Like a postcard photograph, Bigfoot Campout sits perched over Mirror Lake on one end of a mountain bowl. Campers will have gorgeous views and sunsets over the lake. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, hiking and wildlife watching abound. The campsite is off-the-beaten path so you'll be away from the crowds, yet the site is still close to other area attractions like Lake Pend Oreille (10 min. drive), charming downtown Sandpoint (15 min. drive) and Silverwood Theme Park (30 min. drive).
The beauty and allure of Mirror Lake led to it being featured in two Hollywood movies -- Dante's Peak (1997) and Mel (1998). The lake itself is excellent for fishing, and stocked with Kokanee, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout. The stocking is typically scheduled for the first week of June each year, so if you are an angler, it's best to come after June 7th for the best fishing.
Paying homage to the Bigfoot legend in northern Idaho, the theme of this campground is all things Sasquatch! Can you find all 9 Sasquatch hiding throughout the campground?
Swimming in nearby Talache Landing (a.k.a. Talache Beach) on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille is an absolute must-do. The views are absolutely stunning and the water is crystal clear -- and quite refreshing on a hot day.
Fishing is best done in a canoe or small boat which can be put in at our campground dock (free) or at the nearby public boat ramp ($5 fee).
When selecting your campsite, please take note of the following:

Easiest RV access: Site B. It's a pull-through site.

Camper trailer-- 16' vintage camper Little Buffy that sleeps 2 and has a mini-kitchenette and guests use the Loo-uvre Restroom/Shower House close by.
New to the Lodge is Adirondack-style "The Bunkie" that sleeps 6 or 7 plus has a desk, microwave and fridge.
All bed and bath linens are provided in all of our rooms. Firepits are a-plenty!
Our Inn also has great tent sites, plus both 30 amp and 50 amp RV/Camper sites with water and electric, a firepit and picnic table each, plus a fee dump station. We are currently planning/building another shower/restroom house and a laundry mat. There is a fee dump station on site.
With over ten acres of property to play at and stroll, your stay will be one of fun, peace and quiet. Our RV & Camp is fun! We have our famous Borrow Barn with loads of complementary activities including a 9 hole disc golf course with maps/disc/scorecards, free pedal boats, Little Free Library #69967, volleyball, tetherball, badminton, board games and more, plus our cruiser bicycles in our Bike Corral are for guests to enjoy on property also. Children must be watched always and very closely-- enjoy being with your children on the property.

We are located in the Heise-Kelly Canyon of southeast Idaho with fabulous sunrises and sunsets.
We are very close to hiking, hot springs, rapelling, 200+ miles of ATV and SxS trails, golf, mini-golf, a driving range, skiing, ice cream parlor and two restaurants, and the mighty Snake River corridor right across the road. 90 minutes to the east to Jackson/GTNP/then South Gate in YNP (2 routes-- the mountain pass or the easy Snake River route), and 90 minutes to the north to West Yellowstone/Yellowstone West Gate (2 steep mountain passes). Both routes are beautiful with waterfalls, gorgeous mountain views, and Idaho countryside. We are 20 minutes from Bear World in Rexburg, and less than two hours from Grand Teton Park and Yellowstone National Park regardless of which of the four routes that you take, with each route including a beautiful waterfall. 90 minutes to the east to Jackson/GTNP/then South Gate in YNP (2 routes-- the mountain pass or the easy Snake River route), and 90 minutes to the north to West Yellowstone/Yellowstone West Gate (2 steep mountain passes). You could say Boise National Forest is in the tri-forest area. It is surrounded on all sides by Payette, Salmon-Challis, and Sawtooth National Forests, it is situated conveniently close to both urban fun in Boise, and limitless wilderness adventures everywhere else. Alpine tundra is dotted with evergreen forest in the green rolling hills here, topped with snow, and anchored by sparkling valley waterways. The Payette River is great for rafting, while Banks Beach and Beehive Bend are just some of the prime access points on the forest’s 250 lakes and reservoirs (Arrowrock Reservoir has surprisingly primo salmon fishing for central Idaho).
Hikers will find 500 trails, including some that lead to 360-panoramic views at fire lookouts. The ambitious should try 10,000-foot high Trinity Mountain, while more liesurely trekkers will get just as good a view at Silver Creek. As if that’s not all enough to keep you busy, there are also endless mountain biking trails, including a scenic route along Shafer Butte. You’ll have your hands full at this intersection of so many great parks!

