On site is a work in progress and you will see project sites not fully completed. We have a hammock veranda that is fully shaded and a great place to relax along the river. Miles of biking paths run on the road right by where we are situated and there is a nearby river rafting company if you want the white water experience. Most of our campers are road tripping, getting away from LA, or are looking for a stopover on their way to/from Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, etc. We are in a desert climate – cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Portable heaters or fans with misting options are available for rent.

Campsites sit along the pond - perfect for catch-and-release fishing, paddle boarding, or kayaking. We have a small area with farm animals (pigs, goats, sheep, peacocks and chickens) for you to enjoy. Expect a desert climate: hot summers, cold winters. Each site includes a small table, potable water spigot, picnic table, and fire pit (bring your own wood). All sites are BYO tent or car-camping with the exception of our one Glamping Site which includes a queen bed. Some have vehicle height limits (noted in site names), and cannot accommodate pop-ups or truck campers. Amenities include one shared indoor toilet and an outdoor hot/cold shower. There are 2 kayaks and 2 paddleboards that are free to use amongst all guests. We offer self check-in and you're welcome to arrive anytime after 1PM; checkout is 11AM. Please respect quiet hours after 10PM if arriving late. CAMP RULES No Pets – Our dogs roam freely and protect the farm and see other animals as threats. You will be asked to leave with no refund if you bring a pet. Quiet Hours: 10 PM–7 AM. If we receive complaints about noise, you’ll be asked to leave immediately. 1 Tent + 1 Car are permitted per Site, with the exception of Site 4 which allows 2 tents/2 cars. If you are a large group with multiple tents and families, you will need to book multiple sites. Each site has a maximum capacity, so if you put in 12 people, it will not show you all the sites available - put in 4 people and then you can pick which combination of sites you would like for your group. No tents or canopies on the grass/lawn area. No fireworks or open flames outside of designated fire pits. Propane burners or grills are permitted. Do not feed the farm dogs - no treats or food, ever. For any sites located south of Ballinger Wash, your vehicle length is limited to 22' and no more than 4' overhang from the rear axle, so you don't get stuck in the crossing and block access for others. Towing services are 1-3 hours away. Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets and amazing stargazing. These UPPER SITES are NOT OHV friendly, but any of our canyon bottom sites are a great base for your riding adventures up in Ballinger Canyon OHV. We'll be happy to recommend a site for you. **Forest Service law enforcement is actively ticketing unplated OHV on Ballinger Canyon Road. Be sure to know and abide by the laws.** Our friendly cancellation policies vary between 24 hours for simple campsites and 72 hours for our Glamp sites and Group sites. I stayed at the cabin. Sadly, it was very windy until the morning I left and I couldn't stay long. But the cabin was comfortable and well equipped, and the view was just like the pictures. John was helpful and interesting, and he's done amazing things with his property. I would love to stay there again when I have more time. Oh - and my dog really liked it too.

Weekend Trip to Cuyama Badlands

The Glamp Tank site is really quite amazing. It's secluded, quiet, and comfortable. The hosts are very friendly and have just the right gear at the camp site to make your stay extra enjoyable. We enjoyed riding our bikes (bicycles, not motorbikes) around the property and exploring the surrounding area. Laying under the dark night sky viewing ALL of the stars was a favorite way to end the day. I highly recommend any of the sites at the Songdog Ranch and we will be back!

Weekend Trip to Lone Juniper Ranch

Lone Jupiter Ranch was such a fantastic getaway. The trails were wide, well-maintained and perfect for exploring with our dog, which made the whole stay feel like a true adventure. Our cabin was clean and cozy. It has a mini split so we were comfortable no matter the time of day. It was the perfect size for 2 people and 1 dog. We loved how peaceful and scenic everything was, making it easy to unplug and just enjoy nature. We had such a great time and are already planning to come back — next time we definitely want to try the campsite! Highly recommend Lone Jupiter Ranch for anyone looking for a clean, relaxing, dog-friendly escape.

John has such a cool spot! He gave us a tour right as we arrived. He’s a very kind man and built everything himself. My family of four loved the cabin and loved walking around on the trail. The bed and cot were great for us, and we cooked on the grill. It was a very peaceful stay!

Our stay at this cabin was truly a great experience from start to finish. John was very attentive and made the entire stay smooth and enjoyable. The cabin itself was incredibly cozy and warm, with a unique charm that made it feel special. The views were absolutely amazing and added so much to the overall atmosphere despite the weather we had. We did experience some strong winds during our visit, but even with that, we still fully enjoyed our time there. It didn’t take away from the experience at all. Overall, it’s the perfect spot to get away from the city while still being close enough to grab anything you might need. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable stay.

2 nights at The Squattage in the Sequoia National Forest!

The Squattage is the cutest little A-frame cabin I’ve ever been in! James is a great host and explained everything to us when we arrived. The lounge chairs outside were great to relax in after a long day of hiking! The location is great, close to the trail of 100 giants and the rest of Sequioa NP. Definitely recommend and hope to visit again soon!

Weekend Trip to North Fork Ranch (Horses Welcome)

At the end of a long, beautiful road into the mountains of Frasier Park! Next-door, an abandoned Boy Scouts property with hiking trails! And a seasonal stream flowing through! You turn in and off the main entrance you see your 5 foot tall fence the completely surrounds a small, tiny yellow colored cottage. Inside the fence, a private space, completely private, little messy, but forgiven because of the level of comfort the fire pit and Cottage gave me 😬🔥 inside, a magical world of relaxation and comfort! Rustic, but with everything you need! And the most comfortable bed and pillow pillows ever! Even the blankets were cushy and snuggly! The set up makes relaxation easy. And the kitchen has everything you need! And they even have food you can order! Love that! Took bread, farm fresh eggs, and a dozen monster size chocolate chip cookies home with me! They were delicious! It’s a chill spot. I wouldn’t stay here more than two nights with a young family. As for me, I was on a solo getaway to disconnect, unwind and reconnect with myself in the moment. This place was absolutely perfect for it! Also, you can walk around the farm and there’s so much beauty to it. So much cool stuff they’ve added, and then there’s animals! And don’t forget the surrounding mountains and the beautiful sunset 🥰

I have been camping at Songdog ranch several times and it’s been fantastic! This time I rented the pup dog cabin. It exceeded all expectations! Jim was gracious enough to greet us and make us feel right at home. The cabin had everything necessary to camp PLUS! I will definitely be staying at the cabin again! Thank you Jim and Jenny!

1 night at Diamond Acres Camp 🏕

The hosts are the most helpful people ever! My wife, our pup, and I got caught in a really bad ditch only 500 feet away from the campsite and the car wasn’t able to get out. Long story short they immediately contacted their neighbor to help pull us out and helped keep up spirits up! It’s all part of the adventure! It’s a very serene area, great spots to walk, sketch, and just disconnect from everything for a bit. We absolutely recommend them!

Weekend Trip to Spirit Walk - Private Retreat

The Playhouse was a sweet and cozy stay on John’s land. This was my first time in the Playhouse, having previously camped at the group site. The amenities are clean, easy to use, and well constructed. The Playhouse came well stocked. The views from each window inside the Playhouse were gorgeous, if you’re looking for a relaxing weekend inside. The shared kitchen is a fun space to commingle with other campers, if desired. We were able to check out the local creek that runs through his property, and have a lovely breakfast. I’d highly recommend visiting ant part of John’s property.

Really lovely stay. Was only there one night, and we got in very late, but John was completely accommodating and an amazing host. The little cabin is a wonder, and all built by the host. Incredible. We brought king-size bedding to fit the king size fold-out bed and had an absolutely magical little stay.
