The trip up can be challenging (only off-road, winch / locker equipped vehicles dare try the 759 Holy Cross City jeep road, others will need to hike in at least 2.5 miles), but the views and cabins are well worth the trek. Snow free season tends to be June 15 an October 30 annually, and outside of this guests should be prepared for up to 11 miles of over-snow travel with no cars allowed (a bit less depending on snow coverage in the shoulder seasons from May 21 - early June and late October - November 21)

These cabins are very different in their own ways, they run on solar, but we do have a back up generator for emergency use! All our cabins have electricity! It is 10x14 with a 3x14 covered porch but finished inside like a 5 star hotel. AC, TV, Wifi, fireplace, comfortable queen size bed. Beetle kill tongue and groove ceiling, cultured barn wood wanes coating. It's super nice. The ranch itself may be the reason for the "glamp" booking. The yard is manicured and the 25 house, goats and chickens are fun to see. The big plus is we are only 20 minutes away from the Grand Mesa outdoorsman mecca. This is probably the cheapest base camp to the Mesa. The ranch is a great base camp to wineries, Moab, Telluride, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, fishing, boating, hiking, trails and hundreds of open BLM land for Razor riding. Check us out.

This off-grid cabin has running water, full kitchen & nice bathroom w/ shower via solar PV system, propane appliances & backup generator. NO PETS and must have AWD or 4WD vehicle, no exceptions. Owner's personal residence, treat it nicely! The space Cozy and open floorplan is ideal for a couple or up to 4 people. The loft above has a deluxe king size bed facing East for glorious sunrises over the West Elk mountains. The other side of the loft has a trundle bed where the lower twin bed rolls out from underneath the upper twin bed. There is also a standing desk with a Dell docking station and large monitor in the loft. No audible privacy other than the bathroom; everything is open. Pellet stove for heat if needed and backup propane heaters on the main level. Nice live edge furniture throughout (coasters and placemats provided, please use them!) and cherry rocking chairs for watching whatever streaming services you have subscriptions to on the entertainment center. Solid wood deck furniture and BBQ. Occasionally ATVs will pass by, neighbors have an easement to the forest but they will not use my land except to cross it. Guest access You can access the entire 72 acres and all of the cabin except for a few secured closet/pantry areas for the owner/cleaning crew. The generator/solar system shed is also locked. Plenty of parking. AWD or 4WD is preferred but it is a gravel road. Welcome to bring ATVs, go hunt in the adjacent National Forest, bring horses and your own hay, etc. Other things to note You may need to run the generator a few hours per day which is as simple as turning a switch in the kitchen if it is cloudy. If the weather is nice then the solar system will generally take care of everything. AT&T works well here and wifi calling via starlink internet.

Gondola Village at Holy Cross is at 11.5k feet above sea level (believed to be the highest altitude Hipcamp in the world). Gondola Village at Holy Cross has been featured on Discovery Channel’s Reclaimed, Airbnb's OMG! Fund, Arch Digest, and the site of many product shoots. The managers of this property have worked in yurt, ADU, and cabin construction and hospitality for many years and have brought together some of the best Scandinavian and modern design with a mining town aesthetic. The trip up can be challenging (only off-road, winch / locker equipped vehicles dare try the 759 Holy Cross City jeep road, others will need to hike in at least 2.5 miles), but the views and cabins are well worth the trek. Snow free season tends to be June 15 an October 30 annually, and outside of this guests should be prepared for up to 11 miles of over-snow travel with no cars allowed (a bit less depending on snow coverage in the shoulder seasons from May 21 - early June and late October - November 21)

These cabins are very different in their own ways, they run on solar, but we do have a back up generator for emergency use! All our cabins have electricity! The yard is manicured and the 25 house, goats and chickens are fun to see. The big plus is we are only 20 minutes away from the Grand Mesa outdoorsman mecca. This is probably the cheapest base camp to the Mesa. The ranch is a great base camp to wineries, Moab, Telluride, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, fishing, boating, hiking, trails and hundreds of open BLM land for Razor riding. Check us out.

