We are just a short drive off of I-95 in Coastal Ga, near Brunswick,Ga; only minutes from the beaches of the Golden Isles of Ga, Okefenokee Swamp Park and Northeast Fl. When the "blue roof cottage by the tracks" (yes, it used to have a unique blue roof) hit the market in early 2021, we knew it had to be ours! Drive through with camper or set up a tent. Live oaks on property with abundant nature. Boat ramp near by to access river with your boat. Float down the river on tubes to your camp site. Feel free to use the kayak to explore the river. Bait and tackle nearby with local grocery store. Fire pit and picnic table available. Please note: Our serene 1-acre campsite is accessed via a rural dirt road maintained by the county. While typically navigable by most vehicles, during periods when the Satilla River reaches flood levels (around 12–13 feet), a section of the road may hold water. In such cases, a truck or SUV is recommended—Should it flood we’ll inform you in advance if conditions change. 13 feet and over is flood stage.
After heavy rainfall, the road may become slightly bumpy but generally remains passable, even with a car.
For everyone’s safety and comfort, Quiet hours begin at 9 PM—please respect the natural setting and fellow campers.

For over 24 years, Doyle Watson—along with his wife Lee, two daughters, local friends from Hortense, and a whole lot of heart—has shaped this hidden haven into a space where people can slow down, unplug, and reconnect with what matters most.
What began as a single tiny cabin in 1999 has grown into five hand-built cabins, each crafted from local and reclaimed materials and brimming with rustic character. One cabin, the Briar Patch, was once an old tobacco barn and still holds its original door as a proud piece of history.
Every cabin, every trail, and every campfire circle has a story—and if you’re lucky, you might hear a few from Doyle himself as you walk the land, sit beneath the stars, or join him on a Tractor Trailer Ride.
Before becoming the peaceful retreat center it is today, FoxPen was once a fox-hunting preserve—hence the name. When the Watson family purchased the property, they kept the name but relocated the foxes, allowing the land’s natural wildlife to thrive.

This is a great little campground, if you want to get away from it all! I kept waiting for the weather to cooperate (was a bit chilly!) to go out in my kayak on the nearby river, but the one day it might’ve been OK I already had plans to be nearby on Jekyll Island. Ron and the campground host Kathy were both very welcoming and helpful.

It is very nice setup up with the concrete pad. Quiet little town, until a train comes through. But I slept through the night. no problem. I think trains go through about every 45 minutes to an hour and a half. I was speaking to a train spotter and he said about 3500 rail cars go by every day. Town main street is very small with a few businesses but most were closed on Mondays.

1 night at The Loft At Praise Acres
I got in late and left early so I didn't get the full experience. That said, the communication and directions were good. It was close enough to rt 95 to make the quick overnight convenient. The place was clean and well appointed. You are staying on a farm so I would expect the normal farm sounds like cows and roosters. Plenty of parking and room for my small boat and trailer.

We showed up at Deep Bend Landing for just a nights stay while passing through. Passing through sounds interesting in this area because this campground is waaaaay back in the country, but my wife and I are photographers—having a hobby side with abandonment, etc. There’s plenty of this genre in the deep country of Georgia.
Even though I didn’t get the notifications, Ron worked hard to contact us so we would not be lost when we got there. Meeting with a smile and handshake, he showed us to our location and offered any answers to questions we had.
A little about the campground. This is a no frills location. While that does not appeal to some, it’s an absolutely dreamboat to people like my wife and I. The area was so peaceful and the campground was extremely quiet and peaceful—despite having multiple spots filled. The sites were spacious with lots of shade. This is the PERFECT campground for people who just want time in nature—camping. While we were just passing through this time, we’ve discussed returning on another date to possibly stay for a few days and comb the area for photography treasures.

My bestie has stayed here a few times and loves it. We were looking for a stop halfway way through are drive home and I suggested it. He wanted to make sure i understood it was not going to be quiet, I had purchased ear plugs for this stop. The grounds were clean and well maintained. Yes there were trains that went by but honestly it did not affect my sleep. It was really neat to experience it and I would definitely return.
