We had a wonderful long weekend in the mountains at The Nook. Abby, our host was very responsive and helpful. The cabin was clean, cozy and well stocked with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend. The dirt road was a bit of a challenge but after a couple times back and forth you figure it out. Would stay there again.

Weekend Trip to Earthbag Tiny House

This place is awesome!! It’s just the right amount of peaceful nature getaway with the essential amenities. I absolutely loved how dog friendly it was, especially the backyard being clear of anything sharp so my dogs could play without me worrying. The shower, grills, sink, and outdoor fire pit worked out great. It is June in the desert so temps were in the 90s/high 80s during the day. It cooled down at night + there is a ceiling fan but I would recommend bringing a little fan for the windows if you’re going on the summer. The house holds heat really well which I am sure is a huge pro in the winter but it can take a while to cool down inside if you go in the summer months. Really wasn’t too hot though, the ceiling fan helps a lot. Everything was VERY clean and Lucas even provided a clean bath towel, kitchen towel, toilet paper, paper towels, and a water jug! I would definitely recommend a vehicle with AWD or 4WD because the driveway is a bit steep and is not paved. Overall I had a great stay and already can’t wait to come back!

I took my son to San Diego to visit the college he will be attending next fall. We decided to stay in a campground. After researching for a while, we decided on Josie’s Mountain Top Hideout. Great location, amazing views, firm, but comfortable bed and great, peaceful atmosphere. We had a great time.

The space was beautifully thoughtful. The placements of the lighting, the pitfire placed in the middle, and the lovely hammocks. Everything is peaceful. Mikael also has a grill on site, the jacuzzi while staring at the stars is highly recommended too!

Seems strange to describe camping as “cute” but honestly, this cabin and surrounding accommodation truly was the cutest. The entire stay was perfection. From a super communicative and above and beyond host, Ken, to the amazing design and functionality of the cabin from entry door back to the shower/compostable toilet to the kitchen and picnic table with market lights. It has everything you need and it’s super clean. The stars at night were beautiful and best of all, my pup had the time of her life. Would highly recommend!

Awesome glamp site with a great view. This is one of the first I've stayed at where the pictures are what's actually there. The old school outhouse was fun for me and the shower was very comfortable. The host made regular contact and left some great recommendations for the local area. Im glad I took opportunity of that instead of guessing what's good in the area.

We LOVED camping in the Coyote A Frame Cabin! Bed was very comfy, blankets were perfect! Perfect blend glamping and enjoying nature! The orchard was beautiful and the entire property from the bathrooms, kitchen outdoor living and dining areas were perfect for a weekend getaway to be in nature and enjoy the outdoors! Everyone was very helpful and kind and responsive!

3 nights at Stargazer Cabin

My fiancé and I absolutely loved spending a few days and nights at Desert Stargazer Cabin. The provided pictures in this listing sure do the place justice, but, I’d still like to go into sharing about the details… Fully stocked kitchen, brand new appliances, fully stocked bathroom and shower, washer dryer in-one. A large indoor jacuzzi in the bathroom with jets and color-changing lights. The bed was a dream, couch very comfortable, many board games to choose from; it just felt like home. Hot tub outside, hanging hammocks on back porch, outside seating on both sides. A beautiful backyard with solar-generated colored lights under every bush, all of which turned on automatically just before dusk. A magical fire pit with big logs and rocks to sit on circling the ring. Very private and safely gated with a lock. We had the entire property to ourselves. I highly recommend this place. And, Mike, the owner/host, is an incredibly professional, kind, and accommodating individual. Very prompt with his replies to online private messages, as well as to phone calls and texts. We will never forget this place… wanna know why? Because we will surely be back to this gem!

We had an amazing time here. My boyfriend and I are starting to get back into camping and this was the perfect first trip. The house had everything you’d need for a comfortable trip, without losing any of the nature feeling. We loved how secluded it felt- my reactive dog was able to be off leash for a little which is incredible for her! Lucas was extremely responsive and helpful, we greatly appreciated the fresh towels. As a chronic overpacker, here’s what I’m glad I brought: Portable charger Headlamps What I wish I brought: A boyfriend with more PTO Overall, we had an amazing time and were so sad to go. I definitely recommend this spot!

