We had a blast at the little cabin and the lake was just magnificent. Just a nice little gem! We had a lacrosse tournament in Sandpoint and this was a fun little spot for some family time in between games! We enjoyed the peaceful water and had a nice fire to make some s’mores! Would definitely stay in the future. The pictures don’t do it justice. We slept in our camper van! There is a robin’s nest with 3 little blue eggs in the eve of the cabin too.

We had a great experience at this campground. It was beautiful, clean, quiet, peaceful, and a great place to stay for our couple days of biking the Trail of the CDA. Rachel was so easy to work with and communications with her were wonderful. Highly recommend this campground!

Weekend Trip to Achin' Ass Acres -

We got to enjoy Achin’ Ass Acres all by ourselves - so fun! It’s a unique place with personality! There are many places you could set up, though we chose to stay on the gravel in between the “saloon” and the “happy crapper” since it was so level and easy. I could see this place being a paradise for dogs with lots of space to explore - next time we’ll have to bring ours along. Louie was super responsive before and during our stay and made sure we were all set - this was very much appreciated. Thanks again Louie!

We had a quick visit to The Bench and it had everything we needed. The location is beautiful and surprisingly close to town, which is great. Hosts were kind and friendly and also gave us space. Appreciated the full hookups! Would definitely stay here again!

I Stayed at Campsite C and had a beautiful view of the lake. I was also close to the eletrical box which was very nice. I added in the geocaches and those were also fun. My gf made a sketch of the scenery to put into one of the geocache boxes. I hope whoever finds that enjoys! I would love to stay at this campsite again!!!

3 nights at Paradise on Mirror Lake

We stayed in Site B with a 21ft trailer. The site was very spacious but a little awkward to get the trailer backed in close to the plug based on the traffic flow direction and the location of the pedestal. The pad area was relatively flat but did require a little bit of level to the camper. The campground was quiet and secluded. During our stay, there was no one camping near the shoreline, and we were able to enjoy some time lounging in the hammocks. We would absolutely stay here again.

We stayed at site A two nights, and had a lovely time. The enchanted forest and Sasquatch trail were fun, and the birds on the lake were also a real treat. Nathaniel was attentive and kind!

2 nights at Harrison Bluffs Campground

The directions were very clear on how to get there but we easily passed the turn off. I didn’t have any service but was able to get enough service at the end of the road to check the address and saw that rv slots were too far past where I was supposed to be. I turned around and saw the small Hipcamp logos for tenting. I ordered eggs and firewood. Upon arrival the host was there to greet me with the items. Unfortunately there were 2 cars and a hammock hung up in my slot at campsite #1. They didn’t know who they belonged to since we don’t input our license plate number (That would be a great idea for the future) and no one was there. We weren’t supposed to have any camping neighbors on our visit so they weren’t sure if these people were there from the night before or if someone had snuck in. Because they couldn’t figure out whose cars were there we got to pick which ever slot we wanted to camp in because no one else was supposed to be booked during our stay. We chose slot #4 which looked to about double the size of slot #2 and I was actually glad it worked out that way because we had enough room to spread out our tent, bbq and table, our own porta potty and still have room away from the fire pit where we put our chairs. Porta potties are provided later in the season and they do have trash bins. We tied up our 2 small and 1 large dog to the trees to play and set up our hammock. After raining, the small inclined walkway became slippery. This was awesome! I havnt camped in years.

Easy to check in, came late and Mike helped provide me some light so I could set up my tent. He was very friendly and helpful. Everything was pretty much as advertised. It was a bit for me to sleep because dogs were be barking at random times thru the night. If you’re a heavy sleeper it shouldn’t be a problem.

