We were across from the bathroom and the deer flies were crazy. Bug spray did not help. The camp director does not have firewood so please be sure to bring some. The camp itself is clean and well maintained but the deer flies at our spot were really bad. Not sure if it was because we were so close to the bathroom.

CAMP HOSTS WERE THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN! We arrived and immediately paid our fees. A few hours later, the hosts came around and told us that we had not paid and that we needed to leave within 15 minutes, or we could get a ticket. Being EXTREMELY RUDE the whole time, we drove back down to the fee box to check. we couldn’t find it (though it was stolen?) and the host kept telling us we were liars and that they do a thorough job checking. So, we packed up all of our stuff, and the hosts came around 10 minutes later and told us they had found our envelope and said “i guess we could stay.” with ZERO apology or any kind-heartedness. While is was very pretty, i will not be going back due to the absolute rude attitude of the camp hosts. terrible

Spent 3 nights at Little Lyman Lake to get out of the Heat. This is a wonderful campground with 6 small RV campsites and 4 tent sites. Sites 2, 3, 8 and 10 are pull thru. Site 1 is a double back in and 9 is a deep back in. There’s two very clean pit toilets but no water. Doesn’t sound like they will ever get water back so bring enough with you as we could not find any even in Mountain View. The host, Matthew drives up from Meeks Cabin multiple times every day and checks to see if you need anything, he is the greatest caretaker. There is only a few negatives. There’s a lot of people who come into the site to use the bathrooms and fish without paying the day use fee. They did leave some trash in the toilets and around the lake. People also wa

Great site in the woods about 45 mins from Salt Lake City. Stopped here on a road trip when the first campground we stopped at it was closed for the season.
Tall trees provide some privacy, so even though sites are close together it doesn't feel like it! Camp hosts were super nice and sold us firewood. The bathrooms have flush toilets and are super clean. If you can get a site next to the stream, would recommend, as it's lovely and has a nice soothing bubbling creek sound. Had perfect service here on Verizon, enough to work for several hours via hotspot on my laptop.
Did a lovely hike nearby at Silver Lake. Were tons of other hikes nearby with waterfalls, lakes, etc etc. There is also a cute diner nearby. Definitely recommend this spot!

The camp ground is fairly easy to get to, but sites are really tight. This is NOT the place to take a large trailer or motor home! It's best left for tent camping. Sites are very close to each other. You hear everything. This wouldn't be a problem if people were mindful and considerate of their neighbors. Unfortunately for us, our neighbors were FAR from considerate, and were VERY noisy. They have water spigots, but they were all covered and not working. Why? Also, it's not level, tables, stoves, tent areas, etc were slopped, rocks everywhere. They did have plenty of shade though.
Campground wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. I don't recommend it.

I have camped here a number of times and enjoyed many a campfire with hotdogs and s'mores. I grew up in Mapleton and this city and camp area hold a special place in my heart. It's beautiful and peaceful.

This campground is in a beautiful setting, but unless you’re into dirt bikes and OHVs, I wouldn’t recommend it. There are only 12 established campsites, each with deteriorating shelters, picnic tables and fire pits, however dispersed camping appears to be allowed in an unlimited way. When we were there, midweek, there were around 50 RVs parked around the reservoir. What could be a very beautiful and pleasant getaway is being ruined by the lack of oversight in this free, National Forest campground.

We go to hoop lake every year and we love it! But be warned, most of the time their water is unavailable and when it is available there is no guarantee that it is potable. It's best to bring your own water in. We learned that the hard way and spent a week long trip with no water in our rv.

was up for a weekend in mid-September 2019. Excellent, well-run USFS campground. A number of small group (20) sites, several large group (100) sites. Pets allowed in main campground, but not on the beach. No pets in secondary campground, except for service animals. My dog and I enjoyed our weekend. Vault toilets, potable water at a number of points. metal picnic tables, fire rings, pedestals. level, paved parking. Camp hosts are active in policing the campground.

