7 nights at Smokey Acres

My GF and I had been looking for a cabin to stay at and found this lovely location. There are plenty of locations to go biking and kayaking as well. The only issues we found was that the shower would be either really hot or really cold so you had to play with it to shower well. Other than that great experience.

Brian has a piece of heaven and offers it to anyone that wants to enjoy tranquil nature with beautiful views. I am definitely coming back again to spend more time enjoying the simpler life and peace and quiet that surrounds his place. There are cattle nearby and you can hear them mooing along with other animals and birds in the woods. If you’re looking for rustic tranquility this is definitely a great spot for it. Lady is Brian’s dog and she was such a loving animal, she played and played with our dog Becky for what seemed like an hour but actually was maybe 30 minutes :). I’ve been to several places where I would not recommend because of one thing or another but this place was so easy and felt safe I got probably the best rest I’ve had in years. All our thoughts and troubles went away as we enjoyed the sounds of nature knowing that Brian was there if we needed anything. Two thumbs up 👍 👍. We all need to have a special “go to place “ to get away and this definitely clicks all the boxes for us. May God bless Brian and keep his place open for us to enjoy for many years to come.

Weekend Trip to Shannon Trails bring your horses

Canopy over picnic table and an outdoor sofa made our trip so easy when the weather went ugly. There was a big grill and a lot of woods for cooking or just making fire. Bathroom was next to the camping site. Dish soap and sponge were there for us to clean our cooking utensils. Hot water shower is consistent, and good pressure.

I loved camping here! We booked this for Mother’s Day and it was so peaceful and made for a good experience. The nature trail and lake was enjoyable and Hillary was so helpful when I had some questions . Definitely 10/10 recommend!

We only spent one night. It was quiet, peaceful & lovely by the pond. We enjoyed the trail walk with our dog & left the following morning to continue our journey feeling refreshed & relaxed. The bathroom is primitive but our camper is self contained so no problem. Good location & easier to find than I thought it might be - good directions were provided.

Weekend Trip to Boulevard Landing

We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed the easy access to everything. Port richey had local parks where we enjoyed sunset paddle boarding and a good coffee shop nearby in the historic downtown area. We even drove down to Venice beach from here. Solid spot 👍

Weekend Trip to Lucky U Ranch

What a cool little farm! Rob & Mike have an awesome setup on their farm - from the private camp sites to the outdoor shower/bathroom setup they’ve thought of all the small details. Although I was only here for a day, I’d definitely come back for longer next time I’m back in the area. For a first time Hip-Camper they’ve set the bar for what a stay should be. Hands down better than camping on top of others at an RV park or even some cramped state/national parks. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Manatee Delight RV Camp Site

My husband, 2y/o son and our s dog absolutely loved tent camping on Sarah’s land. The old Florida wilderness right at our fingertips was exactly what we needed to escape the city for a couple nights. The swimming hole was like from a fairy tale, stunning and serene. We are already talking about when we can come back ! Thank you again for hosting us.

3 nights at Lucky U Ranch

This was my second trip here with my granddaughter this year. We absolutely love it here. We just love the idea of camping with free roaming horses and donkeys. My granddaughter spends most of the day walking around with them and feeding them apples and carrots. We also really enjoyed hiking the trails. We love taking the tour of the ranch to see all the other animals and hold the baby goats. The campsites and the property have always been well maintained and beautiful. The bathrooms and showers are always clean and you always have hot water. The whole experience that Lucky U provides is simply amazing! The hosts Rob and Mike are the best! They have a genuine love for their animals, property, and people. They provide awesome service and are very accommodating. We are already planning another trip for the summer!

Rob and Mike have a jewel in the crown. Their place is well thought out and the bonus of the horses and donkeys having breakfast with us was wonderful! The showers and coffee bar (an added bonus) are spotless. We will be back again.

Weekend Trip to Collins Farm

We enjoyed our relaxing stay at Collin’s Farm. It was a nice change of pace from our previous Hipcamp sites. We met Jason upon arriving, and he made sure we were squared away on our site. We were disappointed that we didn’t get to meet Erica. The farm animals were fun to watch, and our 11 year old cattledog was fascinated with them as well.

7 nights at Lucky U Ranch

We can’t express enough how lovely this ranch is , a beautiful area to camp with hot showers , and some of the best landscapes to wake up too. Rob & Mike are such pleasant people and made sure we were all set and happy through the stay. We also loved that they offer a weekly ranch tour and show you all the animals and even baby goats ! Probably one of the best “campgrounds” I have stayed at yet. We don’t even consider this a campground because there’s so much space between camps it’s truly such a peaceful space to spend time away. All of the springs , beaches and places to explore are within an hour to hour and a half including a 5 minute drive to the local river boat launch. My only advice to anyone staying is a little bug spray and keep your camps tidy and it’s truly a 10/10 place to stay. We are already planning our trip back to magnolia hill and can’t wait to see Rob & Mike again. If you’re thinking about a stay here , go ahead and book it you truly won’t be disappointed.

Rob & Mike are excellent hosts and offer a very peaceful camping experience. They have provided many extra’s and special touches for their guests. Getting to tour their ranch and visit with goats was a highlight for us. Not to mention being visited by donkeys and horses while enjoying morning coffee. We would definitely camp here again and highly recommend to our friends & family.

