Blackwater Ranch is a real gem of a property. Lots of activities, plenty of space, and tons of easy access to the river, which is the star of the show. One of the unique features of rivers in this area is their white sand beaches and Blackwater Ranch has some of the best I've seen. The river was low when I visited (drought) but I can tell that even when full it is a fairly shallow and slow moving river with multiple spots that stay shallow due to the way the water deposits sand, making it a great river for younger kids. Even the bugs weren't too bad, which being summer in FL/GA was a welcome surprise. The property is equipped with the necessities for a comfortable experience (water, electricity, pit toilet) but still very primitive and rustic.
I camped one night solo but will certainly be back with a group of friends!

I needed a place close to Mayo Clinic for daily treatments and could not have found a better location. Chrissy was a very accommodating hostess and her yard although on the road felt very private with the landscaping. Very close to all the shopping and restaurants we needed as well as the beautiful Neptune beach. We definitely would stay again.

So quiet and peaceful. We had to be in Jacksonville for multiple meetings and needed to extend our stay twice. Easy booking, fast feedback and privacy. Host was available but not intrusive, he responded quickly when we needed anything. Area was clean, paddleboat available to float around the pond. Conveniently located close enough to town with that out of town feel. We will stay again if we come back to the area.

Vegetable gardens to share, a whole kitchen, washer and dryer, hot tub, games, outdoor shower, and so much more. Perfect location, Mayo Clinic is only 15 minutes away and even closer to the beach. Lots of shopping and restaurants just down the street. The spacious lot is shaded and private despite being close to a fairly busy road at times. Our dog had plenty of room to stretch her legs with the fenced in lot. Chrissy is a very gracious and welcoming host making us feel like part of the family.

Immaculately clean with a huge paved parking / hang out area plus a lush grassy lawn. Easy in and out for our truck and travel trailer.
The host was perfect. Helpful whenever needed but not overly involved.
Having access to our own dock, a fenced yard for our pup and the stunning views of sky and water surrounding us made for an ideal vacation.

Karin and Phil are the best. They have put together a beautiful camping spot in their quiet and fenced area. So many amenities made our stay more like being in a luxury campground but we had the entire property to ourselves. Laundry facilities, a toilet and a shower, sinks for washing up and sinks for washing the dishes, a big beautiful grill and even a hot tub. There are beautiful gardens brimming with vegetables growing right there, and fresh fruits to eat, and even flowers all for the guests! You can tell that Phil and Karin, have big hearts for their guests and they are beautiful people and have a very nice camping spot.

Fort Clinch State Park
For proof that Fernandina Beach does it all, Fort Clinch State Park clinches the deal. As a well-preserved Civil War fort, Fort Clinch contains galleries, beaches, and trails. The fort is simultaneously a park, so in between all of those cannons, tortoises may make an appearance. Incredible views are a common amenity across Fort Clinch campsites, which can accommodate RV, cabin, and tent campers—as well as campers seeking a bungalow, boat, or yurt.
Amelia Island State Park
Head south of Fernandina Beach, and you’ll encounter Amelia Island’s namesake park As one of the Talbot Island State Parks, Amelia Island State Park covers roughly 200 acres of beaches, marshes, and forests. Given this all-encompassing scenery, campers can enjoy a slew of activities. Think: swimming, kayaking, sunbathing, and fishing. If you really love the latter, make sure to stop by George Crady Bridge Fishing Pier State Park to cast your rod with the locals.
Talbot Island
Just below Fernandina Beach—and Amelia Island, for that matter—Talbot Island yet again merges landscapes. Less than 30 minutes south of your Fernandina Beach campsite, you’ll leave one island and enter another. Enjoy a picnic, swim, or hike at Big Talbot Island State Park. Just south of the park, the wetlands of Timucuan Ecological and Historical Preserve beg for a slow morning spent birdwatching and admiring Florida’s marshes.
