(no tents) This site is near the top of our grassy meadow, with glorious forest views, on dry gravel, and features a picnic table & outhouse. It does not have a campfire facility, nor water. You're welcome to bring your own propane fire & cooking source, but NO open wood fires due to grassy fire hazards. Property is situated at 800' above sea level (usually above the fog) across the road from the Stump Beach trailhead in Salt Point State Park - which, from our driveway, is a 2 mile hike or bike ride down to the beach. Enjoy quiet solitude of one of the most private and quiet places on the Sonoma Coast. Avoid the crowds of Salt Point, with all the basic amenities you expect. Birdwatch, play frisbee golf, hunt for mushrooms, basecamp your hikes, runs or mountain bike rides in Salt Point, or use Huckleberry Haven as the central spot to innumerable road bike rides on empty roads. The choice is yours! Special note: Huckleberry Haven is on the edge of some great wilderness! We have all sorts of wildlife sauntering by, and certainly have for decades. We recommend taking precautions to avoid interacting with curious/hungry wildlife - Don't sleep with your food in the tent, and keep camp tidy! We know there to be black bears, mountain lions, bobcats, foxes, racoons, skunks and so forth. Mountain Lions tend to avoid us, but you'll want to check on best practices to avoid bear interactions. The Skunk Train in town can take you on a trip through through the Redwood Forest and Noyo River Canyon towards Fort Bragg. It stops along its route to see the Wolf Tree Redwood. The oldest along its tracks. You also have the option of booking an excursion on the Railbikes which leave from both Willits or Fort Bragg and use the same train tracks. If your driving to Fort Bragg you will want to go to Glass Beach on the coast and check out the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens or do a Scavenger Hunt. There is also the Coast Redwood growing in Montgomery Woods State Park to our south having what was thought for a long time to be the tallest known tree in the world at close to 365 feet tall. It stands 5 stories higher than the Statue of Liberty. In the town of Willits there a myriad of options. Eclectic shopping at Mazahan or Earths Treasures or classics at The GOOD Shoppe or Art in the Plaza. Gateway games offers weekly card and board game competitions or go visit Ridgewood Ranch, the final home of the legendary Racehorse Seabiscuit. If camping , hiking and relaxing just isn't enough to fill your day there is golf available in Brooktrails and Mendocino County is home to ten different appellations of wine with over 25% dedicated to organic and sustainable farming. The Aloha Cabin is a beautiful one room timber frame cabin located on a ridge top in the Redwood forest. Upon entering the gate at Old Mill Farm the Aloha Cabin is the first building you see as you come out of the thick forest and into the mixed meadow/forest ridge top of the property. Old Mill Farm is a 320 ranch in the middle of Mendocino county's 50,000 acre JDSF (Jackson State Demonstration Forest.) The Aloha sits by itself about a 1/2 mile from the rest of the ranch buildings and like the entire ranch is completely off-grid. Electricity is provided by a solar photovoltaic system and battery back up. All water is pumped with solar power and gravity fed throughout the property. You will be imbedded in the outdoors with ample opportunity to commune with the forest and the wildlife that live there. The Aloha has a kitchen equipped for cooking with refrigerator, range and oven. There is a bathroom with a flush toilet and a private outdoor shower. We provide linens and bedding for the full size bed and towels for 4 guests. There is also a sleeping loft (with no bedding included but can be added as an extra.) Please bring your own pads and sleeping bags to use the loft or pitch a tent in the front yard. The front yard is fenced and has a fire pit. We had a wonderful stay at Aloha Cabin! The property is secluded, peaceful, and perfect for unplugging. We loved exploring the abundant land, and the night sky was incredible—we could even see the Milky Way. The yard and fire pit made evenings extra cozy, and our pets enjoyed it just as much as we did. Inside, the wood stove kept us warm and comfortable, and everything worked perfectly. The cabin has a charming, eco-friendly feel with cool history and plenty of books to browse. It was exactly the cozy getaway we were hoping for. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Peaceful spot, easy driving instructions and responsive host. Well groomed campsite areas (creekside 1/2) felt safe and comfortable. My cell service was spotty and needed to travel about 5-10min out to get all services available but that’s ok, it’s camping. The view of the stars and moon were clear, the fire pit and toilet were very nice to have. The care taker was pleasant and accommodating

Booked the RV site at the last minute. Jake was accommodating and provided all pertinent info prior to arriving to the site. It was really easy to get to the property in our campervan. Instructions were easy to follow to the site. Beautiful view of the forest surrounding you. There is a picnic table and benches in a huge open space but we had everything we needed from our van. Outhouse was as clean as it gets and not a far walk from our site. There were so many stars at night!

The golden bowl was perfect for my partner and I. Due to daylight savings time, we never met the host, but they were super accommodating and lovely to message with. Kind size bed was comfy. Blankets were super warm, so no heater was needed (there is not electricity). This spot is closer to camping with luxuring than glamping with all the extras. We didn't use the outdoor kitchen area but imagine it is super useful. My rav4 had no problem getting down the hill to our tent. This tent seems much more secluded than the other two on this property, so that's good to know for other potential people staying! We so sorry appreciate an affordable place to sleep, as everyone does not have $$$ that is trying to travel. Location was great to get to willits, the coast, and we stopped at orr hot springs on our way there - all within a reasonable distance for folks like us who are used to driving to get anywhere! I didn't bring my dog but always appreciate pet friendly spots :) I would come back!

We had the most magical weekend here. The listing was accurate, Jake had clear signage for everything, and the deck made for the most cozy glamping situation. Would come back here in a heartbeat! The drive up from the Bay Area was gorgeous, and we stopped at Salt Point SP on the way back. The site felt private, and was nestled in a circular clearing of trees, so at night you could look up a direct pathway to the starry heavens :) Definitely recommend harvesting huckleberries for pancakes. Thanks for everything Jake!

Elderberry Camp was a nice and secluded stay. We essentially had the entire place to ourselves. Elderberry camp is the furthest away from the other 2 sites on that side of the property, but also note that it is the closest to the road. There isn’t enough traffic for it to be a problem in my opinion but if you are a light sleeper, it may affect you. Unfortunately, the creek was also dry during our stay. However, the foggy nights brought in nice moisture/frost that burned off by 11am. Another plus was the clean outhouse. Thanks, Stephen!

Staying at Golden Bowl is a lovely way to get out of the city and disconnecting from electricity for a weekend. You can see the stars without all the light pollution it was beautiful. Had a lovely romantic night by the campfire. And our favorite part is spending time in the kitchen area making meals and enjoying the fire! Kristina was great being there when we arrived to show us around. She even helped getting wood for the fireplace. The tent was decorated lovely and really felt outdoorsy.
