It was Then That "Corporations" began Buying Up Fertile FarmLand, Clear Cutting, Mono-Cropping. Creating Corporate "Grocery Store" Chains DESTROYING "The Family Farm." My Son's Father & I Rescued This Land in 1998. It was Derelict. We were Handed A 1' HIGH FILE FULL OF Building Department "Violations" The Oaks were ALL Dying from Lack Of Fresh Air/Oxygen & Sunshine. We Removed (8) 5 TON DUMPSTERS/40 TONS OF GARBAGE INCLUDING: Cars, Car Parts/Tires, Toilets, Jacuzzi Tubs, Dishware, Newspapers, Utensils++. DISCLAIMER: This is quite different from staying in an ordinary hotel. We are really in NATURE here - these are older cottages hand-built by artists in the forest. They are very rustic! It's like living in a mountain village, with other cottages nearby. While we work very hard to keep our places pristine and spotless - if anyone in your group will faint if they see a bug or lizard or little frog inside - then this probably isn't the place for you. Please be very careful booking cottages for someone else - like your parents just arriving from another continent - they might prefer something more conventional.
Some folks describe our places as a luxurious form of camping. We make our cottages very comfortable - they have all the basics - electricity - wifi - most have kitchens, bath or shower and comfy clean beds. But they are not like a hotel with perfect walls and a sterile atmosphere. Please look at all the pictures and read all the reviews. We can't offer refunds just because we don't meet the standards of a normal hotel. Most people are charmed by this idyllic and bohemian lifestyle - but it's not for everyone.

Prospector Ranch is an 1800s style ranch located right next door to the acre used for Hipcamping.
The ranch is made up of their home and is also a venue for filming, photo shoots and small events. When not being used, camping guest are welcome to enjoy the area down around the authentic saloon, use the picnic area under large Oak trees and hike the property. We purchased the ranch 8 years ago and love being outside of the city in the mountains. Stargazing is a must when staying there!
The campsite is NEXT DOOR to Prospector Ranch, which is our 1800s-style ranch tucked away in the Santa Monica mountains, close to beaches, vineyards, amazing hiking, biking to the beach and the city! The wide open empty lot looks out at the beautiful mountains. Enjoy stunning sun sets and Picnic under the grand Oak Trees at the ranch or maybe come by the saloon next door for a cold beverage if we are around. :-). We are happy to point you in the direction for what ever you want to do.

This mountain property is surrounded by massive pine trees and within a 15 minute walk to Lake Gregory - a gorgeous mountain lake with a well maintained trail running the entire perimeter and several areas to park if you are transporting gear.
This is a perfect base for Lake and Mountain adventures with numerous trail systems nearby, including the famed PCT as it meanders through sections of the San Bernardino National Forest.
The parking access is off the street if you choose to leave bicycles, snowboards, kayaks etc attached to your car. There is also room to leave large outdoor equipment on property for easier driving around without your outdoor gear.
There is only one Hip-Camp Site on the property - the private pine cottage with a 1/2 bath and off-street parking. Access to the patio with the gas fire-pit, grill and seating area will be yours to enjoy alone.

This place is such a gem! It's so peaceful and welcoming. The place is so cute, and has everything you need to glamp. The bed is so comfy and the heater had me cozy, and bathtub is stellar! Also the rains had the creek running, and the grass was so green on the hillsides along the trails. A little slice of heaven. Thank you!

I had the absolutely best time! It was so peaceful, at night all you could hear was crickets and frogs. Waking up in the trees was just beautiful. This place had everything you need! The bed was comfy and the place was cozy, true Topanga charm. The hiking trail was so lovely also. We had a sunset and morning hike. My dog enjoyed it too! Pup approved! I will most definitely be back, and recommending it to friends!

I had a wonderful retreat at the Japanese teahouse and plan to return. Everything was perfect, and I could sense the care that has gone into this amazing property, from the unique art to the decor and special items to the comfy bedding and linens. The outdoor kitchen is so relaxing. I saw a red tailed hawk, hummingbirds, butterflies, and an assortment of little creatures as I made my meals and spent quiet time on the deck with my dog. If you are chill and appreciate unique settings and nature, this is paradise.

When I tell you hands down this was THE trip of the summer, I mean it! Lisa is incredibly kind, and her campsite gave everything it was supposed too! She is such a PHENOMENAL person, with a beautiful heart and spirit! My son and I had a blast, and her recommendation for the Sunday Brunch spot exceeded expectations! It was something out of a story book! Thank you for such a rich experience and memories that will last a lifetime! We will definitely return! I really enjoyed my stay at this quaint little Hipcamp spot, Japanese Teahouse. The setting had a lot of charm and made for a peaceful, low-key escape. I was a bit concerned at first when I realized there was no hot plate as spaghetti night was on the menu, but we made it work just fine with the toaster oven, making foil trays for our grub.
One of the highlights was the bathroom, it was excellent. Clean, well-maintained, and the hot water in the shower was a real treat after a long day. Overall, a lovely experience with just the right mix of rustic and comfortable. Would definitely recommend and would happily return! Thank you David