My fiancé and I had a great time at Nopalito Farm! The hosts were welcoming and provided all the assistance we needed to get settled. The Squirrel Cabana was clean and cozy, and just a short walk from the awesome outdoor kitchen, shower, and bathrooms. The avocado orchard was a gorgeous setting with a number of small native / beneficial plantings interspersed. Fresh flowers in the cabana, kitchen, and bathrooms were a nice touch. If you are looking for a cozy, laid-back camping destination I would definitely consider Nopalito Farm.

The cabin was everything we had hoped for and more! The view was spectacular, the accommodations were comfortable, and everything was spotless upon arrival. Our host went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and taken care of and even made restaurant recommendations (which were EXCELLENT!). The nest has everything you need to have a quiet, private and comfortable retreat. I can't wait to return!

For our summer guests: We have a very strong central A/C throughout. I have stayed here in 114 degree heat and it has still been cool and comfortable inside. For our winter guests: We have an indoor pellet fireplace which keeps the living room warm, and our bed has a dual-control heating pad (each side can choose their own heat level), and there is a radiant wall heater in the bathroom. There is also central heating for the especially cold nights--please use only when necessary as we are on electric only here and the central heater is not very energy efficient. Our hot tub is designed to stay hot all the time so we always have it set for 100 degrees so it's ready to go when you arrive. Backyard has firepit for cold winter nights to enjoy the stars. We are available through the app or phone any time during your stay and also have local contacts available as well for any on-site emergencies. We're located in Johnson Valley, just about 5 minutes to King of the Hammers/Johnson Valley OHV area, 17 minutes to the Integratron, 18 minutes to La Copine Restaurant, 35 minutes to downtown Joshua Tree, 40 min to Joshua Tree Park West entrance, 45 min to Big Bear. There is a $50 pet fee per dog per reservation ($50 fee applies weekly for bookings of 7 days or longer). Please note no dogs on furniture and dogs cannot be left alone in the house at any time. There is doggie daycare for $18/day at Blue Barn Ranch or $30/day at Joshua Tree Pet Resort. We have real marble floors and ask you ensure your dogs have trimmed nails before they arrive that will not scratch them. Please note our property is not fenced. We have a neighbor that walks by each morning with 2 large and friendly dogs around 6:30-7am. There are coyotes and other wild animals that can be in the area so dogs should never be let out alone after dark. We do have a compact washer/dryer and only give access only for stays 5 or more nights. Please keep in mind we are on hauled water and usage should be within reason. OUTDOOR AMENITIES: We have a sitting area with wood firepit. Please note we do not provide firewood--they can be purchased at any local grocery store. If we have some there you are welcome to use it, but we don’t guarantee we will supply it or replenish if it runs out during your stay. If you are coming for a long stay and would like a lot of firewood, our neighbor can give you a quote to deliver. HOT TUB: No glass around or in hot tub, we have plastic cups provided. Please place hot tub cover on wood surround or rocks below, not on the ground/dirt. Please rinse off in the shower and wipe dirt/sand off your feet before entering hot tub. All 4 buckles on the cover and extra sandbags must be secured when not in use—it gets very windy here and the cover could easily blow away. Hot tub can be used any time, but please respect our neighbors and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm. ***Please note our hot tub gets serviced weekly on Fridays*** TV/INTERNET: We have a Roku TV with basic live channels as well as typical smart apps. Our wifi is 25 down/5 up and we typically actually get those speeds or a bit more on our tri-band mesh network with coverage both inside and outside the house. I have been able to watch streaming TV plus use my laptop to work at the same time without any issues. However please note when it gets especially windy, the internet can go in and out. DESERT/CABIN STUFF TO CONSIDER!! Please be aware we are in the actual desert! We have lots of nature around us and you will see some bugs and critters during your stay. We recommend keeping door closed at all times whenever possible to prevent bugs from getting in. During the summer there are lots of flies--if you leave doors open they will get inside. We have eco-friendly bug spray provided. In order to reach the house you'll need to drive about a mile down a dirt road. It's generally well-maintained and easy to drive, any type of car should be able to drive it (including regular sedans, etc.). However if there's heavy rain, it's possible it could be too muddy for 2-wheel drive vehicles. I have been able to get here without a problem in my 2WD SUV in the rain and even snow, but we are at the mercy of Mother Nature! Due to their age and not having screens, the windows are not to be opened (they are difficult to close and require multiple people and possibly tools to close them, tons of bugs go inside if left open, etc.). You can run the A/C on fan only if you want air circulation without A/C, but guests are not permitted to open them. We are on a water tank which means you need to be aware of willing to be conscious of your water use. Due to being on hauled water and septic and high electric costs, absolutely no filling up, emptying, or hooking up power of RVs, electric cars, trailers, etc. We have plenty of room if you want to park them on our property. We have two partially buried storage containers which we have created a barrier edge around the top, but guests need to be very cautious around the edges as there is a steep drop off on the other side of the barrier. In general guests need to take extreme care if choosing to walk around the yard as there may be steps and inclines that may be dangerous to walk on. There are animals and sharp desert plants on the property which could be dangerous to pets, children, or even adults. Guests exploring the property or letting their children/pets wander around the property do so at their own risk. If you drive off of the gravel areas of the driveway, you could get stuck in the sand, especially if your car does not have 4-wheel drive. We recommend to only drive and park on the areas with the gray rocks. As we are in an area where water is an especially precious resource, please be mindful of running the dishwasher or washing machine only when it's full, and if possible at night when the energy costs are lower. No electric car charging--if you charge your car or use any energy heavy equipment you will be charged an additional $50/day, or for actual cost of the extra usage above our average daily use, whichever is higher. This is a high fire hazard area, use of the firepit or smoking outside must be done with extreme care. Any fires in the firepit and cigarette butts must be fully extinguished and cannot be left unattended. Sometimes during high winds the county prohibits fires. It can get quite windy is this area, so we do not recommend leaving anything outside that could blow away or get knocked over. For this reason no inside furniture or linens can go outside at any time. Outdoor blankets must be taken with you when you go back inside. When it's especially windy power and/or internet can go in and out. Some carriers get service at our house, but the most reliable method is to turn your phone into airplane mode and connect to the wifi. In the Summer: A/C should be turned off or left at 78 when leaving the house for extended periods of time. Door should always be closed when A/C is on. In the Winter: Heating should be turned off or left at 65 when leaving the house for extended periods of time. Door should always be closed when heating is on.