The beauty and allure of Mirror Lake led to it being featured in two Hollywood movies -- Dante's Peak (1997) and Mel (1998). The lake itself is excellent for fishing, and stocked with Kokanee, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout. The stocking is typically scheduled for the first week of June each year, so if you are an angler, it's best to come after June 7th for the best fishing. Paying homage to the Bigfoot legend in northern Idaho, the theme of this campground is all things Sasquatch! Can you find all 9 Sasquatch hiding throughout the campground? Swimming in nearby Talache Landing (a.k.a. Talache Beach) on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille is an absolute must-do. The views are absolutely stunning and the water is crystal clear -- and quite refreshing on a hot day. Maverick Mountain Home

Maverick Mountain Home is perched on a mountainside several hundred feet above picturesque Trestle Creek, a protected Kokanee Salmon and Bull Trout spawning habitat, two short but gorgeous miles up the road from Lake Pend Oreille. Our property is hidden within an epic cedar, fir and pine forest, bracketed by the Kaniksu National Forest to the east and conservation land to the west. SPRING/SUMMER/FALL: Spend the afternoon at the Trestle Creek Recreation Area on the eastern shore of Lake Pend Oreille, only two miles down the road (just off Highway 200), where you can launch your boat, swim at the beach, or paddle along the shore in your kayak or SUP. Or, take an adventurous backcountry drive up Trestle Creek Road into the mountains of the Kaniksu National Forest where you can check out Lunch Peak Lookout, hike miles of pristine trails to one of the three nearby mountain lakes, explore several waterfalls, or drive the entire 35 mile backcountry loop down to the town of Clark Fork. If quiet rest is what you seek, stay here and find a secluded spot next to one of the creeks where you can hang a hammock and listen for that still small voice. Or read a book until the peaceful whispers of flowing water and breeze through the trees lulls you to sleep. You'll be in for a special treat if you book your site during the annual Kokanee Salmon spawning season! The salmon run usually starts during the last week in August or first week in September and lasts through late September. There are a multitude of viewing locations along Trestle Creek to witness this yearly miracle and snap some amazing photos! WINTER: Bring your snow machines and take advantage of sled in/sled out access from your campsite to the Trestle Creek loop system, boasting spectacular backcountry terrain with 50+ miles of groomed trails and hundreds of thousands of off-trail acres to explore! On-site trailer parking adjacent to the road is available. If skiing is your thing, Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort is an easy (and gorgeous) 45 minute commute. Don't tell anyone, but Schweitzer Mountain is an absolute gem of a ski resort with 2,900 acres of gorgeous skiing terrain (and epic views) for all ages and skill levels. Our family spends a good bit of time skiing here. Winter Driveway Access: a 4-wheel/all-wheel drive vehicle is required to climb our driveway during winter conditions. OUR STORY: We (Tim and Molly) spent 14 years raising our young family in the desert heat of north Phoenix. Every summer we went dispersed camping as many weekends as possible with our four (now five) children in the backcountry mountain ranges of northern Arizona. We watched our family grow stronger together and sibling relationships flourish as the mental and emotional grime of the city grind was slowly washed from our souls during idle morning hangouts, afternoon hiking adventures and evening stories and laughs around the campfire. We had a particularly amazing mountaintop experience in 2014 backcountry camping over Labor Day Weekend where we felt a strong calling to share with others the blessings we were experiencing. Our hearts were impressed with a desire to host a place in the "wilderness" where people and families could escape and unwind from the noise and pace of city life for a few days and maybe even have a mountaintop experience of their own. After several years of waiting for the right timing, we started exploring and found this place in January 2019. By April we had sold our home in Phoenix and moved our family 2,000 miles north to this 27 acre property on a mountain of Hope. We named it Maverick Mountain Home, which captures our love of the wilderness, our mission to care for the lost, and our desire to be unbranded by the world. Upon landing here we immediately got to work preparing. We've spent the last five years working on hundreds of different projects, including: rehabilitating our driveway, beginning a long-term whole-house remodel, building a chicken coop, maintaining our driveway, fencing in a new orchard, chicken yard, and pig yard, planting trees, replacing a spring house, maintaining our driveway, installing underground infrastructure for future guest facilities, clearing trails, milling lumber, and maintaining our driveway. In 2024 we dedicated a good portion of April and May to preparing our first HipCamp site, Living Water, which went live on our wedding anniversary at the end of May. We added our second site, Boondock Butte in July with plans for several more sites in coming years. Since the first booking on our opening weekend we've watched as that line from "Field of Dreams" came true in our "backyard" - we built it and they started coming. Welcome to Maverick Mountain Home, Intrepid Camper! It is a huge blessing for us to share this amazing place with you.

