Hi! We are a bright, young family, & small community, developing our 42 acres in Crestone, Colorado. Our property features a host of cottonwood trees, a creek, two outdoor bath houses, a fire pit, a 1.5 acre mini farm in progress. There are two new bell tents, available with up to 3 single beds, or one king. There are ample tent camping locations, and shore power for vans/rvs. The property is also home to abundant wildlife including a Great Horned Owl, Coyote packs, Elk, Deer, Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, Bobcats, Bats and Frogs.
Crestone is a beautiful, remote, high desert wilderness surrounded by classic Colorado (almost) 14-ners with high alpine lakes, rivers, hot springs, rock climbing, mountain biking, and our property borders on the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Crestone is also known for its 30 diverse spiritual centers, incredible star gazing as a official dark sky community, alien sightings, and it's beautiful and unique housing community that focuses on building with reclaimed and natural building methods. Our home, like many of the homes here, is creatively made from recycled materials, using two train cars for the body of the house. The property also hosts a 1200 square foot Dojo, built by the previous owner, a Qi Gong master lineage carrier. We continue use the space for yoga, capoiera, dance and other events. We are completely off grid, using solar power, wood heat and some propane when needed. We aren't on sewer or septic, so this is an opportunity for the understanding of composting toilet and humanure systems. That may seem low-tech overall but, we are blessed with the infinite power of Starlink internet! Great opportunity for part time mobile office types.
Our goals on the property are to enhance our lives, and those in our community, with everything we do here. Located on a homestead of 9 acres within the foothills of the Sangre de Cristos Mountain Range, part of the Carson National Forest within hiking distance.
This is a special remote neighborhood that sprang from a '70's compound, which was centered around the Tibetan Buddhist stupa, south from where this camp is located. The skies are some of the darkest in the United States. The milky way is visible from the parking lot of this camp, at 8000 feet elevation, northern high alpine desert transitional zone.

This is is a campsite, please come prepared to camp, and you will enjoy this experience. The sites have been made flat, there is river water available for washing, but must be boiled before drinking to prevent giardia. Firewood available, Please always ask before starting a campfire, in case of fire bans or other factors.
Quiet, amazing view of the Sangres, hiking and national monuments nearby, ski valleys, grocery store, Village of Questa is 8 miles, Village of Red River is about 20 miles. Great Sand Dunes is about 2 hours north in Colorado.
Wild and Scenic Rivers Park, Rio Grande del Norte river about 10 miles. We ask that you arrive before dark for ease of setting up your tent and finding the outhouse and outdoor shower area. Hosts are on or near the property (or within a mile). It is easy to get lost: DO NOT rely on GPS. Use the written directions in the listing to save you from getting lost.
It is a goal to produce as little waste as possible on this property. Please avoid excessive plastic bottles. Pack in, pack out your trash and recycling. We will provide drinking water, and all other water is available at the campground. Please put up all food since we are in guests up here in bear, mountain lion and coyote country. No poisonous snakes or mosquitos (usually) up here at 8100 feet. There is all kinds of wildlife can be seen up here from time to time, and many varieties of birds, and also bats.
If you're into camping by car, tent or tipi, this camp is for you. We offer two 30 amp sites for small travel trailers.
Our position on a mountain slope at 8100 elevation means this camp is very dry, and cold at night.

Hi! We are a bright, young family, & small community, developing our 42 acres in Crestone, Colorado. Our property features a host of cottonwood trees, a creek, two outdoor bath houses, a fire pit, a 1.5 acre mini farm in progress. There are two new bell tents, available with up to 3 single beds, or one king. There are ample tent camping locations, and shore power for vans/rvs. The property is also home to abundant wildlife including a Great Horned Owl, Coyote packs, Elk, Deer, Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, Bobcats, Bats and Frogs.
Crestone is a beautiful, remote, high desert wilderness surrounded by classic Colorado (almost) 14-ners with high alpine lakes, rivers, hot springs, rock climbing, mountain biking, and our property borders on the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Crestone is also known for its 30 diverse spiritual centers, incredible star gazing as a official dark sky community, alien sightings, and it's beautiful and unique housing community that focuses on building with reclaimed and natural building methods. Our home, like many of the homes here, is creatively made from recycled materials, using two train cars for the body of the house. The property also hosts a 1200 square foot Dojo, built by the previous owner, a Qi Gong master lineage carrier. We continue use the space for yoga, capoiera, dance and other events. We are completely off grid, using solar power, wood heat and some propane when needed. We aren't on sewer or septic, so this is an opportunity for the understanding of composting toilet and humanure systems. That may seem low-tech overall but, we are blessed with the infinite power of Starlink internet! Great opportunity for part time mobile office types.
Our goals on the property are to enhance our lives, and those in our community, with everything we do here. Our home and community provides an opportunity to learn about natural living and building methods, composting, the beauty and challenge of living off grid, and ample opportunities to be in nature. Located on a homestead of 9 acres within the foothills of the Sangre de Cristos Mountain Range, part of the Carson National Forest within hiking distance.
This is a special remote neighborhood that sprang from a '70's compound, which was centered around the Tibetan Buddhist stupa, south from where this camp is located. The skies are some of the darkest in the United States. The milky way is visible from the parking lot of this camp, at 8000 feet elevation, northern high alpine desert transitional zone.