Owner's personal residence, treat it nicely! The space Cozy and open floorplan is ideal for a couple or up to 4 people. The loft above has a deluxe king size bed facing East for glorious sunrises over the West Elk mountains. The other side of the loft has a trundle bed where the lower twin bed rolls out from underneath the upper twin bed. There is also a standing desk with a Dell docking station and large monitor in the loft. No audible privacy other than the bathroom; everything is open. Pellet stove for heat if needed and backup propane heaters on the main level. Nice live edge furniture throughout (coasters and placemats provided, please use them!) and cherry rocking chairs for watching whatever streaming services you have subscriptions to on the entertainment center. Solid wood deck furniture and BBQ. Occasionally ATVs will pass by, neighbors have an easement to the forest but they will not use my land except to cross it. Guest access You can access the entire 72 acres and all of the cabin except for a few secured closet/pantry areas for the owner/cleaning crew. The generator/solar system shed is also locked. Plenty of parking. AWD or 4WD is preferred but it is a gravel road. Welcome to bring ATVs, go hunt in the adjacent National Forest, bring horses and your own hay, etc. Other things to note You may need to run the generator a few hours per day which is as simple as turning a switch in the kitchen if it is cloudy. If the weather is nice then the solar system will generally take care of everything. AT&T works well here and wifi calling via starlink internet.

The loft above has a deluxe king size bed facing East for glorious sunrises over the West Elk mountains. The other side of the loft has a trundle bed where the lower twin bed rolls out from underneath the upper twin bed. There is also a standing desk with a Dell docking station and large monitor in the loft. No audible privacy other than the bathroom; everything is open. Pellet stove for heat if needed and backup propane heaters on the main level. Nice live edge furniture throughout (coasters and placemats provided, please use them!) and cherry rocking chairs for watching whatever streaming services you have subscriptions to on the entertainment center. Solid wood deck furniture and BBQ. Occasionally ATVs will pass by, neighbors have an easement to the forest but they will not use my land except to cross it. Guest access You can access the entire 72 acres and all of the cabin except for a few secured closet/pantry areas for the owner/cleaning crew. The generator/solar system shed is also locked. Plenty of parking. AWD or 4WD is preferred but it is a gravel road. Welcome to bring ATVs, go hunt in the adjacent National Forest, bring horses and your own hay, etc. Other things to note You may need to run the generator a few hours per day which is as simple as turning a switch in the kitchen if it is cloudy. We had a lovely (but challenging, carrying a toddler) hike up and stay at Cabin #2. The cabin was quaint, clean and more well-appointed than expected (I guess we didn't need to pack a hatchet?). It was hovering around freezing when we arrived, but we got the stove lit and got the space up into the 50s for a comfortable night. Sunrise was lovely from bed and we finished our trip with a hike up to the lake in the morning before descending to the car.

We loved this special little village. It's a very well-kept cabin and has everything you could need. The hike in was a bit tough, but well worth it and very straightforward! We were able to see lots of wildlife and enjoy time at the nearby lake. There's a marmot that runs around the abandoned town and plenty of pika in the surrounding area. Will remember this trip for a while.

What an absolute GEM of a spot! Went up for a little solo retreat, and the cabin had absolutely everything I needed for a cozy camping experience but with a roof over my head and all camping basics provided plus a little more! I hiked over to Cleveland Lake, enjoyed the cozy cabin at night, and woke up to a stunning sunrise. It’s a relatively accessible spot, meaning you don’t have to hike very many miles to get there, but you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere in only the best way. Would absolutely come again!!!

Incredible stay at Ben’s gondola village! We hiked in from the 727/759 intersection and it was a BURNER but so worth it for the views. We are new to packing in and WAY overpacked our packs. Plenty of propane there, save yourself some weight. The sunrises were absolutely magical! You can watch them from the hut or walk down to the gondolas for a good view. The hut is so cozy, we could have stayed in there all day. We did take a hike up the road for a quick dip in Cleveland Lake and will be dreaming about it until we return. Absolutely freezing but beautiful! Will hold this place near and dear to my heart forever. Can’t wait to be back!

We (our dog included) enjoyed walking around the ranch and saying hello to the horses every morning. The temperatures were high when we stayed but the cabin had an AC that kept us cool when needed, which we especially appreciated. The cabin felt private but not remote, which was perfect for our needs.
