2 nights at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Glamping

Sugarloaf is an amazing camping location. The camp hosts made it even better. They are kind, friendly, and very helpful. The set up was great. Morning sun and afternoon shade was ideal for late May.

Really loved this campsite! Best parts were how private it felt and the large space. Also was in a very safe area and had fun swings and other cool amenities for our 4 yr old to use. We even saw a deer up close! It was a good first camping experience for our toddlers. You definitely need four wheel drive to get up and though the cabin was nice to have, there was evidence of mice, so this is a better space for the pure camping experience—which was great for us to use our tent and experience sleeping outdoors for the first time with our little ones (age 4 and 2).

Weekend Trip to Zen Teahouse Studio in the forest

For our Memorial Day getaway, we were looking to have a slightly elevated camp style experience and stumbled upon this listing. Juliana’s studio was just the right mix of cozy and convenient. The sleeping arrangements were perfect and the kitchen was adequate for our needs - though we didn’t cook a lot, we did heat up our food. There was not a microwave, but the hot plate was adequate. The half bath was good and clean as well. The outdoor shower was the one I was slightly nervous about… it does take a slight learning curve but we figured it out after much googling and texting Juliana. We finally figured that the hose bib was outside the studio door, separate from the rest of the set up incl propane tank and heat tap which were in the shower area. The wind kept blowing out the gas so we had to flit in and out of the shower to keep restarting the tap which was slightly inconvenient. It was all good, although if you’re a bit paranoid about privacy like me, you may want to put up some coverings around the shower area for reassurance. All in all, it was a good relaxing stay and I would recommend it highly!

This is the perfect place to disconnect, relax and unwind. It was so quiet and close to nature. But they have wifi should you need it. Truly the ultimate balance between comfort and the outdoors. I bet the view is even more spectacular in the summer. All the things here are well thought of. They really have everything you need (and more) for a comfortable stay. From beddings, cooking equipment and utensils, tableware, toiletries (they smell so goood), towels, firewood, to the nice-to-haves like game boards, books, binoculars, flashlight, coffee, tea, eggs and even a radio! Their homemade seasoning is great! Literally, just bring clothes and food. I have zero athleticism in me and had no issues walking downhill to the tent. Anybody can do it. Just pack light! William is also very accommodating and happy to share information about the trees, plants and flowers around. Half Moon Bay is 20 mins away, so you can even go on a side trip to the beach. There are also other places to discover like wineries, breweries and local shops and restaurants. We are so glad we discovered this gem and will definitely be back.

This was a beautiful quiet cabin right on ridge-line of the Santa Cruz mountains. The host was accommodating and provided delicious fresh eggs, snacks, coffee, and beer. I would visit again. My kids enjoyed it. It was just right for 2 adults and 2 kids. The bed was very comfortable but I could not have slept on the foldable couch. Overall, I loved it.

Weekend Trip to Kings Mountain Camp w/ ocean views

i can’t even start with how incredible my time was in tent 1. even though the weather turned and i couldn’t see the ocean, the marine layer dripping on the tent and in the trees, it created a bit of extra magic. the tent itself was cozy and so well thought out with what they had inside amenities wise. i was warm all night, keeping the first going until bed and closing the damper a bit worked. i enjoyed the eggs provided for breakfast and some tea. the outdoor shower and bathroom were wonderful, especially since it wasn’t shared with the other tents. it was quiet. everyone was respectful of the noise policy. william and sana are exquisite hosts and im grateful for this overnight stay. i picked up some goodies from the tiny farm stand outside the gate and the cocoa is delicious and the wood burned fir a long time at a beer by state park. can’t wait to return. thanks for everything!

My husband and I had such a lovely stay. I felt like a kid at summer camp, I almost cried because I didn’t want to go home! The house has everything you could need, it has quirks but expected for a Hipcamp! The pond has so many beautiful fish, and you can feed them. The chickens, roosters, ducks and goose are all friendly and have their own personality. Sometimes we got a chicken fashion show along the deck through the sliding glass door. Every room has a view out to the pond and mountain range/ocean. The view from the deck or the pond are incredible. We got rain one of the days we were there and it didn’t matter, we still had an amazing view and cozied up with a puzzle we’d brought. There are other cabins on either side of you, but you have reasonable privacy. We got lucky and there weren’t bookings on both sides at the same time during our stay, YMMV. We were so close to trails, on the day we got good weather we visited the redwoods. That night I enjoyed a bath in the outdoor tub, to soak my tired bones, it was magical! We’re already talking about going back, our new happy place.

