It doesn’t get much prettier than the Idaho panhandle. Situated between Big Sky Country of Montana and the vibrant evergreen fields of Washington (which seriously look Photoshopped to the naked eye), this forest holds more than half the state’s surface waters, and wilderness vibes are guaranteed by the deer, elk, bear, caribou, and wolf populations who call this spot home. Moist maritime air comes in from the Pacific coast, and historic cabins dot the landscape. Near Spokane and the border can get busy on the weekends, but with this much acreage you can always find seclusion here. Make sure to check out at least a portion of the bikeable and walkable Hiawatha Trail—weaving 15 miles through tunnels and across high steel trestles in the Bitterroot Mountains, it’s been called one of the most scenic stretches of railroad in the country.

Park your RV, overland rig, pitch a tent, or sleep under the stars next to the Coeur D’ Alene River. Be advised this is directly next to State Highway 3. If you are a light sleeper, or road noise bothers you, this is not the campsite for you. At the camp, you can launch your kayaks at the river to go for an adventure down through the Chain Lakes, all eight are accessible by the river adjacent to where you will sleep. The bird and wildlife watching in this area is world class. Ospreys, hawks, turkeys and other animals commonly hang out in these parts. You can go for a swim at one of the sandbars, take your dirt bikes or side by sides down Killarney Lake Road to access an extensive network of trails and dirt roads into remote wilderness. There is no cell service, no water or electrical hookups, or toilet. As beautiful as it is, your experience will not be “glamping” unless you come with all the comforts you personally desire. You can hunt on the forest service land by 4th of July Pass, fish on the river, or on the Chain Lakes (with the proper permits, of course). There is a access into the water from camp but it is quite steep. For easy access to the water, use the docks or boat launch at Killarney Lake or Bull Run. Pets and kids are allowed at your own risk. Be advised the highway and river are hazardous for off-leash animals and rambunctious toddlers. Please send a message if you have any questions. I am happy to help.

Stay on the edge of a working family farm (Dragon's Breath Farm) and the surrounding National Forest where the human world enmeshes with the wilds! The farm sits on 17 acres (with only 1 acre in production) with a 1906 log cabin. The small Silver Butte Fisher River runs just off the edge of the field and is the home to trout, moose, beavers, bald eagles, mink, elk, kingfishers, ravens, deer, and the occasional bear, lion, or wolf pack. We are between the towns of Libby and Kalispell, each known for limitless outdoor activities including hiking, boating, fishing, hunting, skiing, climbing, paddling, foraging, & riding. There are surrounding lakes, rivers, mountains, forests, and limited cell phone coverage. This is the place you come to to disconnect to reconnect. To yourself. To the forest. To the rivers. To the wildlife. To the Land. To something lost but not forgotten. With few neighbors, the property is quiet except for birdsong and elk calls. We are only a mile off the highway and rarely hear a passing truck. If the season is right, we can even offer a selection of fresh produce grown right in this field or take part in one of our foraging classes and learn to find food from the wilds. Whether you are passing through and just need a safe space for the night or want to stay awhile and immerse yourself in the land and location, you've found the right place.

You are going to be filled to the brim with glee when you discover Lolo National Forest. Seriously; this is the kind of place you can stand with your feet in a crystal clear stream, bighorn sheep filling the meadow, with the sun setting behind snowcapped mountain peaks in the distance. And that’s just a roadside pull off! With over two million acres to explore, hikers, bikers and backcountry seekers will be stoked on the supa-lush forest, and trails like Cougar Peak Lookout and the Lolo Peak trail (which we assure you is not low-low). Boat for a day in Seeley Lake, or cast a line into pristine mountain streams for a try at the trout. Dinner is going to taste great over the campfire! Through the meadows or up the peaks, it’s easy enough to get your share of adventure at Lolo.

This parcel was once part of a larger homestead in the area. It directly borders over 500 acres of land managed by the Idaho Department of Lands. My home is a large A frame that has been added onto in three different directions, hence the name Hodge Podge Lodge.

Little Beaver Creek Ranch is in the heart of western Montana, between the historic towns of Trout Creek and Thompson Falls. The ranch is a combination of an historic and working remnant of Montana’s ranching past, and stunning natural beauty - - wide-open meadows with unobstructed views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains. Over 4000' of Little Beaver Creek provide the boundary to fenced & cross-fenced hay fields with a backdrop of the Bitterroot and Cabinet Mountains. The scenery is exceptional and area resources are astounding. Finding refuge on the ranch, wildlife is plentiful and diverse. The nostalgic, red 7,200 square foot, 7-stall barn serves as a functional centerpiece to the property and as a solid scenic landmark. Historic structures abound, with two barns, a carriage house, school house and bunkhouse to explore. A four-bedroom guest house offers short and long-term options for overnight accommodations. RV camping (large level site, covered patio, picnic table, electric and water hook-up) is also available through the Hip Camp program. The setting supports special events, weddings, horse boarding, cattle grazing and other activities, including winter cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Little Beaver Creek Ranch is surrounded by public lands with miles of backcountry hiking trails, and roads. Additionally, nearby Sex and Cougar Peak historic fire lookouts are available for overnight stays. These area resources also include easy access to the Clark Fork, Flathead, Big Blackfoot, Bull, Yaak and Kootenai Rivers, as well as Noxon Reservoir, Flathead and Pend Oreille Lakes for exceptional boating and fishing opportunities. Sweitzer and Lookout Pass ski resorts are a reasonable drive from the property and offer outstanding skiing and support facilities.
