The beauty and allure of Mirror Lake led to it being featured in two Hollywood movies -- Dante's Peak (1997) and Mel (1998). The lake itself is excellent for fishing, and stocked with Kokanee, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout. The stocking is typically scheduled for the first week of June each year, so if you are an angler, it's best to come after June 7th for the best fishing. Paying homage to the Bigfoot legend in northern Idaho, the theme of this campground is all things Sasquatch! Can you find all 9 Sasquatch hiding throughout the campground? Swimming in nearby Talache Landing (a.k.a. Talache Beach) on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille is an absolute must-do. The Moyie River ( say Moy-yay) has headwaters at Moyie Lake in British Columbia and feeds into the Kootenai River (say Koo-ten-e) just East of Bonners Ferry. The Moyie River is 95 miles long. Alpine tundra is dotted with evergreen forest in the green rolling hills here, topped with snow, and anchored by sparkling valley waterways. The smaller of the two parks in Caribou-Targhee National Forests, Caribou is a welterweight not to be underestimated. Just south of its older brother, this land spans Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, and is a crucial spot for supporting caribou populations. None of the animals here are bashful: bison, moose, deer, mountain lions, falcons, elk, and even black bears abound! Beautiful to snap shot from a distance. Just south of the forest, Bear Lake is a fun spot to take a dip after you hike one of Caribou’s dozens of peaks (Mead Peak and Hawks Peak have gorgeous views, as does Big Elk Mountain at the northern tip of the park). At the south end, you’ll find campgrounds, fast flowing creeks, and the Minnetonka Cave at St. Charles Canyon. This is a site to see, but it stays 40 degrees down there all year so be sure to pack a coat, even if you’re sweating above ground. When you’re done, stop in the charming small town of Montpelier, surrounded by rolling hills and full of retro grocers and kitschy eateries. Yum!

This property was used by the Shoshone Indian tribe as a summer camp area. Later after the pioneers came they set up a dance floor and had parties here. The dance floor has since overgrown. This property has also been the host to never dams. It has been in our family for many years and we have enjoyed it.Learn more about this land:The campsites are located in a wooded area so lots of shade. 2 sites are creek side along maple creek and the other has a small stream and a pond. All sites have a fire pit available. All sites are carry in carry out. Easily accessible with a four wheel drive. You will need to cross maple creek to reach site 1. The road down to the river bottoms is a bit steep so 4 wheel drive is recommended. This area is ideal for tent camping.

3 nights at ALMOST TO CANADA - FAR NORTH IDAHO

Our winter visit to the Far North was excellent. The cabin was a perfect place to spend time together. We loved the selection of books available to visitors during our stay. It was great to have kitchen equipment and to use it easily. The fireplace kept us nice and cozy on snowy, cold days outside. The Views are stunning, with no one around but our family. It was ‘dry’ camping because of the late season, but that did not stop us from having quality time together. I love that Paul provides firewood. He was great at communication and make us so welcome at his property.

Host was fab, accommodations were as well. Close to a small walkable town (Driggs). Would definitely recommend.

Old garden area for both RV and tent camping. Lots of room for setup. Has morning and midday sun with afternoon shade.

1 night at Ranchita Corazon of the Tetons

What an awesome spot! Joy is a phenomenal host—communicative, welcoming, and has great energy. A little rain and cloud did little to dampen the experience, which was highlighted by a nice long sweat in the sauna (a MUST) and a brief but invigorating dip in the cold plunge. Shoutout to a couple of friendly four legged friends, who I also had the great fortune to meet. While I didn’t get to experience the epic sunrise over the Tetons due to an early departure, this was easily remedied by a quick journey back over the pass to the national park (another must!). This was my first, but certainly not my last stay!!

3 nights at Paradise on Mirror Lake

I loved camping on this piece of property! The camp sites were fantastic with a great view. The land is very well maintained and has small hikes through the property. There are amazing touches throughout the property that show the host loves the property. It was very quiet and felt remote. The trees and rock landscape on the property are beautiful. Things to know: The road up is one way and fairly narrow. Move slowly and use a spotter if necessary. Also - the electric supply box is located a distance from the D spot, and is shared by C and D. You may need more electrical line to reach your camper, even in the C spot! It was a great site to camp in and the host was responsive on the app!

This is our second time here and it was just as wonderful and quiet and peaceful as last time. It was so good that the weather decided to give us heat, cold, wind, and rain. We had a great stay at Doug and Shannon’s cabin! Located close to Salmon, but still remote and private. We stayed plenty warm in the cabin, and enjoyed the swing by the water. Would definitely recommend and would stay again next time we are in the area!

What a great spot! Paul is a welcoming host that has set up a great site for guests. There is a nice building with a shower, and a separate toilet building. It’s a beautiful, peaceful, nicely maintained property. My dogs were very at home there. I would love to stay there again.

Weekend Trip to Paradise on Mirror Lake

We absolutely loved our stay at Paradise on Mirror Lake! It’s a small, quiet campground with a ton of charm. The Bigfoot theme is awesome. Our boys had a blast following the Bigfoot trail. For a thrill, our boys even did the trail at night with flashlights, which made the experience that much more fun! We stayed in Site C, which was beautiful, but definitely bring an RV extension cord since the hookups are a bit of a stretch. If you’re looking for a laid-back place to unwind, explore, and maybe spot Bigfoot, this is it. We’ll definitely be back!

This was a very cute and homey cabin, perfect for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend. He originally wanted to camp, so even though the cabin is rustic, it was perfect for us. I especially enjoyed sitting on the loveseat on the porch. And having a coffee maker! The hosts were so friendly and welcoming.

We thoroughly enjoyed the experience here. The sites are clean, private and with a fire extinguisher and a water bucket on hand, safety is a must. I liked that! We did not use the fire pit as we came unprepared for that. We liked the enchanted forest and the walk to the beautiful mirror lake. The work put into this camp shows. I have already recommend this site to others. Well done on a beautiful campground!