If there is a camp host you might have a good experience. For my last stay there was no host and our reserved spot was hijacked by another group. With no one around to confirm that and it being near midnight we had to camp in the abandoned Camp Host site. The grounds were badly in need of cleaning as were the bathrooms. Campers have also been taking axes to the trees since ready firewood is scarce. This campground is next to a main road so there is some noise. We stayed in site 6 the second night and it was quiet. Safety is a concern for tent campers next to a major roadway with no host. There is a beautiful short trail you can use to see the sun rise over Bear Lake- it's in the back of the campground between 2 bathrooms.

I think ya'll might have Granite Flat in American Fork Canyon, UT confused with Granite Creek in Jackson, WY. Unless I've missed it all these years, there's not a hot spring at Granite Flat. There's one in the valley below the canyon though. There's also not any desert here, but (again) you can find the desert down in the valley.
STILL, this is a great campsite (I got married here--it's that great!), but I don't want anyone bummed that they traveled all that way for the hot springs and end up disappointed.

Butterfly lake gets a lot of day use traffic since it is right off of Mirror Lake highway. It really quiets down in the evening though and the sun reflects on Hayden Peak.

I would recommend. It is easily accessible and the lake is smaller so the crowds are not as pressing. There is a wonderful hike directly west, high on a plateau that is an impressive, exclusive place because it takes some scrambling to get to it initially.

Nice little park close to town for people who don't want to head deep into the wilderness. Room for pick-up games of baseball or soccer, deep shade, and not far to trailheads. Lots of shade.

When we arrived, the fire in Brian Head really impacted our views as the wind was blowing smoke right towards us. We went to Ruby's to do an ATV trip, and the winds came and took the smoke in another direction. We were there during their Star Party. Bring warm clothes as it cools off at night. Also bring your patience as some of the bigger telescopes had long lines. During the day, this is a beautiful park. Please stay on the trail, for erosion protection and safety if no other reason. My daughter was just touching a rock formation, and part broke off. Amazing sunsets!

Moosehorn great place to camp, love it. but note this year (2017) camp host is a grumpy old man, no personality and quite rude. His wife is a bit nicer to deal with.

my favorite campground off the mirror lake highway. Sunlight & sunrise is the best. Also kids fairy forest off to the south of campground 100 ft into the woods of site 4. Potable water, non flushing toilets that smell badly in summer, especially womens.

This was a decent campground, but not for those who camp in a tent. The hosts were very friendly and helpful! My biggest complaint was that almost every site was used by people who ran generators ALL DAY. If you're looking for some peace and quiet, this is not the campground for you.

Stayed In site A004 July '15. Plenty of tree cover, HUGE spot with enough space for 2 large tents and parking for 2 cars. Very quiet at night even though there were many families around. The campground is below the road so the road noise was greatly reduced. Great spot for last minute campers- many open spots on the weekend. There are cows which equals lots of crap everywhere. Lots of bugs as well but few mosquitos- no bites in my group.
Spots on Loop B and C are more exposed to the sun. There is a river running through so at night you hear it along with so many birds.
Red Ledges Picnic area is down the road and GREAT for rock scrambling. Watch for rattlers even at night. Don't miss the Fifth Water Hot Springs hike also near by.

We stayed on site 008 for 2 nights on Father's Day '15. The campground is beautiful. The drive up the canyon is fantastic.
There are a LOT of problems with this campground. In July there is a large amount of pollen in the air as well as flies- many of which bite. The campground is next to the road so there is a lot of traffic noise at night. It's also easy to access so expect plenty of drunken adult partying on the weekends. Someone even tried to bogart our reserved spot. The camp host is not a big help in any of these cases. Shooting up tree trunks in a problem in this area.
All that aside, there is plenty to do here, bike and hiking trails, a river you can tube on, a waterfall. Timpanogos Cave and Sundance are right down the road.

We stayed here last July, and at the height of camping season, the campground was 1/2 full. Campsites are relatively private and there is a beautiful trail out of the campground that we took for just 2 miles before we had to turn back due to lack of time. I was amazed-- in California you could never find a campsite this beautiful & this empty in the middle of summer season. Also, we saw a roadrunner when driving out. Beautiful campground.
