by a chorus of frogs! I could hear pheasants cackling not far away—everything just felt magical. The host were welcoming, and I can tell they take such pride in their land. The grassy areas for camping were freshly mowed, and they allowed me to walk their nature paths. Thank you for such an amazing stay!! I can’t wait to come back next month!

What a laid-back and welcoming place to stop and reset before the Badlands! This couple, having traveled widely, know how to create a space for people to recharge. We enjoyed dinner under the grainzebo, used the fantastic laundry room, had great showers, and had easy hookups. Kelly and his granddaughter chatted with us as we all enjoyed the seating area he has created. The yard accommodates several rvs, though we felt we had space and privacy around our van. Kelly is industrious and creative on his property, which is inspiring, and talking with him was really enjoyable. We would happily return and wholeheartedly recommend this family-style setting to any kind of traveler.

This place is by far the best private campsite we have ever experienced! We had an excellent stay and would absolutely recommend this Hipcamp to anyone looking for a peaceful, serene, well-maintained place to camp. The host was friendly, welcoming, and communicated everything clearly before we arrived. The campsite was exactly as described—clean, private, beautiful, natural, and thoughtfully prepared.
We especially appreciated the beautiful surroundings, the quiet atmosphere, and the little details that made our stay comfortable. We saw the most beautiful sunset over the pond, and a pair of white swans was swimming in the pond in the morning. The cedar pavilion is new and beautiful, and the grounds around the pond are mowed and well cared for. It is obvious that the host takes great pride in providing a wonderful experience for guests.
We would gladly stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this campsite to friends and family. Thank you for sharing such a fantastic place with us!

Anna greeted us with warmth and showed us to our level parking spot, offered an electrical hookup, and showed us lovely dog walking paths. Later, I clipped some kale and a leek, as I had purchased a forage pass, and we purchased maple syrup, which was delicious on our breakfast. We met other campers in the kitchen, and felt welcomed to explore the wetlands and gardens around the property. We viewed a gorgeous sunset over the farm field and had a great sleep. There were ample clean showers and toilets in the building nearby. There was an amazing restaurant-quality kitchen available—with many sinks for washing dishes. Everything was meticulously clean and this farm felt very inviting. The kale and leeks were delicious in our dinner and the whole experience nourished our souls. Anna loves what she does and couldn’t have been friendlier. She clearly enjoys meeting new people and being creative and it made us want to return. This was a stand-out host and we highly recommend.

We had an amazing stay here and will definitely be back! The campsite was beautifully secluded, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy time with family. The swimming pond was a huge so fun—our 4yo and dogs spent hours playing in the water, and having the river nearby gave us even more places to explore.
The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They were fun to chat with and made us feel right at home, while also giving us plenty of space to enjoy our own family time. We were also pleasantly surprised to find electricity and water hookups available when we arrived, which made our stay even more comfortable.
If you’re looking for a peaceful camping spot with great swimming, beautiful scenery, and wonderful hosts, we highly recommend this place!
