Meh
Sadly the scenic drive was closed because of the government shutdown when we visited, and there is nothing worth visiting that isn't accessed via that scenic drive. I don't think it's compelling enough that we'd make that long drive to the middle of nowhere to try again in the future.

Very disappointed that the caves were closed! Also, the scenic road was closed half up!

Although we were there during the Government shut-down, the park road to Wheeler Peak and hiking trails were open. I was impressed and grateful that Park staff were still tending the restrooms. Our tour of Lehmann Caves was canceled, but if we don't get a refund for the tickets, I won't begrudge the Park Service the money.

Great Basin shut down..
Wonderful park - when it is open! Unfortunately, due to the Shut down, Visitor’s Center, Astronomy Program and road up to Wheeler Peak were all closed. As was the Lower Lehman Campground, which will be lovely when it finally reopens.

Shutdown limited us
Sadly we were there during the stupid government shutdown so our caves tour didn't happen. But it's a nice park. I would have liked to see the info on the visitor's centers. The drive up to the Summit Trailhead was great. Threatening weather kept us from long hikes.

Great to rest and or explore
We only had half a day, but there’s definitely enough to explore. Lovely scenic road and hike at the top of the mountain. The visitor’s centre can tell you more!

Amazing park!
Amazing park! Did not expect to see fall.fiahe colors in Nevada but it was beautiful here! Free to enter and the drive to the top and back was about 1hr round trip. Great drive, even if not hiking! I decided to do this drive because I don't know when I'll be in the middle of nowhere again!

Absolutely stunning campground. Pretty far from other campers secluded and quiet. Right by a creek and beautiful surroundings. No water available but visitor center close by
