We love sharing our property with friends, family, HipCampers and dogs. Our property consists of: 43 rugged/hilly/mountainous acres with numerous flat plateaus and fantastic views. Each plateau has several great spots to car/van/truck camp, pitch a tent or park small trailers and small RVs. Larger RVs/Trailers fit on the front side of our property. SUMMER/FALL: Expect the landscape and views to be golden brown (not green and lush like in a lot of the photos posted which were taken this past winter/spring.) Plan on being fully self-sufficient at your private camp area. Otherwise, feel free to use the common area at the barn until 10 pm. COMMON USE AREA: Inside and near the barn include tables, chairs, hammocks, wood fire pit, outdoor propane BBQ and stove, small indoor kitchen available by reservation/pre-approval, outdoor mineral shower, and mineral cold plunge tubs. OUR RECOMMENDATIONS for THINGS TO DO WHILE YOU VISIT THE AREA: WINE TASTING: We are in the heart of the wine country with a tasting room less than one mile away and/or a few short miles into Buellton, Solvang, Santa Ynez, and/or Los Olivos. BEACHES and HIKING: We are 5 minutes from the beach. You can hike all over our property, see below for a list of all our recommendations. (NOTE: the HipCamp site does not support weblinks so you may want to look up our recommendations on yelp for more info and directions.) RESTAURANTS/DINING: 1. Industrial Eats, Buellton 2. Ramen Kotori, Solvang 3. La Tequila Mexican Restaurant, Buellton (NOTE: They don’t actually serve tequila but the food is GREAT!) 4. Ginos Pizza, Buellton (they will deliver to our gate) 5. Antonio's Pizza (Great Pizza but they don't deliver) 6. Hitching Post, Buellton 7. Trattoria Grappolo, 2 locations: Santa Ynez and Solvang 8. HOOK’d Bar and Grill at Lake Cachuma (20 minutes to the lake) FARM STANDS: 1. Folded Hills Winery and Farm Stand (farm animals to visit as well) (1 mile south of our ranch) 2. The Blueberry Farm (Seasonal Pick your own blueberries stand closes end of September-ish) (1 mile south of our ranch) HIKES: 1. Nojoqui Falls (1.5 miles south of our ranch) 2. Gaviota Wind Caves (6 miles south of our ranch) BEACHES: 1. Gaviota State Beach (6 miles south of our ranch) 2.Tajiguas Beach (15 miles south of our ranch) 3. Jalama Beach County Park (30-minute beautiful windy drive, but well worth it especially if you want to get one of the worlds best burgers at the campground store) FUN for KIDS and ADULTS: 1. Ostrich Land USA, Buellton (Feed the Ostriches and Emus) 2. Mendenhall's Museum of Gasoline Pumps & Petroliana, Buelton We look forward to hosting you. Sincerely, Sierra and Darin

I see why they are voted the best on hicamp now. They have everything you can think of from a community bar and lounge area to cowboy tubs and time capsule walls. Their land is well taken care of as well. They do so many things to give you a great experience, they upgraded our reservation to a camper from a tent to accommodate because the rain and it was great ! Highly recommend Sierra and Darin’s as your host they are very kind hearted and welcoming as well as their assistant!

Stop what you are doing and book
I have been using Hipcamp since 2019. (Don’t mind the blank account I didn’t realize I logged in and created a new one. #nerdfail) Sierra and Darin (and co.) are next level. The attention to detail, to guests, the attention to the property, their combined creativity and kindness was felt in full force. I don’t want to spoil any surprises but you are in for QUITE the treat. Truly the best Hipcamp we have ever been to. Will ABSOLUTELY be returning. Much love to Sierra and Darin and thanks again!!! See you soon!!! Love Jeff, Jen, and Tedi

Camp Out @ Freedog Farms
By now, Sierra and Darin probably think we weren’t sincere about wanting to write a glowing review about our stay with them in early October 2022, but nothing could be further from the truth! We haven’t stopped talking about, and sharing with friends, our first experience with Hipcamp and with Freedog Farms. From the complementary mug of beer upon arrival (Darin has 12 micro-brewery selections on tap in the barn) and an introductory tour of the farm to select a campsite, to a gathering of campers from all walks of life at Sierra’s community campfire every evening, the trip was a magical experience. Although most campers seemed to stay a short time on their way to somewhere else, we stayed four nights while exploring the nearby hiking trails and local wineries. The Farm itself offers much to explore, plenty of quiet places to relax, and fantastic views. The heated mineral water showers were luxurious and sure beat our typical sponge baths! Described online as dog-friendly, that is an understatement; our fur baby Nala was quickly befriended by the canine residents on the Farm and loved the opportunity to free-roam. Sierra and Darin are very friendly and welcoming. We can’t wait to stay again at Freedog Farms!

