It is close enough to ride your bike from camp to the Trail of the Coeur d' Alenes, 1.7 miles. It was very quiet. Good internet.

1 night at Clark Fork Hidaway

We booked late and showed up about 30 minutes later no problem! Snow storm got bad and we need a cozy place to stay for the night with power. It was perfect! The dogs had a blast on the trail across the street and morning views of the river were spectacular. Would love to come back again and highly recommend!

2 nights at Harrison Bluffs Campground

The directions were very clear on how to get there but we easily passed the turn off. I didn’t have any service but was able to get enough service at the end of the road to check the address and saw that rv slots were too far past where I was supposed to be. I turned around and saw the small Hipcamp logos for tenting. I ordered eggs and firewood. Upon arrival the host was there to greet me with the items. Unfortunately there were 2 cars and a hammock hung up in my slot at campsite #1. They didn’t know who they belonged to since we don’t input our license plate number (That would be a great idea for the future) and no one was there. We weren’t supposed to have any camping neighbors on our visit so they weren’t sure if these people were there from the night before or if someone had snuck in. Because they couldn’t figure out whose cars were there we got to pick which ever slot we wanted to camp in because no one else was supposed to be booked during our stay. We chose slot #4 which looked to about double the size of slot #2 and I was actually glad it worked out that way because we had enough room to spread out our tent, bbq and table, our own porta potty and still have room away from the fire pit where we put our chairs. Porta potties are provided later in the season and they do have trash bins. We tied up our 2 small and 1 large dog to the trees to play and set up our hammock. After raining, the small inclined walkway became slippery. This was awesome! I havnt camped in years.

Ron and Vicki were absolutely amazing hosts for my very first RV camping experience. From the start, their communication was clear, friendly, and helpful, which made everything so much easier. The site itself was beautiful, peaceful, and well-maintained—exactly what I was hoping for. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and felt welcome. Thanks to them, my first RV trip was a total success. Highly recommend staying at Mad Moose Ranch!

It's a great spot very safe and nice. If you have starlink you need to get it up high. The owners are nearby and very friendly. Also do not click the directions link Google has it messed up just manually input the address in maps to go there.

Weekend Trip to Clark Fork Hidaway

Booked last minute and got a fast approval. We arrived after dark and had difficulty finding it. GPS was accurate but it is so dark here( zero light pollution)we still could not see the driveway. Recommend better lighting and a hicamp sign. Host was quick to call us though and talk us in. Once set up we went straight to bed and left before daylight so afraid we cannot review it fully. It is by a creek and has a firepit though. Has water and electricity plus firewood is furnished. 👍Other reviews mentioned a train and this is true but we still slept very well! We liked too that it was so close to our route and level.

Riverfront Base Camp

Park your RV, overland rig, pitch a tent, or sleep under the stars next to the Coeur D’ Alene River. Be advised this is directly next to State Highway 3. If you are a light sleeper, or road noise bothers you, this is not the campsite for you. At the camp, you can launch your kayaks at the river to go for an adventure down through the Chain Lakes, all eight are accessible by the river adjacent to where you will sleep. The bird and wildlife watching in this area is world class. Ospreys, hawks, turkeys and other animals commonly hang out in these parts. You can go for a swim at one of the sandbars, take your dirt bikes or side by sides down Killarney Lake Road to access an extensive network of trails and dirt roads into remote wilderness. There is no cell service, no water or electrical hookups, or toilet. As beautiful as it is, your experience will not be “glamping” unless you come with all the comforts you personally desire. You can hunt on the forest service land by 4th of July Pass, fish on the river, or on the Chain Lakes (with the proper permits, of course). There is a access into the water from camp but it is quite steep. For easy access to the water, use the docks or boat launch at Killarney Lake or Bull Run. Pets and kids are allowed at your own risk. Be advised the highway and river are hazardous for off-leash animals and rambunctious toddlers. Please send a message if you have any questions. I am happy to help.

Easy access from I 90 but not nearly close enough to hear it. Campsite sits 500-600 feet off a county road with a easy driveway and plenty of turn around space. It's a basically level area with several options for how to park. Large pine trees provide shade but let plenty of light through. There is filtered road noise, but the crickets and coyotes are the main thing you'll hear at night.

In St Maries you can find easy access to the St Joe and St Maries rivers. 9 miles west of St Maries is Heyburn Park where you will find multiple hiking trails, access to Chatcolet Lake (which is at the south end of the Coeur ‘d Alene Lake system). Outdoor recreation options are limitless in this area. Coeur ‘d Alene is an hour and a half north from our property and Moscow is and hour and a half SW of our property. We are 2 miles from State land and a 25-minute ride on an ATV to the St Maries River. The area is abundant in wildlife: elk, deer, coyotes, cougars, moose, rabbits, grouse, badgers and more. There are 3 RV sites tucked into the trees, a large open tent site and a second tent site that is in the trees. There is a pull around drive to access the sites with a large, shared grass area in the center. Things are still in development so currently it is dry camping only. There are water spigots at each site but only for fire suppression if needed as water is not potable. RV sites are graveled with plenty of room to park your truck. Our home is approximately 300 yards up from the camping area and we have neighbors nearby with farm animals. So you can expect to hear roosters crowing and goats calling for more grain. We do have dogs. One of them stays penned up but the other is a guardian dog. She is friendly but keeps the other animals safe from predators such as coyotes and cougars. We allow animals but only if they are kept on a leash or in your RV.

We are between the towns of Libby and Kalispell, each known for limitless outdoor activities including hiking, boating, fishing, hunting, skiing, climbing, paddling, foraging, & riding. There are surrounding lakes, rivers, mountains, forests, and limited cell phone coverage. This is the place you come to to disconnect to reconnect. To yourself. To the forest. To the rivers. To the wildlife. To the Land. To something lost but not forgotten. With few neighbors, the property is quiet except for birdsong and elk calls. We are only a mile off the highway and rarely hear a passing truck. If the season is right, we can even offer a selection of fresh produce grown right in this field or take part in one of our foraging classes and learn to find food from the wilds. Whether you are passing through and just need a safe space for the night or want to stay awhile and immerse yourself in the land and location, you've found the right place.
