We do have a land line up at the house in case of an emergency. Also, if you really need it, WiFi is available at the house.

In the 1960’s, a mile of railroad tracks was laid and the whistle of a small, steam engine train could be heard throughout the community. Local residents and kids were treated to free train rides and special events for many years. There is a natural spring with a small creek that supplies the ponds with fresh water year around. There is also a small canyon on the property with a larger stream called Mud Creek. The land is rich in Indian history and there a artifacts and other signs on the Indians presence. The Cohasset area is relatively unknown. 15 miles from our property is Deer Creek and the Lasson National Forest is about a 2 hour drive north. While staying with us you can pitch your tent on our private 500 acres. We have 2 primitive camping spots on our property. Each spot has a picnic table and fire pit. There is a flush toilet shared for both camp sites. * During freezing weather the toilets may be closed so they don’t freeze! Please check before booking *The spots are spread out to ensure privacy. Our property is surrounded by the forest and is loaded with deer, squirrels, turkeys and other forest animals. We have numerous walking trails, a fresh water pond for fishing and swimming. Please notify us if you have an RV. Site 1 is best for RV's. Site 2 can accommodate smaller RV's.

You will be camping along Lake Almanor's East Shore on your own private campground instead of "combat camping" in the popular public campgrounds nearby. Additionally, the property can accommodate numerous smaller vans and tents. We have 2 mooring buoys and a large dock. (Dock may no longer be in the water after September) There is a sani-hut potty which is maintained/cleaned weekly. The property is located between the lake and the highway, so there will be road noise. Some guests have been bothered by the traffic and some have not. We have 2 SUP boards, 3 kayaks, and a canoe as well as a 5-person pedal boat that can be borrowed while renting our beach. Doing so will be at your own risk and you are required to wear personal floatation devices (lifejackets). Lifejackets are not provided, so you will need to bring your own. We ask that you please respect our toys and take care not to damage them or lose any parts/pieces. ALL RENTERS MUST TAKE THEIR OWN TRASH WITH THEM WHEN THEY DEPART No Fireworks, No firearms, No drugs allowed. Dogs are allowed and we do have a 10 x 10 x 6 kennel onsite. Campers are responsible for minding their pet's safety, politeness, and picking up their poo-poo's. Marshmallow roasting/cooking fires must be kept small and are only allowed in the provided fire ring. There is some small firewood onsite, and if you need more you can purchase nearby at Almanor Landscape Supply or bring your own. The early mornings are tranquil, and the sunsets are STUNNING! This is a 253 Acre property near the Sacramento River that flows through the area of Lakehead near Redding and Shasta lake. There are a couple of really good fishing spots along the river . On the property itself there is 3 year round flowing creeks. Lots of Deer on the property since we don’t hunt and so they come on our land as a little sanctuary. Beautiful view of the Shasta area mountains. Multiple places to hike and find water holes. There is Poison Oak on the property, please be mindful. There are bears, but will normally stay away from the campsite. Please put your food away to prevent wildlife from coming into your camp. There are fish in the Sacramento River that can be fished for. This is the wilderness, there are mosquitos, flys, and other bugs. Please bring bug spray.

The roads out to Kosk creek are remote and sometimes sketchy (the road to McCloud is dicey with tree fall, rockfall, landslides) but the camp felt safe and the caretakers were nice. Beautiful spot and great that they've made this sacred place accessible and well maintained.

What an incredible stay! We had no problem arriving late in the evening (about 1:30am we came from Washington) and were able to use the hot springs at any time. This is definitely a new staple campground just be wary of the insane potholes leading up! No issue finding the place and facilities were so nice and clean :-)

Long legs come in handy in a lot of situations, but this isn't one of them

Ron and Kristin’s ranch was beautiful. The campsite was great and very well set up. The pond was a really good addition with fun boats and kayaks next to it. Ron even suggested a hike down to another creek which was great.

Amazing place to visit!! It can look sketchy on the way down the 17 mile drive to the property but trust me it is worth it to push past the car junkyard 3 miles before your destination. Such a healing space. Already looking to visit again in May. Thank you Scott for the wonderful pre-Thanksgiving stay!!

We had a an amazing time camping here. It was myself, my husband, toddler and dog. We had a very spacious and private pull-through site for our pop up camper. Scott was very welcoming and helped us pick a spot and get settled. We had a really great time!

The camp host was really great about helping us find the camp and check us in despite a late arrival. Be warned - there's no cell service and it's a bit difficult to find in the dark. Check your email directions before you get too far out there! Creekside campsites were lovely and multiple hot spring pools gave a variety of soaking options. Very cool if you're willing to make the trek!

We’ve been to plenty of hot springs before and these are wayyy up there on our list! They weren’t crowded (it’s November), they were deep and hot with the option to cold plunge in the river, and simply magical. The property is beautiful and the host went way above and beyond to ensure we didn’t get lost getting there and that we (and our doggie) were happy with our nice, private campsite (included a picnic table and fire ring). Campsites are a short walk from the springs and we were able to easily find them even when we first arrived in the dark. The hosts are obviously passionate about the place and maintain it perfectly while still offering that natural, rustic outdoor experience we were searching for. It’s such a privilege that they share this paradise with the public, with the benefit of crowd control and keeping it wild. Logistically speaking we drive an extended body camper van that isn’t 4wd and had no issues getting there (the drive is stunningly pretty too). Overall it’s one of the coolest places we’ve ever camped and I couldn’t recommend it enough.

Beautiful campground! The host is super helpful, informative and friendly. The campsites are very clean. My partner and I bathed in the hot springs at night, then had a very pleasant campfire and bbq under the stars. They sell firewood at a good price, which they deliver to your campsite. Went during off season, so there was plenty of space on the rather large property. Would definitely come here again!

My family and I had a great time at this campsite. They were plenty of spaces, and they were all very clean and well managed. They are very dog friendly, and very welcoming upon arrival as well. The Hot Springs were definitely a highlight, and they were only a 5 to 10 minute walk away.

Weekend Trip to Maple Creek Ranch

My family and I had the best time camping at Maple Creek Ranch. We stayed at Site 2, which was privately nestled among the trees—clean, flat, and perfectly peaceful. The site included a deep firepit and a sturdy picnic table, making it easy to relax and cook meals together. The amenities were fantastic. There was a spotless outhouse just about a hundred feet away (with a flushing toilet!), and a hot shower next to the pond. The pond itself was stocked with bluegill and bass, and my family caught their first-ever fish there—an unforgettable memory! But the highlight of our stay was Ron, the host. He’s an absolute gem—so kind, genuine, and full of great stories. He brought us firewood and water and when my car battery died on our last day, he didn’t hesitate to drive over with his truck and give me a jump. His hospitality truly made our trip special. We’ll absolutely be coming back and can’t recommend Maple Creek Ranch enough to anyone visiting the Cohasset/Chico area!

I highly recommend Kosk Creek Campgrounds! It’s tucked away in a little haven with hot springs, and it feels really safe because it’s a gated campground with the host monitoring everything. I also love that at night they sell firewood, so you don’t have to leave the campground — super convenient and relaxing!

Scott and his team are wonderful hosts. We enjoyed everything. The porta potty was clean. He has and is continuing to make wonderful upgrades to the hot springs. The campsites are spread out. It's such a beautiful place. If you have never been here the only thing you need to be aware of is the road driving in once you pass the pit stop is very rough so drive about 5 mph to dodge the potholes in the road. Also be aware that there is wildlife.