This is is a campsite, please come prepared to camp, and you will enjoy this experience. The sites have been made flat, there is river water available for washing, but must be boiled before drinking to prevent giardia. Firewood available, Please always ask before starting a campfire, in case of fire bans or other factors.
Quiet, amazing view of the Sangres, hiking and national monuments nearby, ski valleys, grocery store, Village of Questa is 8 miles, Village of Red River is about 20 miles. Great Sand Dunes is about 2 hours north in Colorado.
Wild and Scenic Rivers Park, Rio Grande del Norte river about 10 miles. We ask that you arrive before dark for ease of setting up your tent and finding the outhouse and outdoor shower area. Hosts are on or near the property (or within a mile). It is easy to get lost: DO NOT rely on GPS. Use the written directions in the listing to save you from getting lost.
It is a goal to produce as little waste as possible on this property. Please avoid excessive plastic bottles. Pack in, pack out your trash and recycling. We will provide drinking water, and all other water is available at the campground. Please put up all food since we are in guests up here in bear, mountain lion and coyote country. No poisonous snakes or mosquitos (usually) up here at 8100 feet. There is all kinds of wildlife can be seen up here from time to time, and many varieties of birds, and also bats.
If you're into camping by car, tent or tipi, this camp is for you. We offer two 30 amp sites for small travel trailers.
Our position on a mountain slope at 8100 elevation means this camp is very dry, and cold at night.

It was very peaceful. Great views of the Rockies and surrounding area. Owners are helpful, pleasant & have great suggestions. Tent is roomy, king bed was comfortable, temperatures in the 20s but we kept warm with the wonderful bedding. Table available and cushy chair inside the tent. Two outdoor chairs available if needed. The shower was super hot which I LOVE!!! Clean restroom. Very earth friendly. Soap, TP and bath towels were provided. Easy access to activities around the area. We visited Great Sand Dunes National Park and the quirky Alien Watchtower. There is a community park in Crestone, a small natural foods grocery store and a couple of restaurants to try out. We tried the pizza place that serves alcohol and the food was great! Highly recommend this place to stay. We are relaxed and regenerated after our visit! The resident dog was an added bonus!! She greeted us when we came home and in morning and evenings!!

I had such a wonderful time on Lydia’s land. The views are incredibly beautiful and serene. Although it rained most of the time I was there, I stayed warm and dry in the tent. The bed was super comfy, and the shower was HOT. The host family is lovely. I definitely recommend!

One of my favorite stays I’ve done! Instructions on how to get there/park were very clear. Property was beautiful with the sounds of nature and wildlife near by. Having the tent that faced the mountain made waking up and watching the sunrise was breathtaking! Chairs were out side the teepee so we got to enjoy all the star gazing and shooting stars. Can’t wait to stay again for another get away.

We had a great time staying on Meghan’s land. We rolled in late for our stay, but had no trouble with the clear instructions she provided.
The yurt is truly a treat, coming stocked with camping stove supplies so we were able to cook some light meals. I also really enjoyed the wood-burning stove to keep warm.
We also treated ourselves to some camel milk fudge and camel yarn.
We stopped here for our trip to Great Sand Dunes, and Meghan recommended we stopped at Sand Dunes Recreation hot springs in Hooper nearby. It was just what we needed! Incredible place for a desert getaway.

We had a great time on Lenna’s land. The tent is awesome and the cots are comfortable. The outhouse was literally the cleanest I’ve ever been in 😂 They provided plenty of wood, which was a fantastic treat. We were appreciative that the cooler was full of water and there was bug spray and sunscreen on site. These were all nice amenities! There were tons of options for cooking including a gas grill and two burners, as well as pots/pans, silverware, plates and all the standards. There are solar lights all over the camp which provide the best ambiance and ease at night, as well as solar lanterns provided to easily wander around with. The creek was a huge highlight and we went for several soaks and getting our feet wet. Plus it just sounds amazing! And let me tell you about the stars out here!! If you like star gazing and want to teach the kids about constellations, this is the place. I was blown away by the night sky out here! When booking, I didn’t know that we’d be so close to Westcliffe- which is a dark sky area. On that note- this listing says it’s in Rye, but it’s actually Gardner, CO if you are mapping it out. Be prepared that there are 15 miles of gravel road to access this area and the closest place for supplies is 40min out- so come ready. I also wanted to mention that Lenna is communicative and was quick to answer questions. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and would return!

Awesome location with plenty of hiking trails and great views! It was very windy the weekend we stayed, but we set up camp in the creek and barely noticed. We would definitely like to come back.

1 night at Ascension Acres
Celebrated my 40th birthday with a night in this super glam and very unique stay. Austin was super communicative on directions and hosted us so generously upon arrival. I loved the mix of camp/wilderness/nature with the glam of the dome/lighting/art. Super fun one!

Nice spot, very quiet. Tent was spacious and the wood stove inside was great. Appreciated the gas stove and the cooking gear. Convenient to Mission Wolf, a sanctuary for wolves and wolf hybrids (40 minute drive).

What a special and unique experience this was! We arrived after dark, and the off GPS directions were excellent and easy to follow. My son and I kicked off a ten day road trip with our first stay here, and even though very cold outside, the yurt was cozy and warm. The bed is very comfy, and there are thoughtful touches throughout the yurt including a kettle for the wood stove, handmade soaps, games, and a French press just to name a few. Meghan and Liam gave us a great farm tour where we got to meet the donkeys and camels, and see the frozen creek. Would definitely book again.