Such a great property, the views from each site are amazing and the overall vision for the property will want to make you return year after year. Hosts are super friendly, great common area, but private and quite so you can tuck away and enjoy the outdoors. Definitely recommend you check it out!

Camping and relaxing
Beautiful views. Campsites we’re spread apart which was so lovely. We stayed in the site with the vintage camper. It was completely redone on the inside and so usable and inviting. Cushions on beds were comfortable. The hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating. The have amazing visions to make this place even more incredible than it already is. We will definitely return!!! We also loved the freedom to allow our dog to be off leash. Wonderful experience!

Sierra, Darin and their pack of dogs welcomed myself and my daughter when we arrived. It’s always a great start when you can choose a welcome beer from one the 12 taps in the barn. After a short tour, we picked a spot to camp and there are A LOT of amazing spots. The property is quite, clean and a lot of fun to explore . We painted bird houses in the barn and got to feed the animals. We had an amazing experience and will definitely be returning .

Campsites and property were stellar and Sierra and Darren, the hosts, were wonderful and very accommodating. That said, was a bit pricey even with the upgrade they gave us. With the $36 Hipcamp service fee, it turned out to be $284 for 2 nights, not exactly a bargain for 2 people camping for 2 nights.

Magical property
Sierra and Darin are awesome hosts and their property is magical! We brought our 30'RV on this trip and found a perfect place to set up camp under some shady pepper trees. Our girls loved playing with the goats, gathering eggs, and splashing around in the plunge tubs and our dog loved hanging out with all the other dogs. We loved walking around the property and meeting other guests at the communal campfire. We will definitely be back, hopefully for a longer stay this time. 5/5 stars!

Fun at FreeDog
We loved our stay at FreeDog! We were only there for one night but wish we could have stayed longer. Hosts were really welcoming and friendly. Awesome communal social areas that are creative, fun and well designed. And goats to visit too! Site was spacious with great views. Cleanest portapotty we’ve ever seen! Thank you for accepting our kooky hound into the pack ;)

Great choice for camping
Awesome property and everything you need for a great camp. Hosts were very responsive and even got the bbq ready for us to cook. Definitely would recommend for solo or group camping here, as there are several choices of camp sites and the location is central a lot of nearby activities.

Found your perfect camping spot
Loved this spot. Cold plunge is a must-do! Titan is the goodest boi. You’ve gotta try their sour on tap too. Ideal location; we enjoyed the seclusion but still close enough to civilization to have spent the day hiking in SLO and stop at Pismo beach on the way back. Porta potties stocked with soap and regularly serviced. Propane fire pits are super easy and convenient. Sierra and Darin are amazing, it is evident how much work and love they put into this place. The cactus flower “beach” and crafty deer watering stations are the perfect finishing touches.

Freedog farms is such a gem! So easy to get to and yet you still feel tucked far away in the rolling hills. Exceptional sunset views from most of the camp spots, that dot the hillsides. They went above and beyond in showing me around and welcoming me to their cute farm. I can’t wait to go back and share this special place with all my friends! 🤗

Top of the mountain
This place is a gem! The owners are such great hosts. I was welcomed with a beer and a tour of the property. Bravo!! There are several great spots to camp and I ended up choosing a site at the top of the mountain. It felt very private and I enjoyed laying in the hammock and watching the sunset. I’ll definitely be back!

One of the best
We’ve stayed at about five other Hipcamps and this is by far the best. The hosts are great and very hospitable. Some notes: The main entrance is directly on 101. I was worried about noise, but many of the sites are behind a ridge and the traffic sound was barely perceptible. The weekend we were there only about a quarter of the sites were occupied. We had extreme privacy, but the experience would have been different if the sites that could been seen from ours were occupied. Our kid loved the ATV tour of the property and getting the opportunity to gather eggs from the chickens. The beer selection was amazing.

# 1 in California
I was fortunate to stay with sierra and Darin over the last weekend and from the minute I got there till I left I felt like family. I wish I could remember names better but that’s another story . I was met at the gate and welcomed to there home was given a short orientation and immediately offered the complimentary welcome beer . And after a day of driving w , I was really thankful for that . We waited another minute or 2 and was given the $ 5 dollar tour . Lots of choices as to where to camp and you will not be disappointed with any . I picked a site closer to the fire pit and the beer ….I mean shower …. I took a hot shower and proceeded down to the fire pit to swap lies with a few other campers and sierra and Darin . I not sure it was my timing but they treated me to a wonderful home cooked meal and lots of entertaining stories . I did a road trip the next day and had a refreshing swim at El Capitan state beach . I know that there is lots of food options close by if you don’t want to cook , but I brought enough to not have to leave for meals . There is eggs , meats , ice cream etc to buy right there all made easy with Venmo . So did I have a good experience. Two thumbs up !! I will be back .
