We do have neighbors, but the property is pretty well tucked away. You may see the occasional vehicle or hiker on the road or hear someone doing some yard work, but it is generally very quiet and secluded at the yurt.
Our neighbors have chosen to live in Marble for its privacy and tranquillity. Please show them respect by keeping the noise down and leaving them be.

Winter camping experience/equipment and a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle with severe snow-rated tires and chains may be required to access the yurt Oct-April. The entrance is right off of highway 135, 8 miles north of Gunnison. Come down the driveway and take a right into the field. The tent is nestled against the cottonwoods far enough away from the main house for complete privacy.
Relax on the property or use it as your adventure base camp. Less than a mile from Gunnison river access, National Forest access in hunting units 54 and 55. Not far from units 66 and 67. Almont is a 2 minute drive, Gunnison is about 10 minutes away and Crested Butte is about 20 minutes from the property.
The queen size bed will be made (additional cots can be added with advance notice) and the kitchen has a two burner propane camp stove, tea pot, pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, mugs, and utensils. It is stocked with drinking water, oil, S&P, coffee, tea, marshmallows and fresh eggs from our chickens will be provided daily.
The tent is equipped with a wood burning stove and stocked with firewood. Additional firewood can be purchased. Kindling and fire starters are also available at no charge- let us do the hard work - you RELAX! Electricity is provided, so you can charge your phone or whatever else you need.
Enjoy your private fire pit, chill in the rocking camping chairs, or walk across the field to the main house and enjoy the hot tub on the deck. You may spot our horse "Sassy" or some of our chickens roaming around.
A porta potty is situated near (but not too near) the tent for your convenience. Towels and wash cloths are also provided.

One of the valleys last original stone homes dating back to 1845. We have been restoring the buildings made from the stone. The main house which is not yet finished has beautiful etched glass windows of the cattle drives.
James Hinds the homesteader and original owner of the ranch created the ware and hinds ditch which supplies our abundant Valley water. He was a prominent attorney and got our water rights given to us forever from President Harrison.
Currently, the ranch is running on an open range policy. Livestock is not fenced in, so please be cautious and understand that you are camping at your own risk. Please do not feed the animals (even though they are friendly they can get rambunctious) and keep all dogs on leash at ALL times.

After traveling the US in our motorhome for almost 5 years my husband Scott and I know the value of a smiling face and a helping hand after a day (or week) of travel. Exploring and experiencing this amazing country, its diversity and incredible people enhanced our lives in so many ways.

We have a lovely, shady, and quiet property about a mile outside of Paonia- just a 20 minute walk, or a few minutes bike ride into town. The camping spot is shaded and secluded with hookups on site, as well as a flush toilet and sink in rustic out house and is about 150 feet from the main house. There are a lot of birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and foxes around, and we do our best to respect them!

The House where we live is the corner stone of the Bruce Property and is on the Colorado Register of Historic Houses.The residence was constructed between 1905 and 1912, using red bricks made on the site. John and Sophia Bruce, early pioneers in the North Fork Valley, were first involved in cattle raising. The family later became successful fruit growers. Tim was extremely helpful and kind! He cares for his land and is warm and welcoming to share with others! He helped us pack our things to our site and provided recommendations of beautiful places to hike in the area. Also, I feel like it was a bargain to stay with him (he provided a table, flat area to post up a tent, some supplies like a mallet and trash bags and dish soap and also there’s a drop toilet on site). We brought our dog and she loved it too. Will definitely try to come here again!

Tim has created something really special here. His land is surrounded by beautiful forest in a quiet, tucked-away area. Tim has conceptualized and built each campsite by hand, with level tent pads on wood chips he’s chipped himself. We stayed in one of his glamping sites. Comfortable and cozy. And Tim provided water, a cooler, ice packs, chairs, a propane fire pit, a camp stove, utensils and cleaning supplies, and more. He couldn’t have been more hospitable and made our trip easy. He’s also highly knowledgeable of hiking options in the area. If considering staying here, I would only note that you will have to walk uphill to get to your site, but if you’re capable it is absolutely worth it! Tim also has wagons that make it easier to get your supplies to the site. Thank you, Tim, for an incredible stay. We can’t wait to return!

Tim was very helpful and responsive to all our questions! He helped us bring all our stuff up to campsite D in hand wagons. It’s a short walk from the parking lot but it is a little steep, so good to keep in mind while packing but really overall not a big deal. We still opted for the campsite a little further up. It was nice and secluded and we couldn’t really hear any of the other campsites. We were surprised to hear that Tim has only been doing Hipcamp on his property for a short while. He has it really dialed in. He had a dish basin, trash bags, a fire ring, toilet paper, camping chairs, and the best part was easily having access to potable water. Tim told us about all the changes and improvements he’s making to the property and we’re really excited to come back and see them all in future seasons!

Weekend Trip to Gondola Village at Holy Cross
We had a wonderful stay at Gondola Village - would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique backcountry adventure. The hike in was beautiful and enjoyable - about 3 miles, taking us around 3 hours because we took our time, soaked in the scenery, and chatted with a few friendly hikers along the way. There were plenty of opportunities to collect and filter water from the creeks, so we realized that carrying 2–3 liters each from the trailhead wasn’t really necessary.
Once we arrived, the area felt peaceful and remote. We enjoyed exploring the remnants of Holy Cross City, visiting Cleveland Lake, and filtering water from the nearby streams. We brought all of our own gear, but it was nice to find the hut well stocked with useful supplies, and the outdoor shower was a great bonus after a day of hiking.
One tip for future guests: when you arrive, open the windows and screens for a few minutes to let the moths out before settling in. Once it gets dark, keeping the lights off helps avoid attracting more. The views from the hut are absolutely incredible and made for a memorable place to relax.
The only unexpected part of our trip was being awakened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday by a group on ATVs, but otherwise it was remarkably quiet. We only encountered a couple of small groups at Cleveland Lake… on our hike out, which took us about 2 hours, we didn’t see another person until we reached the parking lot.
This was a fantastic and unique experience-we enjoyed our time!!!

Our little girls LOVED all of the animals they got to meet - it really was a highlight of their trip and a bonus for us. Ginger’s place was excellent and even better than the pictures showed! The views were incredible and the inside was bigger than expected. I loved the outdoor shower. The bathroom situation is unique- I’ve never used a dry toilet before. The stars at night were super bright. Definitely recommend screenshotting her instructions on how to get to the property once you lose cell service but the instructions are very accurate. I purchased one of the hand made cards to send home which was a nice touch. The location is really close to Basalt but you feel like you’re the only one on the mountain. We used it as home base to go between Aspen and Carbondale. Would love to visit again.

My family adored the Aspen Yurt. We had to change camping plans last minute due to an injury, and once we found this location, we were sold. Our vacation was not canceled, just happily adapted. Aspen Yurt was everything we wanted, and it was so beautiful. Roomy enough for a grown family of 4. The outdoor freshwater tub was a hit, along with the beautiful outdoor shower. Great memories were made.

With pets
While you do hear and see all of the hwy 24 traffic, the location is a great spot to do some epic day trips nearby. You also get the sounds of cows, roosters, donkeys, and turkeys, which was fun for us. This site gets great shade most of the day, but depending on where you set up, you might roast mid day like we did. The bathrooms and showers were clean and super close to this site. The walk to the river is easy, and has great access to fish or soak. The hosts are great! Definitely recommend.
