Holland Glen, a popular hiking spot with waterfalls and swimming holes is a quick 3-minute drive to the trail head. It is an easy 1-mile ride to the start of the Norwotuck Rail Trail a paved bike path through wetlands and rolling farmland. Or simply stay put, unplug, and relax in one of the hammocks or enjoy our one of a kind wood-fired hot tubs! Our guests are welcome to wander around our little homestead have your coffee in the pollinator patch and watch the hummingbirds, butterflies and bees do their thing. Feed the chickens, then nibble your way through our berry patches, fruit trees and gardens and experience what it is like to live simply in New England. This property has been in my family for three generations. It is classic Connecticut with hills and streams and stone walls.
The octagon is a private 122 ft.² that is electrified and heated. It has a full size bed, cabinet and table with chairs. It sits next to a brook on 56 acres of forest with a pond, small waterfall, marsh and 2 1/2 miles of hiking trails. There is a fire pit and outdoor dining area next to the octagon. We also have a propane outdoor grill and propane two burner camp stove. Out house with composting toilet close to octagon is heated. A great place to rejuvenate in the forest! Dogs welcome.

This was exactly what we needed as an escape from the big city! The cabin was cozy and peaceful, you could hear peepers and see the stars, and the goats were adorable. Melissa was a great host and we had everything we needed. Super close to Great Barrington with adorable shops and good food. We’ll definitely be back!

The hut was very clean, quiet, and scenic. The site is really peaceful and private, yet close to all the activities that we wanted to do, like hiking and strolling Northampton. The spotlight of this place was the hot tub!! It was amazing to be in the hot tub in the woods. I felt 100 times more relaxed than those jacuzzi filled with chemically treated water. We will definitely be back!

Close to Lenox and more. We loved the quiet and the cabin. The outdoor shower was excellent. Comfy bed. No roosters waking early. Kitchenette has everything you need.

1 night at Water Forest Retreat
Five stars aren’t enough to describe our stay at the picturesque Octagon. This is a perfect getaway for a solo traveler or couple. Nancy thought of all the details, and we felt so welcomed. We cooked dinner over the bonfire, and in addition to the tiny house, enjoyed the outdoor shower and a hike through this beautiful property. I hope to return one day!

I can't tell you how grateful I was for Andrea (and her whole family)'s hospitality. We were through-hiking the Robert Frost Trail and ran into some weather and other issues. We arrived terribly late at night, soaking wet, with nonfunctional phones. I don't want to describe all the "trail magic" they provided because I don't want to set unreasonable expectations for future campers. But my friend and I would not have been able to continue our hike the next day without their unexpected kindness and help. My only complaint is that we had to leave fairly early as well and didn't have a chance to properly enjoy this sweet little place! So I hope to come back another time!!

This was our second time staying at the Hiker's Haven. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We had a lovely little fire in the fire pit. The trails are well maintained. It all made for a very rejuvenating stay. We do hope to stay again in the future, maybe it will become a yearly tradition.

I would love to take this time to express the wonderful time I had. The tranquility was exactly what I was looking for. The cabin had all the necessities needed to get comfortable and enjoy nature right at your feet. Nancy was such a joy to speak with and to get to know. The land itself is beautiful with so many wonderful trails to walk along. Would definitely recommend staying here to anyone and everyone. AHO!

This site is such a magical place! The Fern Gully Sanctuary cabin is adorable and had everything we needed. It got pretty chilly on our second night but Andrea was so kind and brought us some extra blankets to make sure we stayed warm. It was also the perfect mix of wilderness and civilization for an impromptu fall camp trip!