Weekend Trip to Happy Campers Rescue Ranch

Arcadio was super helpful upon arriving. He helped us switch campsites with such ease to one that would be more suitable for the amount of people we had and gave a timely refund for the one we didn’t use. The land itself is great, too. There are fire pits, chairs, and tables provided in great condition. Plenty of firewood spread around. And a lot of animal noises (farm and wildlife) that made the trip feel like camping. There’s also a great swimming area like 7 minutes away Arcadia told us about.

Marci's Magical Lakefront Oasis

Beautiful spot overlooking Lake Weir in The Ocala National Forest. Watch the otters play and count the many different birds that make this lake their home. Treat yourself to incredible sunsets every night as the sun disappears into the water and enjoy the awesome reflection of the moon as it sets on the lake. (Check the moonrise/moonset tables to see if there is a visible moon during your intended stay - it really is an incredible sight). We have an amazing outdoor shower, with hot and cold running water, overlooking the lake. The extra large soaking bathtub is available for your use for $20 per stay if there are not other campers at the time due to us only having one bathroom available. Great for relaxing, bathing kids, or a very romantic evening. Canoe, stand up paddle board and kayak available for your use at no charge. You can paddle to nearby Gator Joe's which is an awesome spot on the lake for great food, drinks, and live music. Electric and water hookup (garden hose) both sites. RV 30 amp electric hookup, as well as regular 15 amp electric hookup on hilltop site. Many trees on the property makes it tricky for large vehicles to maneuver, therefor we have a limit of 25 feet including tow vehicle. Dockside site has 15 amp hookup. We do have an adapter to connect to 30 amp hookup. It is closer to the house and bathroom than site 2 and has more shade and easy access to the dock. Pontoon boat rentals are available down the road. Being on the lake we do have mosquitos but they are mostly an issue at dusk and dawn for about an hour but we are out in nature so insect encounters of all kinds are to be expected. If there is a nice breeze, which is often the case, you can enjoy the sunset from the rocker loveseat at the edge of our dock. We also have citronella torches available for rent. We also offer a large bundle of firewood for $10. Campers MUST check in by 10 pm. We recommend arriving during daylight whenever possible. It is important you understand that our property is not in the wilderness. We are NOT a commercial campground. We have a couple of acres in a residential area and there are homes near the campsite. That being said, you will have complete privacy at your campsites as the two sites are on opposite ends of the property and you will not see me at all other than when you check in, unless you desire to do so. Both campsites face the lake however, and you may see some fisherman out there from time to time, but I guarantee you will see much more wildlife than people. Each site has its own fire pit. Our guests love this place because of the lake, the incredible sunsets and moonsets over the lake, and all the incredible wildlife we have here, as you can see from the reviews. Well behaved pets are welcome off leash as long as they are supervised and don't bother other campers. They are not allowed on the porches. Please pick up any mess that is in the path of foot traffic. There is a $20 pet fee per pet per stay. Add it under extras. Pet sitting is available for an additional charge. I'm a professional photographer with 30 years of experience. Please inquire if you are interested in having your portrait made at this incredible location. We are 20 minutes from world famous Silver Springs, 20 minutes from Ocala Drive-In Movie Theater that usually shows great films for both kids and adults, and 20 minutes from the Santos Trailhead that offers world class biking and hiking paths. Unfortunately, I cannot do anything about the people that come here that have not read the description, expecting a wilderness campground and choose to leave a negative review based on that but everyone that has read the description has loved it here and many return.

The Croom Recreational Area is also 3 miles away. If you are traveling with farm animals, we do have (2) 2-acre cross-fenced paddocks available for an additional fee. Down a hidden gravel drive with wetlands on either side you will find a completely fenced in field surrounded by pine, oak, and swamp maple trees. There are two ponds located on the property both stocked with bass, bluegill, and sunfish. The front pond is home to many natural Florida wildlife and is a great location to bird watch. Located a few miles from Brooksville and the Suncoast Parkway, this quiet and peaceful setting is just 5 minutes from the parking area and trailhead for the Suncoast Trail and 10 miles from the famous Weeki Wachee Springs, where you can spend the day at the local park or float down the river with the manatees. Withlacoochee State Park and other natural preserves with trail access and kayaking are only a short distance away, and Dames Cave, Homosassa Springs, and Chasawiska Springs are all within a ~20-minute drive as well. Spending a day at the beach is easy with plenty of options along the Nature Coast. We’re also less than an hour from Tampa and Clearwater and two hours from Orlando. A perfect weekend get-away for anyone looking to “unplug,” Smokey Acres is also a great stop for those passing through the area. We are a close distance to many racing, livestock, boating and fishing events. We have no problem accommodating whatever you’re towing! Whether you'd like a leisurely day on the river or an adventure in the Gulf, there are plenty of boating options nearby. Be sure to make it back to the property in time to enjoy amazing sunsets that bring peace and tranquility to your experience. My Husband and I were married under the oaks and have had our share of campfires together out there. Cotee River Bend

Our RV Campsites are located in a grassy field next to dense woods. Electric and water hookups are included in the RV/Camper sites, but not the Tent Site. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Our newly renovated restrooms on the property have toilets and one shower. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not that remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants. This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers. From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a lazy winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting. We are grateful to all the humans who have occupied this place over the centuries before us for keeping it as nature intended it.
