What a lovely slice of heaven - truly a serene area to reconnect with nature and friends. Little and large thoughtful touches throughout the property, it's obvious the hosts have put a lot of love and energy into this space. The water was too high/swift to enjoy this trip but we will be back to enjoy that part for sure and make use of their watercraft. We visited nearby Leavenworth which was a treat, and had the most incredible experience at Hemlock Cliffs - the water was really moving and we had never seen such prolific spring wildflowers - an absolutely magical place! We found a place to hang our hammocks and enjoyed an evening of smores and campfire and were sad to leave the next day... We WILL be back!

This was such a fun & unique way to camp! The wagon is very spacious and tall enough for my 6'3" husband to walk around in! There were 2 cots and 2 twin mattresses on bedframes. They also had a table and 2 chairs. The bathrooms (real plumbing!) were very close to the covered wagon and they were very clean! We were here in March and the overnight temps were in the low 40s. It was definitely cold and I wouldn't recommend going until it's a bit warmer overnight! During the day it was very comfortable though! The campsite is very close to downtown French Lick and we were able to stop for a coffee and a view of the hotels on our way out of town!

Had a great time tent camping! We ordered a bundle of firewood for the night and Bill brought it to our firepit. And even helped light it since everything was wet. The hot shower and bathroom was great! We did have trouble finding the location, the app takes you to the wrong place. Make sure you read the directions and go on the right road.. would definitely come back

What a lovely property! If it wasn’t so cold when we were there this past week before Christmas, we would have ventured further. We did enjoy watching the ducks and chickens though! Hot shower and restrooms were a luxury I didn’t expect. Definitely book with Place of Refuge!

Please note that during the winter months the angle of the sun is lower and the panels do not produce as much power as in the summer months (plus you have less daylight hours) . Depending on the cloud cover you may be limited to lights only in November, December, January and February . There is a generator available for rent at $10.00 per night plus gas or you can bring your own. There is a wood stove and a 13,000 btu indoor gas wall heater for heat, both units provide more than enough heat. There are two window air conditioning units that can be used in, June, July and August. Once you get to the end of August or on cloudy days you are limited to the amount of time you can use the AC units unless you rent the generator. There is a propane cook stove available if you run out of power and 2 charcoal grills (you supply charcoal). Please note that the cabin is still a work in progress and is not 100% completed. Also note that if rain is limited there may be no water.

We have plenty of room, so bring yours too if you have them. We will gladly show you around, but you may enjoy exploring the acreage and showing yourself around, and we completely respect that! Your gonna love it here, but you’ll have to leave it so that you’ll appreciate it when you come back!
