By following Biblical guidelines for work and agriculture, this land has come to life! It is proving to be an oasis where people find peace while enjoying the serenity of the surroundings.
The clamping Cabin sits behind the horse arena and in front of Tongue Creek. It's the cutest little cabin and we mean little, more like an expertly finished big shed. It is 10x14 with a 3x14 covered porch but finished inside like a 5 star hotel. AC, TV, Wifi, fireplace, comfortable queen size bed. Beetle kill tongue and groove ceiling, cultured barn wood wanes coating. It's super nice.
The ranch itself may be the reason for the "glamp" booking. The yard is manicured and the 25 house, goats and chickens are fun to see. The big plus is we are only 20 minutes away from the Grand Mesa outdoorsman mecca. This is probably the cheapest base camp to the Mesa.
The ranch is a great base camp to wineries, Moab, Telluride, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, fishing, boating, hiking, trails and hundreds of open BLM land for Razor riding. Check us out.

Well-appointed log cabin at 9000' on Grand Mesa w/ Starlink internet on 72 acres borders National Forest and boasts unmatched views, massive aspen groves, and direct access to West Green Mountain trail (~1/4 mile away from the north edge of the property). This off-grid cabin has running water, full kitchen & nice bathroom w/ shower via solar PV system, propane appliances & backup generator. NO PETS and must have AWD or 4WD vehicle, no exceptions. Owner's personal residence, treat it nicely!
The space
Cozy and open floorplan is ideal for a couple or up to 4 people. The loft above has a deluxe king size bed facing East for glorious sunrises over the West Elk mountains. The other side of the loft has a trundle bed where the lower twin bed rolls out from underneath the upper twin bed. There is also a standing desk with a Dell docking station and large monitor in the loft. No audible privacy other than the bathroom; everything is open. Pellet stove for heat if needed and backup propane heaters on the main level. Nice live edge furniture throughout (coasters and placemats provided, please use them!) and cherry rocking chairs for watching whatever streaming services you have subscriptions to on the entertainment center. Solid wood deck furniture and BBQ. Occasionally ATVs will pass by, neighbors have an easement to the forest but they will not use my land except to cross it.
Guest access
You can access the entire 72 acres and all of the cabin except for a few secured closet/pantry areas for the owner/cleaning crew. The generator/solar system shed is also locked. Plenty of parking. AWD or 4WD is preferred but it is a gravel road. Welcome to bring ATVs, go hunt in the adjacent National Forest, bring horses and your own hay, etc.
Other things to note
You may need to run the generator a few hours per day which is as simple as turning a switch in the kitchen if it is cloudy. If the weather is nice then the solar system will generally take care of everything.
AT&T works well here and wifi calling via starlink internet.

We are located on Highway 330 East in Collbran, CO. We are 9 miles past the Vega turn heading East.
We sit around 7600 elevation.

Cabin Rustic-
This cabin is very unique and off grid! Sleeping for up 8 guest. It recently had solar electricity installed, outhouse, outdoor shower unit with hot water, (outdoor shower not available in winter moths) and WiFi! Wood burner and propane heating options.
These cabins are very different in their own ways, they run on solar, but we do have a back up generator for emergency use! All our cabins have electricity! Generator will run 3 times a day in high power demand or low sunlight conditions to ensure there is always power and access to utilities.

What a great place to stay! Clean, pretty orchards, and with the basic amenities. Dirk even added a small microwave so I could heat my tea and breakfast in the morning. Comfy bed and the outdoor shower is cool. I didn't use it because it was such a short stay, but how fun!

Loved the cabin and the location was perfect! The bed was comfortable, with a good size fridge and lots out outlets too, so it had everything we needed.
We were also able to bike to nearby wineries and walk through Dirk's orchards as well! The outdoor shower was amazing and such a nice treat during hot summer days. The fire pit was great too - I highly recommend staying here! Dirk was a fantastic and friendly host - than you so much!

We were lucky to have the entire place to ourselves. I have a feeling the popularity will boom with this property. The views are great, peaches are amazing, it’s centrally located and the hosts are top notch. The AC and ceiling fan were so welcome after 90* days as well. We brought our camper van and upgraded to this spot for the AC but I’m sure on cooler days, spot #1 would be all we need. Oh, and the peaches…..

I was already looking forward to not having to set up a tent … but power? A fridge? AC 🤩😱🤩
After a 5 Hour Dr. in 100° and a full car - having a place to cool off was an awesome surprise. A nice 150 sq ft space with a comfy bed and bedding. What an easy stop. There also is plenty of fire wood and a fire pit with nice seating space and overall just a quiet and serene area to enjoy by ourselves. It was a great stay that I’d recommend anytime and looks like he has plans for a shower in the near future. There’s running water for dishes ( still just a porta potty.)
But what really really set things apart? We happened to come in the summer months and on a heavy peach harvesting weekend. Dirk was so generous and guided us up to one of the Orchards he oversees to allow us to pick the BEST PEACHES IN THE COUNTRY! Truly … if you aren’t from the area and you’re unfamiliar with Palisade, peaches they are renowned for a reason 😉

We had an amazing time! Our stay was perfect, it fit every need that we had! Bed was super comfy. A/C was amazing. Had a great time using the fire pit and looking up at the stars. Location was perfect. Everything that we wanted to do and see was a maximum of 5 minutes away! Would absolutely stay here again. Dirk is awesome! Since our stay was during peach season, they would leave us peaches everyday, such a nice touch and so kind. It genuinely made our day! 10/10 would recommend.

We had a great stay in the ranch for a couple of nights, Dave & Barb were kind and thoughtful hosts. We (our dog included) enjoyed walking around the ranch and saying hello to the horses every morning. The temperatures were high when we stayed but the cabin had an AC that kept us cool when needed, which we especially appreciated. The cabin felt private but not remote, which was perfect for our needs.

The property was very well maintained. The cabin was exactly as described in the listing. The property was quiet and seemed private. Being on a real ranch with horses, a cow, donkeys, some goats and chickens was an added bonus. There are many red winged blackbirds and doves on the property. The location was perfect for going on hikes nearby.

This place is a hidden gem. I really enjoyed the quaint and cozy vibes. The wood stove functioned well and kept the place hot. The wifi was a pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed the friendly pupper dog. There was a potter poty , but no shower. As hiker's and backpackers we are okay with the rustic. If you stay here, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful drive and wilderness area
We drove from south to north on the scenic bypass and really enjoyed it. Our class A RV struggled a little getting up the steep inclines but it was no problem and the roads are well maintained and wide. The top of the Mesa is beautiful high meadow and lakes and it's worth exploring or just doing the drive.

Quiet, idyllic little campground. Sites are mixed within the spruce trees. No mosquitoes but it was cooler and it rained both days we were there. I imagine that kept them at bay. Site 11 is perfect if you want to be away from the bathroom traffic and have a site that backs up into the forest. Bring your own water as this campground is dry. We stayed there over Labor Day. The drive up to Grand Mesa is quite a unique experience. You go from desert sagebrush to aspen glens to alpine forests in a span of 45 mins. I love Colorado.

I went during the winter when there was about 4ft of snow. Although it was very could it was a lot of fun. The campground is beautiful and I would highly recommend it to others. Great because it is close to the town of Ouray but far enough away to get the feel of really being out there. A few houses close by but still a very quite and beautiful area.

First come, first serve. Better hurry on the weekends to find a primo spot! Beautiful drive in and gorgeous meadows filled with flowers in the summertime. Pretty picturesque place to pitch the tent for the night.