Salmon-Challis National Forest and Nez-Pearce Clearwater National Forest are its neighbors, while its Victor Peak, Loon Creek, Loon Lake, North Loon Mountain, Bruin Mountain, Bear Pete Mountain, and Boulder Creek could keep you busy for months. Forage for mushrooms or berries, fish in the chinook salmon hatchery at the South Fork of the Salmon River, or snowboard down Brundage Mountain. The smaller of the two parks in Caribou-Targhee National Forests, Caribou is a welterweight not to be underestimated. Just south of its older brother, this land spans Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, and is a crucial spot for supporting caribou populations. None of the animals here are bashful: bison, moose, deer, mountain lions, falcons, elk, and even black bears abound! Beautiful to snap shot from a distance.
Just south of the forest, Bear Lake is a fun spot to take a dip after you hike one of Caribou’s dozens of peaks (Mead Peak and Hawks Peak have gorgeous views, as does Big Elk Mountain at the northern tip of the park). At the south end, you’ll find campgrounds, fast flowing creeks, and the Minnetonka Cave at St. Charles Canyon. This is a site to see, but it stays 40 degrees down there all year so be sure to pack a coat, even if you’re sweating above ground. When you’re done, stop in the charming small town of Montpelier, surrounded by rolling hills and full of retro grocers and kitschy eateries. Yum!

Minidoka County Fairgrounds: The fairgrounds are located East of Rupert encompassing an area of approximately sixty-five acres. The grounds includes a rodeo arena, display buildings (antique building, a commercial building, 4-H building), and open air pavilion for livestock shows, family reunions, and other community events. Hidden behind the main grounds is our small and quaint campground in a groomed grassy field. with a spectacular view of Mount Harrison. Our Amps are 30 amp. We suggest you have your own drinking water. There are signs saying nonpotable for your safety. There is not direct access to fairgrounds bathrooms. We are perfect for an RV set up or a tent camper that is a bit more experienced.
The Minidoka County Fair held the first week in August and includes a full week of events including entertainment, open class exhibits, food, rodeo, 4-H and FFA livestock shows. Numerous events are held at the fairgrounds throughout the year including Moto-X races, rodeos, auctions, 4-H events. weddings, horseshows, family reunions, and more. Note-Dates have been blocked for these events. We are fortunate to have this multi-purpose facility for use in our community.

This was my first Hipcamp experience. It was even better than expected. The other reviews are very accurate. Brandon is a great host and makes sure you have everything you need to be comfortable. While I was there we had delicious well water, plenty of firewood available for free and he offered us an extension cord from the garage for power.

He was very communicative and made sure we had everything we needed. Follow the directions Bill give, Bonnell can be easy to miss and my navigation didn’t pick it up right away. We loved our stay at Dry Camp 5! It was definitely the best site. Incredibly views, very private, lots of flat land, and (while this may vary depending on when you go??) VERY few bugs! The chimney was a fun touch. The grass was trimmed so it was easy to pick a spot to set up. The one downside was that it was pretty far to the bathrooms - my 10 year old was the only one who bothered walking but said her calves burned on the way back up. Haha! So we drove to the bathrooms which wasn’t a dealbreaker for us. OH! We didn’t know “bring your own toiletries” included toilet paper so we needed a late night run to the gas station, whoops. The bathroom was very primitive but it’s camping and honestly it was way better than many vault toilets I’ve been to so that was a win in my book. The bathroom door didn’t lock very well but there was NOBODY on the mountain but us, and who doesn’t mind a little fresh air while you pee?? 😄
It was fun to hear coyotes at night. The route was a little nerve wracking the first time you go up but it’s easy peasy after that. The host was friendly and gave us tips for things to do locally. And truly, the whole area is beautiful and so peaceful! My dogs were in HEAVEN and so were we!

Camp site was excellent. We rented out the entire site for my large family and everyone was comfortable and the site was very accommodating for all of us. We were able to have a nice common area along with having our own private little camping spots spread throughout the area. The lake was fantastic. We brought our paddle boards and kayaks and had a great time at the water . We will def consider rebooking in the future!

Nathaniel is great! He answered all questions in a timely manner. He helped me fix my mistake when I only booked one night instead of 2. He was super great and the campsites are really cool and very primitive. Perfect for taking in nature.

Brandy’s spot was so perfect, the flowers were gorgeous, seating area and amenities (water & power) made this a perfect spot for us. It feels private the way the sites are staggered and we had a lake view in the distance.
Close to town and had everything we needed!

Very cool site, loved being able to drive up and park right in the site. The set of furniture with the turf style carpet is a very nice touch. We were nervous but we found the entrance and the site immediately with no issues. Good chance we come back at some point if it's still available. We stayed at site 1. One of the cars in our group did have some trouble getting out of the site but it's a Honda Fit FWD and it still got over the creek and up the muddy hill without much difficulty really. The tree cover was super nice and we were able to rest in the water and enjoy nature. 100% value if you want a good secluded site, didn't see another person. The porta-john was extremely well maintained as well. Owner communicated easily and answered all my questions. There is a maverick like 5 min away if needed.
