A small but unique piece of land that was given to a family in the 1920s by the Florida Railroad Company. It stayed in the family until we purchased it. It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is
due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. This is why the area is called the Allapattah (an Indian word for Alligator) Flats.
We are hoping that our county stays the way it is so people will know what Old Florida really looks like.
Minutes from I-95, but surrounded by the Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Preserve. Located on Martin Hwy, which was recently designated as a Florida Scenic Hwy. Fifteen minutes to Stuart and thirty minutes to West Palm Beach, a world away from the hustle and bustle.
We realize that people also love Florida for Disney and tropical paradises but if that is what you want then this may not be your kind of place.
Depending on the season and availability we may have local honey and/or firewood available for purchase.

Our property is located in the Sailfish capital of the country in the heart of Historic Port Salerno/Stuart Florida. World class deep sea fishing, boating, and some of the finest seafood restaurants on the east coast are less a mile away. We’re just 5 miles from downtown Stuart on the Inland waterway that offers a lovely walkable downtown where you will find a theater, unique art studios, interesting and unique craft and clothing shops, and numerous restaurants offering everything from vegan and vegetarian options, to pizza, steak, and local seafood. If you’re looking for fast food franchises in the downtown areas, you’ll need to look elsewhere!
Only 11 miles from Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Daily excursions are available from the launch site to the infamousTrapper Nelson’s hideaway. A must do for adventurous types who appreciate legends and creative off grid living.
ABOUT US:
This Camp Site is on a 1/2 acre, owner occupied property and located in a beautiful, open, quiet neighborhood setting. It offers a natural walking path with several foot bridges around the lake. Our property has very easy accessibility to all major roads including interstate 95. Our camp sites provide a peaceful stay while still being close to all you seek. This location makes for a great stop over or destination spot.
Guests will wake in the morning to the lovely site and peaceful sounds of the mostly year round residents including pileated and red-bellied woodpeckers, vultures, raccoons, egrets, ibis, hawks, quaker parrots, herons, bluejays, grackles, crows, lizards, mourning doves, gray squirrels, owls, hawks, and occasional sightings of iguanas and turtles. Nights tend to be dark and quiet with minimal traffic noise. We are pet friendly provided your pet is too! Again, this is in a quiet, neighborhood type setting, just a bit off the beaten path. If you’re looking for places to visit for the day or services nearby, you can head to Okeechobee, which is only 20 min away. Lake Placid is only 40 min, Vero Beach is only 1 hr, and Melbourne is 1 hr 30 min.
All of the listed locations offer great opportunities for fishing, hunting, swimming, and beach hangouts. Each of the sites allows for watching the livestock, hanging out at the watering hole, and sitting around the communal campfire.
Our favorite things about our property are privacy, amenities, and all of the roaming mini livestock throughout the property!
Your hosts do not live onsite however, will be available to you during your visit. We are friendly and as non-invasive as we can be. We do love meeting our guests and are available for any questions that come up. Our primary purpose when developing this property was to create a safe space for children with special needs and their families. We are a no judgment zone and adhere to Hipcamp's inclusion policy.

Our property is located in the Sailfish capital of the country in the heart of Historic Port Salerno/Stuart Florida. World class deep sea fishing, boating, and some of the finest seafood restaurants on the east coast are less a mile away. We’re just 5 miles from downtown Stuart on the Inland waterway that offers a lovely walkable downtown where you will find a theater, unique art studios, interesting and unique craft and clothing shops, and numerous restaurants offering everything from vegan and vegetarian options, to pizza, steak, and local seafood. If you’re looking for fast food franchises in the downtown areas, you’ll need to look elsewhere!
Only 11 miles from Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Daily excursions are available from the launch site to the infamousTrapper Nelson’s hideaway. A must do for adventurous types who appreciate legends and creative off grid living.
ABOUT US:
This Camp Site is on a 1/2 acre, owner occupied property and located in a beautiful, open, quiet neighborhood setting. It offers a natural walking path with several foot bridges around the lake. Our property has very easy accessibility to all major roads including interstate 95. Our camp sites provide a peaceful stay while still being close to all you seek. This location makes for a great stop over or destination spot.
Guests will wake in the morning to the lovely site and peaceful sounds of the mostly year round residents including pileated and red-bellied woodpeckers, vultures, raccoons, egrets, ibis, hawks, quaker parrots, herons, bluejays, grackles, crows, lizards, mourning doves, gray squirrels, owls, hawks, and occasional sightings of iguanas and turtles. Nights tend to be dark and quiet with minimal traffic noise. We are pet friendly provided your pet is too! Again, this is in a quiet, neighborhood type setting, just a bit off the beaten path. The land is close to 180 miles of local kayak trails (we rent kayaks!), a 10 minute drive from beautiful walking trails, and about an hour from the beach. We offer a rustic composting toilet, a heated outdoor shower, and a simple kitchen with a sink and stovetop.
Note: Flitterbug Farm is in a rural, agricultural part of South Florida. The setting is peaceful, but it’s also alive with the sounds of farm life and wildlife. You may hear roosters, dogs, owls, frogs, and the usual country activity from nearby neighbors. We provide complimentary earplugs for light sleepers, and many guests find the natural soundscape part of the charm, but we want you to know what to expect.

