Slide Ranch is a nonprofit organization established in 1970, becoming one of the first Park Partners in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Slide Ranch is located on the Marin coast, on land that has a rich history in connecting people to food. The Coast Miwok once fished and foraged for food at this site, and in the late 19th century Portuguese dairy farmers purchased the land and produced milk and butter for residents of San Francisco. In 1969, 134 acres of this fertile coastline were rescued from commercial development. Slide Ranch camping fees directly fund scholarships for youth programs throughout the year. Slide Ranch is an unpaved ranch environment. Our trails and garden paths all consist of uneven, sloping terrain, often muddy or soft ground during the winter season, and may be challenging to access for visitors with significant mobility restrictions. Minors aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. No pets allowed; service animals are permitted. We do not have showering facilities or flush toilets. Water in all Slide Ranch taps is potable for refilling water bottles/jugs. Soap is provided for hand washing. Slide Ranch does not have any concessions on site. Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. We listed the site for up to 12 campers but feel free to reach out if your group is bigger. Please check out the newest addition of our cabin bunkhouse. Take a look at the pictures - you can add it to your stay as an extra when you book! The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward. 'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here. This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground. Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days. This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers. Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. 2 nights at Swallowtail Historic Art Studio

Bill’s land was one of the best hip camps I have ever stayed at! The Indonesian bedroom was so serene and I slept like a baby with the heated bed. The bathroom was so beautifully decorated with ornate paintings, little treasures, and the stained glass window was intricately stunning. The hot tub was a bonus and it was extremely close to the town of Petaluma and hiking trails. You definitely should stay here for a romantic getaway!

1 night at Slide Ranch

I was the only camper! I weathered 3 hours of rain and wind to spend a night on Quail Hill. By 5 pm it had cleared and the morning was absolutely clear, calm and blue. I hiked all the trails and liked the Muir Beach Overlook, 1.4 miles. It's a gradual up with memorable views of the coast and ocean the whole way. Tent #1 held up in the wind, had two cots and two camp chairs. Spectacular views and the sound of the ocean all night. 5 minutes from the parking lot, downhill and then up a short steep path. It felt private. Loved it.

Weekend Trip to Estero San Antonio Wonderland

What a lovely place. It was so quiet. When it was clear, there were lots of stars out. The place is really charming, rustic, sweet. We had an awesome fire three nights in a row. It is so close to Point Reyes with all kinds of great hiking. One day we paddled our kayaks right from our site for several miles on the estuary. We saw river otter, great blue heron, and all kinds of other birds. The hosts were kind and very responsive.

Weekend Trip to Wise Oak Farm

Stayed here with a friend visiting from out of town for a night and we really enjoyed our time at the Wise Oak Farm Tiny House. Between the house, rec room, barn and farm, there wasn’t a dull moment and it felt more like spending time at a friend’s home than an unfamiliar rental. The house is just a short drive to Sebastopol and Santa Rosa downtown for convenient access to restaurants and entertainment. But once at the house, you feel like you’re hours away from the hustle and have nature’s beauty to enjoy. The place is clean, well decorated and provided sufficient amenities. My friend and I also discussed staying here again for future visits. Thank you Daniel for providing a wonderful and thoughtful space.

10 nights at Bay Area Yurt Retreat!

What a beautiful site! The pictures accurately represented the property, but there was so much more to experience! The view of the city is amazing, and even more so during sunset. The amenities were great and included a window fan, microwave, and mini fridge. We were so happy with our stay. Communicating with Oscar was easy and quick. We also got to meet the owners of the property and they were incredibly kind and inviting. We would love to come back!

Slide ranch is perfectly situated near SF on the coast. Beautiful views, great hikes nearby. Loved seeing some of the ranch animals. Highway 1 is a touch closer than ideal, and you can hear some traffic noise, but overall great spot. We’ll definitely be back!

We had the most wonderful stay in this tiny home! The outdoor living space is perfect, and inside, the living area with a pull-out couch was so cozy. Every detail was thoughtfully decorated, and there was a place for everything- everything felt so cute and organized. Loved the two beds in the tiny home and then another whole space with the pull out couch- The spot is incredibly quiet and peaceful; waking up to birds chirping and hearing owls at night made it truly magical. We would absolutely come again and highly recommend this gem!

This is a really comfortable peaceful camp site. I enjoyed relaxing in the gardens. Amazing hot shower too! Kamala is a great host.

4 nights at Estero San Antonio Wonderland

Private campsite surrounded by blackberry bushes. The fire pit, outdoor shower, and compost toilet made for a genuine camping experience. The camper was comfortable inside and had perks like a nice bed, cookware, space heater, books, puzzles, and more.

Weekend Trip to Estero San Antonio Wonderland

I can’t express how unexpectedly wonderful our stay at the great blue heron was! The trailer is cute and clean and in a very special spot. We wandered over to the farm and met Guido who was very gracious and welcoming. We paddled on the Estero, met deer and rabbits and cats. Just the refresh we needed. Thank you!