A hidden-away gem. What a fun campsite! The vintage Airstresm trailer is in amazing shape. Decorated and arranged beautifully. Fabian put everything together so nicely. A bowl of fresh rosemary and lemons from their orchard on the table when we arrived. Coffee and cream packs in the fridge. Firewood and kindling and cooking utensils for the BBQ. Lovely little touches everywhere.
Thr amenities are amazing. Full power in the trailer and a bathroom with instant hot water. A smart space heater for the chilly evenings and Alexa to play music and turn on the outside string and accent lights made for a really great nighttime camp experience.
There is a hiking loop that is private to the site and takes you up into the hills with a bench at the top to watch the sunset it was gorgeous!
Overall we can't wait to go back. There is a cabin you can also rent for larger groups they are renovating currently, when they is done, a larger group of friends would make this an incredible site for a getaway weekend. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Topanga Oasis
I arrived near dusk because of traffic and knew exactly where to find the Teahouse due to the glowing sign. The space is cosy and comfortable. I could hear the chorus of frogs in the creek loudly singing at night. My dog Shadow and I enjoyed hanging out on the kitchen porch - there's a kettle, a Keurig, a pizza oven and a microwave. I wanted to wander the property more in the morning, but the weather turned a bit. So I listened to the sounds of the rain on the porch cover and read in the comfortable bed instead.

Weekend Trip to Topanga Oasis
This was a really lovely Hipcamp experience! I was traveling solo and wanted a cozy and comfortable place with creature comforts that also gave me the peaceful sense of being in nature, and this hit the nail on the head! The bed was really comfortable, and the vibe of the place was really nice, with the Japanese decorations and theme. I loved the outdoor kitchen. It had everything I needed, and it was so peaceful to sit on the porch, sip coffee and look out at the stream in front of the property. The oak trees around the property are beautiful and when the sun streams in in the morning through the branches, it is a really peaceful site with lots of natural sounds of birds. Even though the bathroom was outside of the house,, it felt very comfortable and I appreciated the hot water in the shower! I will definitely go back and I highly recommend this to others!

1 night at Topanga Oasis
To other Hipcampers, if you want to experience an entirely different feel of a cabin in the woods, (which to us from the outside looked like a 'Harry Potter' style magical place) then this one is for you.
It has all the necessary amenities to make a couple comfortable, ( including maybe if you have a child below 12 years.)
The inside of the cabin is a mix of weathered, rustic artistry in every nook and corner, that has been woven carefully into nature. We found it intriguingly perfect! We loved the bedroom with its many tiny windows through which warm sunlight streamed through the patterened chiffon curtains, and how we heard the sound of the rainfall outside early next morning.
Just a note to anyone who is unable to climb, or unsteady on their feet for whatever reason...be mindful that the floor in the tiny living room area and a little way into the bathroom, is kinda 'cobble stone' uneven and you need to be careful while you walk on the areas that are exposed outside the carpet.
Also, you need to climb up the ladder to your bedroom which is up in the loft. The bathroom with attached toilet is below the bedroom and so for those needing to use the restroom during the night, you will have to climb down the ladder to get to it.
We were looking for a different experience and Wonderland Cabin at Topanga Oasis was it.
I would say that having access to Wifi at the cabin, which doesn't need a password was a great thing. We were happy that there was no TV in the cabin.

One of the coolest places I have stayed, hands down! I reserved this as a getaway for a couple mom friends and I. The Teahouse is very easy to find when you follow the host's directions! The property is very quiet and peaceful. There are a TON of oak trees around, with lots of shade, but plenty of sun peeking through! I absolutely loved sitting in the kitchen/ back porch area, drinking tea and listening to the wind and birds. It was very cozy in the morning, the host provided 2 radiator heaters, which worked very well! The beds were extremely comfortable and warm! I didn't get a chance to venture out onto the trails this trip, I got an unexpected call from work and had to remain close to my laptop, but what I did get to experience was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful! There are other small houses scattered on the property, relatively close together, but the layout is so nice, each structure has their own privacy. The only thing I would warn is how cold the bathroom can be when the shower isn't running! I planned to take a bath in the evening, but it was WAY too cold for me to even consider it! Perhaps a braver soul would try it out, but I wasn't feeling it.
Overall, extremely comfortable, private, and convenient. The property owner did a fantastic job allowing nature to really be felt while glamping in this Teahouse. Absolutely will be booking again!

3 nights at Topanga Oasis
Love the funky southern California commune feel to the property. The canyon is really beautiful and the trails on the compound are nice casual hikes. There was a cold snap but the space heaters worked great and the outdoor kitchen area has everything you need.

The property was very clean and well maintained. The tree house was located separately from other cabins with detached bathroom. As a female solo traveler with 2 dogs, I felt very safe and enjoyed my own privacy. I just didn’t expect that there was no gas stove, it took much longer to cook something in the electric pizza oven. Doggos had so much fun hiking off leash and also met a playful furry friend! We will be back! Thank you again for having us.