If you’re looking for places to visit for the day or services nearby, you can head to Okeechobee, which is only 20 min away. Lake Placid is only 40 min, Vero Beach is only 1 hr, and Melbourne is 1 hr 30 min.
All of the listed locations offer great opportunities for fishing, hunting, swimming, and beach hangouts. Each of the sites allows for watching the livestock, hanging out at the watering hole, and sitting around the communal campfire.
Our favorite things about our property are privacy, amenities, and all of the roaming mini livestock throughout the property!
Your hosts do not live onsite however, will be available to you during your visit. We are friendly and as non-invasive as we can be. We do love meeting our guests and are available for any questions that come up. Our primary purpose when developing this property was to create a safe space for children with special needs and their families. We are a no judgment zone and adhere to Hipcamp's inclusion policy.

A real working Equestrian farm. My wife and I loved the amazing horse's + donkeys and miniature horses. Grounds are well maintained. The restroom (functionable) hot water shower! Everyone super friendly. All the real farm smells and sounds. We were real lucky good weather all week (4 nights). Our first Hipcamp, will do it again! Let the adventures begin! And Thank You.

I was warmly welcomed at George’s campground! I was not sure at first how I would fare with the campsite being tucked away from the car and the outhouse but it seems the body adapts quite quickly when you get clean air and peaceful quiet time at night. It is a touch of wild forest in the middle of a suburban desert. George has been taking a step by step process to bridge people back to nature. You are experiencing a snapshot of a vision in flux! He is highly communicative whatever your needs and a pleasure to meet! I would gladly return. It is great to be close to town with great food options as well.

Amazing to be able to wake up and feed the horses apples for breakfast! The vibe of the farm and Luiz is welcoming and friendly. Your free to explore and feed the animals which is really cool. We were in campsite #1 and the location is right next to the farm and bathroom which is cool. Unfortunately there are some neighbors on the other side of the fence (campsite backside) that either have dogs that like to bark or neighbors that choose to talk on speakerphone at later hours of the night. Couldn't hear them in our camper too bad but definitely a bit of a dent on the vibe. Especially the dogs. There was a whole side we couldn't walk over too without being yapped at. I saw other campsites deeper in the property that definitely wouldn't have these problems. Even with that though, would definitely stay here again if our travels bring us this way!

We had a very pleasant stay. The tent platform was nice to have, the porta-potty was clean and there was hot water in the shower area. No picnic table or seating area at the site but a communal table right across the path. Having the miniature horses around camp was very fun!

My girlfriend and I just finished a two-night stay at this wonderful location. The property is 5 acres and only hosts a few guests at a time so the campsites felt remote. The host is extremely passionate about permaculture and love to share knowledge - just ask! As it is a native environment you should expect mosquitoes, critters, and everything that comes along with it - including butterflies, dragonflies, and all of natures beauty.
The campsite were tricky to find and I recommend coordinating that in advance, as once the sun goes down, it's DARK.
Overall, a great getaway and I would stay here again. It's a short drive to Blue Heron Bridge and other West Palm locations.

Really secluded sites at the back of a large property. Yes as others have said there is road noise, that said it's not any worse than most KOA campgrounds ive been in.
We had a great stay met some other Hipcampers, but never met face to face with our hosts. The mini horses stopped by to say HI. Lots of bird song and the stars at night were awesome.
Shower outside the horse barn was very nice.
Would stay again when in the area.

Christine & Cal run a good campground.Their property is inviting and in a good location by the highway and the coastal towns. My trip was about decompressing which I was finally able to do at their campsite! The two mini mares are adorable and their little jack russell is the real owner of the place! Shower and fridge amenities are great as well as the water cooler. At night, yes, there is traffic noise but I wasn’t too bothered by it. I heard cows at night from nearby properties which I was not aware that cows mooed at night! Haha!
