It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. The Kissimmee Prairie State Park is very close by. The prairie is the darkest part of Florida. Astronomers, bring your telescopes and cameras to capture the night. You will possibly see cows, bobcats, wild turkeys, wild pigs, armadillos, birds, or the neighbors dogs might show up. Don’t worry, they are quite friendly. We have a 50 amp RV Hookup with NO septic and plenty of space for primitive camping. Bring your horse, but there is no paddock or barn. The storage building on the premises is not part of the rental, please leave it alone. There is electricity and non-potable water. The water is safe for teeth brushing, washing dishes, and showering, but it does have a very strong smell of sulfur. There is an outhouse. Please use it sparingly & only flush toilet paper provided. There is an outside sink, an outside shower with no privacy, a picnic table and a fire pit. If you come with your RV, please use your RV toilet. There will be a major fine for any septic dumping. 1/3 of the land is cleared and 2/3 is full of mature oak trees and trails. It is fenced with barbed wire fencing. Please keep your food trash in your cars & take it with you. You do not want to attract predators. You can recycle, or throw away any trash that is not related to food in the garbage can. About the property Our property is near Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park and Lake Okeechobee. If you’re looking for places to visit for the day or services nearby, you can head to Okeechobee, which is only 20 min away. Lake Placid is only 40 min, Vero Beach is only 1 hr, and Melbourne is 1 hr 30 min. All of the listed locations offer great opportunities for fishing, hunting, swimming, and beach hangouts. Each of the sites allows for watching the livestock, hanging out at the watering hole, and sitting around the communal campfire. It is full of the most beautiful views of the stars and provides peace and quiet, You will be left alone to write that book, let your children run free, meditate, or just relax. Bring your dogs, they will have a blast! This is not a place for glampers, people afraid of nature, or people that cannot deal with bugs or extreme temperatures!!! During certain times of the year and certain times of the day, there are a million bugs! We stay inside during these times. We are 25 minutes from Okeechobee City, the bass fishing capital of the world, 45 minutes to Fort Pierce, & 35 miles from Sebring International Raceway. The Kissimmee Prairie State Park is very close by. The prairie is the darkest part of Florida. Astronomers, bring your telescopes and cameras to capture the night. You will possibly see cows, bobcats, wild turkeys, wild pigs, armadillos, birds, or the neighbors dogs might show up. Don’t worry, they are quite friendly. We have a 50 amp RV Hookup with NO septic and plenty of space for primitive camping. Bring your horse, but there is no paddock or barn. The storage building on the premises is not part of the rental, please leave it alone. There is electricity and non-potable water. The water is safe for teeth brushing, washing dishes, and showering, but it does have a very strong smell of sulfur. There is an outhouse. Please use it sparingly & only flush toilet paper provided. There is an outside sink, an outside shower with no privacy, a picnic table and a fire pit. If you come with your RV, please use your RV toilet. There will be a major fine for any septic dumping. 1/3 of the land is cleared and 2/3 is full of mature oak trees and trails. It is fenced with barbed wire fencing. Please keep your food trash in your cars & take it with you. You do not want to attract predators. You can recycle, or throw away any trash that is not related to food in the garbage can. Keep an eye on your small dogs. There are also snakes and predatory birds. It is hard with words to describe the beauty of this property, so please check out the pictures. Happy Camping!

Weekend Trip to Magical Pond On Flitterbug Farm

A beautiful wide-open glade with a serene pond nearby made this spot absolutely perfect. We enjoyed a small fire right by our tent and camped beneath gorgeous trees that offered welcome shade as the day warmed up. The outdoor kitchen was great for cooking, and the firepit added to the classic camping experience. With virtually no light pollution, the night sky was incredible, stars everywhere. Trina, the host, couldn't have been kinder and even shared some fascinating history about the land. It's and ideal place to unwind and immerse yourself in nature while still being conveniently close to groceries and other essentials. Highly recommend, and we will definitely be returning.

We had a great time camping at this preserve. Michael is very responsive and doesn’t hesitate to answer any questions you may have. When we arrived he had someone ready to show us how to get to our spot which is secluded so very peaceful change from the busy state parks. The site was clean and had great space and coverage. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and would stay again!!

I really enjoyed Trina's place; I loved that she let my dog Bandit, play ball off leash. I think Bandit liked her too because he was right behind her "he normally doesn't leave my site" anyway you are provided with the necessities, a 2-burner propane stove, sink where you wash your dishes, she even filters the drinking water and puts it in a glass jug." how sweet is that" there is an out-house, oh and if you want to soak under the stars, there is an old cast-iron tub, you get to experience the way they did it back in the old days, by building a fire under the tub.! " hot tub "and a fire pit where you can hang out and meet new friends. let's not forget the shower also under the stars. " don't worry you have some privacy there" anyway it was my first hipcamp, Bandit and I had fun. stop by the Flitterbug Farm and tell Trina Norma says hi.

Super cute homestead with good vibes all around. A communal setting with a compost toilet, a shower, water, kitchen, etc. We camped with our 2 dogs and parked right by our site which was nice. Lots of roosters and dogs in the surrounding areas, but the site was pretty peaceful with a nice big tree to pitch our tent under!

We booked a 2nd night. The outdoor shower is amazing. We stayed on lots 2 & 4. Will rebook on 4 (just my preference). Its all about what you're looking for. I haven't stayed at a site that has recent pics on the hip camp site. Don't expect it and you wont be disappointed. I LOVED THIS PLACE. I dont know any tent campers that would not love this place ( I know 0 Glampers). There are hidden treasures all over this property. We had a ball. Enjoy and DONT SKIP THE HONEY! There is reportedly an alligator in the pond. I didn't see it and we all left better than we arrived

We loved tent camping here! I loved that the horses come up to say hello (although keep an eye on your stuff lol!), it was nice to be surrounded by farm animals. There was ample privacy, the bathroom/shower room was spotless and worked well. Stargazing at nighttime was excellent. Luiz was a gracious host and responded quickly to any questions we had. 10/10 recommend!

This is a working farm and venue with great spots to car camp. The preserve on the property is a beautiful old oak hammock to explore. We saw gators, otters, heard coyotes in the distance. Fun spot to unwind for a weekend.

All reviews were in accordance with what we expected and experienced - we had one overnight stop going south and returned for another 3 nights going north. We were the only ones at the RV side of the pond so it gave us lots of privacy. Lovely people, nice outside shower and no other “noise” than the traffic on the road. But that is just the way it is. Having alligators in the pond made it also exotic for us. An easy spot to find and close to the main highway too.

Martin's place was great, I really enjoyed the outdoor shower and the pool! The fire pit was perfect, Martin and I had some nice chats by the fire every night! The area was very quiet and peaceful, and Martin was a perfect host, very friendly and welcoming. Nice shady spot for my van. And, his dog, Lady, was very friendly, and she is very opinionated on the local squirrel population! Overall, I highly recommend Martin's place, it was a very pleasant and relaxing stay, and I will definitely stay here again!
