Campers visiting Carmel can hike a section of the 18-mile-long Monon Trail that runs right through town before settling into a local campground next to White River. Enjoy amenities like full hookups, picnic tables, laundry facilities, and water views. Mounds State Park, 45 minutes east, features a pet-friendly campground for tents and RVs with electrical hookups, fire rings, restrooms, showers, and a dump station. Then, spend the day fishing and kayaking in White River, or viewing prehistoric mounds that were built by the Adena-Hopewell people around 160 B.C. About an hour south in Brown County State Park, discover campgrounds for tents, RVs, and equestrians as well as with private cabin rentals.
