formally used as a 1950's Boys Scouts of America campsite. Our Mom purchased the family property over 40 years ago, and my siblings and I grew-up with weekend trips exploring and camping on the property.

About the property
Our property is in the high desert above Borrego Springs at 4,300'. We border Anza Borrego State property which means you’ll be adjacent to plenty of beautiful open spaces. There are many trails in the park which lead to the desert floor from our fence line. On a clear day you can see the Salton Sea from the bottom of the property.
We have great access to nearby points of interest including Borrego Springs which is 20 miles away, Anza Borrego State Park which is adjacent to Julian at 40 miles away, Palomar observatory which is 40 miles away and Cuyamaca Lake which is fantastic for fishing only 45 miles away. If you need to pop into town for any supplies or services you can access Borrego Springs (20 miles away), Julian (40 miles away), Ramona (45 miles away), and Temecula (50 miles away).
We have 3 horseshoe pits and 9 frisbee golf baskets for recreation onsite and we have incredible dark skies for excellent stargazing. You may see many different forms of wildlife including mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, bob cats, racoons, badgers, and rattle snakes. You will see many rabbits, squirrels and tons of birds of all kinds! We are really the perfect location for those who love the outdoors!
Owners live on site but we like to greet, meet, and then leave you to your stay! Please reach out if you have questions or concerns though.
About the listing
Our listing is for tents, vans and truck campers, trailers, or RV’s and we can accommodate rigs up to 25ft in length. A few of our 5 sites are pull through sites on dirt and may require some leveling. All sites are dry camping only as we do not have any hookups, though there are two bathrooms and water available in a centralized area on the property.
You can expect High desert and scrub brush environments. Any vehicle should be able to access our property but 4-wheel drive vehicle might make it a little easier to access areas on the outside perimeter of the property. While staying with us you can expect some noise from coyotes, raven….wind and a little highway traffic on s22.

About the property
Our property is in the high desert above Borrego Springs at 4,300'. We border Anza Borrego State property which means you’ll be adjacent to plenty of beautiful open spaces. There are many trails in the park which lead to the desert floor from our fence line. On a clear day you can see the Salton Sea from the bottom of the property.
We have great access to nearby points of interest including Borrego Springs which is 20 miles away, Anza Borrego State Park which is adjacent to Julian at 40 miles away, Palomar observatory which is 40 miles away and Cuyamaca Lake which is fantastic for fishing only 45 miles away. If you need to pop into town for any supplies or services you can access Borrego Springs (20 miles away), Julian (40 miles away), Ramona (45 miles away), and Temecula (50 miles away).
We have 3 horseshoe pits and 9 frisbee golf baskets for recreation onsite and we have incredible dark skies for excellent stargazing. You may see many different forms of wildlife including mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, bob cats, racoons, badgers, and rattle snakes. You will see many rabbits, squirrels and tons of birds of all kinds! We are really the perfect location for those who love the outdoors!
Owners live on site but we like to greet, meet, and then leave you to your stay! Please reach out if you have questions or concerns though.
About the listing
Our listing is for tents, vans and truck campers, trailers, or RV’s and we can accommodate rigs up to 25ft in length. A few of our 5 sites are pull through sites on dirt and may require some leveling. All sites are dry camping only as we do not have any hookups, though there are two bathrooms and water available in a centralized area on the property.
You can expect High desert and scrub brush environments. Any vehicle should be able to access our property but 4-wheel drive vehicle might make it a little easier to access areas on the outside perimeter of the property. While staying with us you can expect some noise from coyotes, raven….wind and a little highway traffic on s22.

We tent camped for 3 nights with kids 7/9. They loved the mountain on the property, which was a short, easy, and super fun hike with caves and ropes and incredible views. The property was magical and the stars were incredible. We loved the dogs and it was really nice to have a decent toilet and water. Highly recommend!

My family had a wonderful time staying at Loomerland Ranch. My 8 year old daughter loved all of the animals roaming around, especially the sweet doggos that hung out with us and slept outside of the tent. There was also a really cute cat that walked the entire trail with us which was cool! My daughter also loved the slack line, the zip line, and the swings.
Originally we had booked Ellie's Tent Site but ended up moving just a few feet over to Betty's Tent Site which offered a little more privacy up against the hill. Betty's Site was also the only picnic table with a covering which was perfect for the midday sun.
We ended up forgetting some of our cooking gear so we used the communal kitchen which offered filtered water and a propane stove.
My daughter has already asked to go back so we plan to return in the Fall!

