Harbison Canyon is surrounded by rocky peaks, with a CREEK! We have multiple species of song birds, owls, hawks, and other wildlife that live in this Riparian Habitat. There is a chorus of frogs throughout the spring nights, and crickets year round!
It's a very short walk to the neighborhood park- equipped with several types of playground equipment and public creek access, or a five minute drive to a Crestridge Ecological Reserve containing multiple trails.
We have three campsites and a cabin on about an acre of land. If you'd like to hang out on the property, we offer a table and chairs with each campsite to lounge in while enjoying the fresh air and nature. There are also a couple of hammocks available.
In addition, our SHARED amenities include an outdoor kitchen that includes a sink with hot water, 2 mini fridges,(full at times, extra coolers available) coffee maker, a two burner stove, a griddle, a toaster oven, blender, tea kettle, and a few pans, plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. Also here to SHARE is a Propane fire pit and BBQ area. The bathroom now includes a flush toilet, sink and shower. We are continuously making improvements.
Fun Fact:
Harbison Canyon was named after John Stewart Harbison - aka the King of the Bee Keepers. He arrived with over one hundred colonies of bees in 1874 and within 7 years he became the world's largest honey producer!
Today there are just a few bees in the area.

Our location is also unique because we are fully fenced in and have a separate turn out space for your horses (check add-ons for camping with your horse). We also have a small 1954 Camper ("Lucy") that can act as a second bedroom for more sleeping space (check for add-on).
**WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: We can provide a ramp for the Airstream for accessibility, though please be aware the camper is small, likely not wide enough for a standard wheelchair, and the bathroom is also small and doesn't meet ADA standards. Please ask if you have questions?!

It's a very short walk to the neighborhood park- equipped with several types of playground equipment and public creek access, or a five minute drive to a Crestridge Ecological Reserve containing multiple trails.
We have three campsites and a cabin on about an acre of land. If you'd like to hang out on the property, we offer a table and chairs with each campsite to lounge in while enjoying the fresh air and nature. There are also a couple of hammocks available.
In addition, our SHARED amenities include an outdoor kitchen that includes a sink with hot water, 2 mini fridges,(full at times, extra coolers available) coffee maker, a two burner stove, a griddle, a toaster oven, blender, tea kettle, and a few pans, plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. Also here to SHARE is a Propane fire pit and BBQ area. The bathroom now includes a flush toilet, sink and shower. We are continuously making improvements.
Fun Fact:
Harbison Canyon was named after John Stewart Harbison - aka the King of the Bee Keepers. He arrived with over one hundred colonies of bees in 1874 and within 7 years he became the world's largest honey producer!

Laura’s place was such a great stay! The amenities were amazing—having access to a hot shower and a fridge made everything so comfortable and convenient. Our favorite part was sleeping right by the creek and falling asleep to the sound of frogs… it felt so peaceful and unique. Just a heads up—definitely bring mosquito repellent since you’re right by the water!
It was also super convenient that there’s a market within walking distance in case you forget anything, plus a beautiful nearby park where my husband and I spent time playing frisbee, which we loved. One thing to note is that the sites are very close to each other, so it’s not the most private setup if that’s something that matters to you.
Overall, Laura was incredibly sweet and accommodating, which made the experience even better. We had such a relaxing, enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend it!

I stayed in my van and it was a great place to spend the night. The creek was lovely and I really appreciated the tables and chairs provided. The bathroom and kitchen was clean and had everything I needed. Laura was super quick to respond to my messages and gave very thorough instructions on how to get to the property. The sites are fairly close together but I didn't mind because I only spent evenings/mornings there. A nice spot for a short weekend trip!

Joel is a chill dude and his property is tucked away in a quiet area just two minutes from the freeway. He’s got a restroom and a shower with plenty of hot water. Gwen, Joel’s dog, is old but very friendly and she got along with our dog nicely. This is only the 2nd place we’ve stayed at more than once as we’ve traveled from one side of the country to the other and back again. We’ll definitely stay here again in the future.

The owner's came to visit with us when we pulled into the site and provided some general guidance on the location of the pond area, and other interesting sites. He also let us park in another open area since we were the only people there that night. We had a great visit with our 20' van. Pet friendly (on leash) location with plenty of sites to visit and see. Clean restrooms are facilities. Plenty of wildlife to see and stars to gaze at. We'll be back.

I stayed in my tent for four nights in the Shady Grove site. Lots of shade and plenty of room for me. My site seemed to be the best site in the immediate vicinity. I had a pleasant experience. My main complaint is about having to drive on route 94 to get to the campsite and to get to San Diego. It seemed to me that many people drive too fast on that road.

Joel was kind, thoughtful and went above and beyond to help us. When people say “the kindness of strangers” I will always remember Joel. Everything is clean and he has planted many flowers. There is a senior doggie that guards the campsite. The site is quirky in a laid back way. Everyone is smiling within hours of arriving. Everyone.

Beautiful property, quiet atmosphere, great to explore. Neighboring campers were pleasant. Camp Host Lexi was accommodating and informative. We loved the pet friendly environment and enjoyed playing in the creek. Will stay here again in the future.

Make sure to stay within the boundaries, as you don’t want to wander into a Navy SEALS exercise, as beaches north and south of Silver Strand are military property.

Stingrays have been known to rest atop the sand in the surf zone--avoid them by shuffling your feet as you wade into the water.

The only food in a 15 minute radius is a small snack bar near the lifeguard tower, so make sure to bring some grub if you don’t want to be eating hot dogs and candy for the entirety of your trip (although we see nothing wrong with that diet).