Under the Cedars

At any time, one critter or another will stroll through and feast on whatever vegetation they desire. We don't have a view of the river but it's nearby and our meadows and mountains offer a peaceful scene all its own. Camp surrounded by Old Growth Cedars and towering Grand Fir, stargaze by night, enjoy a campfire, smores and time with your family, Our peace includes little to no cellular or wifi service. We still depend on our landline phone and don't offer internet or satellite tv. Feels like we're in the country but we live on a paved county road and only 4 miles from the city of Priest River. Bring your boat for a trip on the Pend Oreille River to Lake Pend Oreille. Launching is a short distance away at the Mud Hole, Priest River City Beach or Riley Creek Campground. Try your hand at fishing for bass, kokanee, perch, northern pike, and trout in the river or on the lake. Wake up in a peaceful woodsy setting where elk, deer, the occasional moose and turkeys roam the property and are often seen in the meadow. Load up your ATV, side by side or motorcycle and head for Priest Lake right from here. It’s a 21 mile (40 minute ride) to Coolin, ID. Enjoy the back county and take some of the IDL roads along the way to explore scenic drainages and in July/August pick some luscious huckleberries (the state fruit of Idaho) for a pancake or milkshake treat. In the fall, a nice central location for hunting camp. Want to go skiing or enjoy the summer lift ride? Head up to Schweitzer Mountain, about an hour drive away (38 miles/65 mins). The city of Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille (Idaho's largest lake) are a half hour away (26 miles/33 mins) and Silverwood Theme Park in Athol, ID less than an hour away (36 miles/52 min).

This is a very private and quiet place, more of a sanctuary and not a party place. The only thing you hear is nature, a breeze through the pine trees, the birds, and the creek. This property was and is an organic permaculture farm in the forest. There are two orchards and an organic garden. The water is from a spring. The La Luna cabin is off-grid with an option to plugin if needed. Hot Showers at my cabins are private and outdoors. There's nothing more wonderful than a hot spring-fed shower. The toilets are composting. (No water is wasted here)! Two of the cabins were built from the trees on the property by the first family that lived here in the earlier 1900s. The Birds Nest cabin was originally a tool shed that needed a LOT of Love to be in the condition that it is today. It does have power, running water and wi-fi. There is the option to take an acrylic painting class, banjo, guitar or fiddle lessons, paddleboard lessons, and have a real old-timey campfire with a glass of wine or two with live music performed by our famous Fiddlin Red on the fiddle, banjo, and guitar. Your experience here may change your life forever! We haven't added all the experiential options yet, so if there is something you are interested in please inquire. Every year we make it more and more magical and interesting. It's four miles up a county-maintained dirt road and one mile to a non-motorized lake. I can't see my neighbors, but they are awesome artists and musicians and some of them are off the grid! If you're bringing a pet, they must be on a leash and be quiet pets. If you are bringing a child they also need to be quiet and respectful. I want to keep my neighbors and my other guests happy with a peaceful atmosphere. Thank you!

The Woods in Sagle

There is a porta-potty very close with a sink water disposal and garbage can. Please note there is potable water in the property but not at the sites. There are other traditional vacation rentals on the property including your hosts home. We are surrounded by tall trees where it is very quiet with the exception of many bird, the distant call of the trains as well as our resident owls. You will find a Lake Pend Oreille is 15 minutes away, Sandpoint is about 10 minutes away with a wonderful swimming beach and Silverwood Theme Park is about 20 minutes. Riverfront Base Camp