Easy to get to but still felt remote. The hosts were extremely friendly and clearly enjoy what they do. The campsite itself was spacious with some nice Oak trees for shade and the bathrooms/showers were clean and well maintained. The course was tons of fun and the views were ridiculous! Can see all the way to the ocean from the right spots.
There is plenty of space at camp for games and whatnot, and they also had a putting course that they lit up for us and guided us through a glow round in the evening.
They have a few well behaved camp dogs, including Milo, who loves to join you on your round and help you track discs, which is helpful. He has the kind of boundless energy only kids can match. He played with us literally all day and into the night before settling down with us in front of the fire pit. Even then he was chasing embers off the fire lol. That dog is absolutely living his best life there and I can say he’s not the only one.
My group is already talking about a return trip. Thanks to our hosts for such a wonderful experience!

Laura’s place was such a great stay! The amenities were amazing—having access to a hot shower and a fridge made everything so comfortable and convenient. Our favorite part was sleeping right by the creek and falling asleep to the sound of frogs… it felt so peaceful and unique. Just a heads up—definitely bring mosquito repellent since you’re right by the water!
It was also super convenient that there’s a market within walking distance in case you forget anything, plus a beautiful nearby park where my husband and I spent time playing frisbee, which we loved. One thing to note is that the sites are very close to each other, so it’s not the most private setup if that’s something that matters to you.
Overall, Laura was incredibly sweet and accommodating, which made the experience even better. We had such a relaxing, enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend it!

I stayed in my van and it was a great place to spend the night. The creek was lovely and I really appreciated the tables and chairs provided. The bathroom and kitchen was clean and had everything I needed. Laura was super quick to respond to my messages and gave very thorough instructions on how to get to the property. The sites are fairly close together but I didn't mind because I only spent evenings/mornings there. A nice spot for a short weekend trip!

The owner's came to visit with us when we pulled into the site and provided some general guidance on the location of the pond area, and other interesting sites. He also let us park in another open area since we were the only people there that night. We had a great visit with our 20' van. Pet friendly (on leash) location with plenty of sites to visit and see. Clean restrooms are facilities. Plenty of wildlife to see and stars to gaze at. We'll be back.

We had a great time at this site! Buggy but that’s to be expected, better with campfire smoke. The views were unbeatable and we made friends with the farm dogs and kitty. Loved getting to say hi to the other farm animals as well. Fair warning - the outhouse facility was quite rustic. I remembered seeing « flush toilets » on the listing but when we asked where restrooms were, were only pointed to the outhouses. Far from a dealbreaker, just a bit of a change from what we expected. Overall an amazing site and would recommend!

Went with my 13 year old son and dad. Super easy to find, Julian will send the GPS coordinates before your trip; if you enter those into google maps you won't have any problems, it takes you right there (it would be challenging otherwise, I think). Beautiful location on a farm pond, just a few minutes of the main highway coming west out of Westmoreland. One of the ranch hands (Andrew?) came by a couple times to ask if we needed anything, offered ice, potatoes, even offered to move the portapotty so it was more convenient (we did not take him up on that, but it was super nice to offer) etc; super friendly guy. Kid had an amazing time exploring the pond, fishing and swimming. I've heard that it can get windy, but we did not experience that. I think it's definitely worth checking the forecast specifically for wind before you go, I can see that it could go from pleasant to miserable pretty quickly if the wind kicked up. Kid is already bugging me to go back, so.....

We stayed at Pondside on Julian’s land. Very basic but worked well for us. Would come back. A small complaint: Tables were are bit hard to sit at because the stools are uneven. Loud croaking frogs all night, so if you are a light sleeper, you might want to consider elsewhere, but we slept great. Nice views of the sunset over the mountains

Tent
I stayed in my tent for four nights in the Shady Grove site. Lots of shade and plenty of room for me. My site seemed to be the best site in the immediate vicinity. I had a pleasant experience. My main complaint is about having to drive on route 94 to get to the campsite and to get to San Diego. It seemed to me that many people drive too fast on that road.