She has no hook ups but there are battery lights and a clean double bed. Set a while on the dirt porch in the shell back chairs and reflect on life. Shangri-La is family, pet, UFO, and kid friendly. Bring 'em all! You will need to self clean this little slice of heaven. There are supplies in the closet and the outbuildings. You'll BYO sheets and towels to make up the beds and bathe, remember to take everything you brought with you, put back the key, and haul out your own trash. Sitting in the warm, sunny Coachella Valley, Palm Springs provides numerous options for adventurous explorers. San Bernardino National Forest is to the west and Joshua Tree National Park to the east. Palm Springs itself is overlooked by the impressive Mt. San Jacinto.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is an absolute don't miss—unless you're scared of heights! This 10-minute trip gives you a tremendous view of the valley of Chino Canyon. The 2.5-mile trip ends in Mt. San Jacinto State Park at an elevation of about 8,500 feet. Enjoy the beautiful overlooks from the park's observation decks and hiking trails.

Hipcampers looking for a real hiking challenge can get to Mt. San Jacinto's peak the old-fashioned way. The 14.5-mile Cactus to Clouds Trail goes all the way from Palm Springs to the mountaintop. It also gains just over 10,000 feet of elevation on the way! This exceptionally tough hike is unmarked in parts and is recommended for advanced and ambitious hikers only.

If heights aren't really your thing, explore the enormous Joshua Tree National Park. This 800,000-acre area sits at the intersection of two major deserts—the Mojave and Colorado. This is an extremely popular camping area, especially from mid-February to mid-May. It can be a little easier to score a campsite during the hot months of summer.
