The actual sites are all Larger than Federal Park and Statepark guidelines, with averages of 20'x30' for campsites and 20'x40' for a long RVCampsite. We have planted many young trees and continue to plant trees and native shrubs around and near the sites. We have picnic tables, table coverings, fire pits, and camping rugs/footprints. There is also an outdoor shower, a shower tent with hot water, and an upgraded porta-potty with a sink. Note: During times when high heat is predicted, we strongly recommend that our Hipcampers bring pop-up shade tents or canopies for their sites. The Hipcamp is adjacent to our working ranch, and any photos of old sheds, trucks, a wood lot, or other equipment are NOT on the Hipcamp, but you will drive past that property to get to the separate Hipcamp area. Wineries, Farmer's Markets, Craft Breweries, dispensaries, and more are within 10 to 15 minutes of our site. Our location allows moments when you may see Hawks, Owls, Geese, Swallows, Robins, Bluebirds, and more. We offer both tent and RV camping. The title says it all this property is truly A Unique Mountain Retreat that will give you the peace, quiet and tranquility you are looking for. An energy efficient Uniquely designed home that is off the grid and has a very green footprint with solar and windmill to charge batteries. Oak and pine tree covered acres with fitness and nature trails around the property. Each level campsite with picnic table is designed for privacy with plenty of distance between sites and mountain views in every direction, along with an optional gas log fire pit and BBQ. My two boys and I stayed in the studio cabin. We had to rearrange our travel dates due to the weather. John couldn’t have been more flexible and accommodating in making sure our trip could still happen a few days later. The site had a beautiful view, a little kitchenette, shower and wood stove that kept us warm. We had great stargazing and the gas burning stove was perfect for chilly nights. John was the most welcoming host and made us feel very comfortable. We also enjoyed the nature trail on the site! Overall, a lovely place I would recommend if you want to slow down and enjoy some peace and quiet.

This was such a great setup! We do not go camping often, so I wanted to book a spot that was between camping and “glamping”. This was that perfect inbetween! It does get pretty cold at night during the fall/winter, so make sure to pack plenty of extra layers and blankets. The campsite was very well taken care of, and there weren’t even any bugs inside the A frames. He even included a propane tank, which was great since we forgot to bring one! We had a lovely stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for camping near LA

Had a great time staying here with my family! Everything was so clean , there was cell service so that was nice ! Also some things to note there is a cooking area just no fridge so bring ice and a cooler! No water heater so the shower was cold but felt nice!!! There is a working toilet on site so that was amazing! Two A frames one with a king size bed which was very comfortable it can get windy throughout the day and night but honestly wasn’t a big deal. There’s a port to charge things and some night lights We brought a portable dvd player so once it got dark we were inside the A frame

Weekend Trip to Arber-Moore's Ranch

Location is incredibly convenient to Lake Casitas, Ojai and Oak View, but still feels remote and secluded. Site was spacious, clean and beautiful, but could definitely use some improvements. More restrooms and showers, for one, and definitely a line of trees to block out the noise from the main road would be major upgrades. We were lucky to be the only group there that weekend, but I could imagine it being frustrating trying to schedule bathroom/shower time if the sites were full. From my brief conversations with the the owner, Vivian, however, it sounds like they're actively working towards those things already. Other than that, the toilet and shower were both very clean and functional. Shower was hot and pressure was good. Light pollution from Ojai is visible on the horizon, but the property itself is very dark and conducive to star gazing. Host was friendly, helpful, accommodating and communicative, but pretty hands-off otherwise.

This place was just what we were looking for. A quiet getaway in a beautiful setting. There is a farm and our toddler loved seeing the goats, chickens and donkey. We were shown great hospitality from the host and made us feel at home. Great hikes right outside the door! We were even able to purchase some meat and eggs from the farm! A unique experience all around, would highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Star Ranch

The site is so great to go camping with a group. Some of us actually used our own tents, some who couldn’t handle the cold used the a-frames that are available. It was a nice little getaway from the cities and all the noise. The stars are sooo pretty at night. I brought my dogs and it was great, I didn’t have to worry about them at all, granted they are trained. They were wandering around and the site is far away from at street, that I let them do their own thing. The girls liked it so much, one of them is coming back with her family to enjoy the sight again.