Park your RV, overland rig, pitch a tent, or sleep under the stars next to the Coeur D’ Alene River. Be advised this is directly next to State Highway 3. If you are a light sleeper, or road noise bothers you, this is not the campsite for you. At the camp, you can launch your kayaks at the river to go for an adventure down through the Chain Lakes, all eight are accessible by the river adjacent to where you will sleep. The bird and wildlife watching in this area is world class. Ospreys, hawks, turkeys and other animals commonly hang out in these parts. You can go for a swim at one of the sandbars, take your dirt bikes or side by sides down Killarney Lake Road to access an extensive network of trails and dirt roads into remote wilderness. There is no cell service, no water or electrical hookups, or toilet. As beautiful as it is, your experience will not be “glamping” unless you come with all the comforts you personally desire. You can hunt on the forest service land by 4th of July Pass, fish on the river, or on the Chain Lakes (with the proper permits, of course). There is a access into the water from camp but it is quite steep. For easy access to the water, use the docks or boat launch at Killarney Lake or Bull Run. Pets and kids are allowed at your own risk. Be advised the highway and river are hazardous for off-leash animals and rambunctious toddlers. Please send a message if you have any questions. I am happy to help.

The Hidden Frog On Kelso Lake

Tucked away in the mossy rocks, The Hidden Frog offers a half acre of private, forested camping on the banks of Kelso Lake. The 60 acre lake allows non-motorized watercraft only, which makes for a peaceful, relaxing stay. The parking area has room for a vehicle and trailer up to 60ft long combined, plus another area for a single vehicle. It is a shared driveway, so you must leave room for vehicles to get around you. You can choose to set up camp there, or down a short path to the lake where there is ample flat ground for a tent. The path is cleared but rocky, so always make sure to watch your step! A fire ring, shovel, bucket of water, emergency fire extinguisher, table, 2 chairs and one 13gal garbage bag are provided for your use. I live next door, so I'm around if there is anything you need (don't be afraid to ask!) There are no other amenities right now, but we plan on adding some as we start to make some money (i.e. an outhouse, electrical.) The shoreline is very bushy and rocky- not ideal for fishing, boating or swimming, but there is a free public boat launch site .4mi down the road, plus another at Granite lake .7mi away. Both offer a toilet, and a place for swimming and fishing (must have a fishing licence.) Please respect the boundaries and do not cross into neighbors' yards. Also, do not disturb the mosses growing on the rocks (it is a fragile ecosystem!) and respect the wildlife that make the space their home. Wildlife you may encounter includes deer, moose, beaver, otters, chipmunks, squirrels, frogs, salamanders, eagles, osprey, blue herons, ducks, and many other bird species- we are located on the Idaho Birding Trail. We are on 20 acres and have developed ¾ acre for camping. Badger drive is just off a well-maintained gravel county road. We are less than 15 minutes from St Maries, where you will find dump sites and water refill station at the fairgrounds or at Ed’s R & R. There are 2 grocery stores, gas stations and a UTV rental place called Northwest Outdoor Rental Co. There is also Hidden Gem Resort and arcade where you can rent kayaks. In St Maries you can find easy access to the St Joe and St Maries rivers. 9 miles west of St Maries is Heyburn Park where you will find multiple hiking trails, access to Chatcolet Lake (which is at the south end of the Coeur ‘d Alene Lake system). Outdoor recreation options are limitless in this area. Coeur ‘d Alene is an hour and a half north from our property and Moscow is and hour and a half SW of our property. We are 2 miles from State land and a 25-minute ride on an ATV to the St Maries River. The area is abundant in wildlife: elk, deer, coyotes, cougars, moose, rabbits, grouse, badgers and more. There are 3 RV sites tucked into the trees, a large open tent site and a second tent site that is in the trees. There is a pull around drive to access the sites with a large, shared grass area in the center. Things are still in development so currently it is dry camping only. There are water spigots at each site but only for fire suppression if needed as water is not potable. RV sites are graveled with plenty of room to park your truck. Our home is approximately 300 yards up from the camping area and we have neighbors nearby with farm animals. So you can expect to hear roosters crowing and goats calling for more grain. We do have dogs. One of them stays penned up but the other is a guardian dog. She is friendly but keeps the other animals safe from predators such as coyotes and cougars. We allow animals but only if they are kept on a leash or in your RV.