Today, the 7-acre farm is being restored to sustainably support fruit orchards, cottage flower and kitchen gardens, honey bees, a boisterous flock of chickens, and naughty shetland sheep. Our self-serve farmstand attached to our barn has seasonal flowers, organic eggs, heirloom fruit, and local goods from the farm. We are a 5 acre property and home surrounded by tall redwood and oak trees. Very green and lots of shade. These are the amenities/facilities you will have free access to: Pool, Pool chairs and umbrellas, Deck area with sunset view, Trampolines, and hammocks. There is not cooking allowed by or at any of the common areas, due to flies and critters. Cooking and eating is only allowed by your sites and not in any common areas: Hammocks, Trampolines, Pool Area, tables, sink, and deck please follow this rule because we want to prevent our shared areas to be fly and bug infested. We are still working on ridding the flies and cleaning. (please try to bring prepackaged food or something easy. If anything you can drive 10 minutes to nearby food and grocery). In the past we let people cook and eat around the pool but now our whole property is fly infested and I find scattered leftovers on the ground. Thanks for understanding. THERE IS A 1-2 MINUTE HIKE TO THE CAMPSITES 1-5! Poolside campsites are closer to the parking and are bigger. CHECK OUT OUR NEW LODGING: This property is my home that I live in with my 2 kids. It is a rustic and homey vibe, definitely not a hotel. We want you to come knowing what to expect. Our property offers a pool, and trampolines for the kids. We have a deck patio area that overlooks an amazing view of the redwood forest. Most of our guests are those that come from foreign countries and they all LOVE the property. We have four lovely Glamping sites at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park and 25 miles of hiking trails, nestled in the glorious chaparral of the Mayacama Mountain Range and Sonoma Hills, deep in the heart of wine country. The cost is $150 per night on weekends (Fri and Sat) and $125 per night on weekdays (Sun-Thurs). There is a 2-night minimum stay required between Memorial Day and Labor Day. In our family-friendly campground, our tents are 16-Foot Canvas and come with one queen-size bed, two futon lounge chairs (May be converted to twin beds), rugs, tables, lighting, and complementary firewood the first night. At no additional cost, we can add up to two twin beds to each tent upon request to sleep up to 6 people. 8 people max allowed at the campsite. The glamping sites include a picnic table, fire ring, outdoor seating, and room for additional tents if desired. All sites are easy walking distance to flush toilets and a bathhouse, with large, clean, coin operated hot shower rooms. There is no cell service in the park, but free WiFi is available at the Visitor Center. PLEASE NOTE that Bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets) IS NOT included in a standard rental, but is available as an add-on. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bedding whenever possible. If no bedding is added, we will assume a one-queen setup with mattress covers only. We kindly ask guests to provide at least 48-hour notice if bedding will be required. It is about a 1.7-mile hike on a rolling dirt road from the Sam McDonald County Park parking lot, with about 650 feet of elevation gain. Most hikers can reach the cabin in an hour or less. Guests should plan to arrive at least 2 hours before sunset, and pack water and flashlights or headlamps. Guests with limited mobility, please contact us for information regarding accommodations that will allow you to access this shared resource. *A note about reservation availability: On the weekends, POST offers priority reservations for the cabin to our partners at the San Mateo County Health Department and Park Rx to provide patients with equitable access to the benefits of nature. Native people have cared for this land since time immemorial, including the local Muwekma and Ramaytush Ohlone who are still active in the area today. This property specifically is host to a tributary to one of just a handful of waterways that support salmonids in this region, which are a species of tremendous importance to native people. Over 1000 acres here were eventually purchased by entrepreneur Ridgeway Rowley, who built a home on the ranch in the 1880s as part of an unsuccessful wedding proposal to Fannie Page, daughter of a local mill owner (ever heard of Page Mill Road?) After being rejected by Fannie, Rowley operated the ranch for a decade in conjunction with his work as District Attorney and publisher of the Palo Alto Weekly, before eventually returning to his hometown of Cortland, NY, where he lived as a bachelor until his death. Over the course of the 20th century, the ranch was divided, some parts of which became Pescadero Creek County Park. POST purchased the 350 acre home property, now called Alpine Ranch, in 2012 through our Heart of the Redwoods campaign, an initiative to protect 20,000 acres of Redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Alpine Ranch borders Pescadero Creek County Park and Sam McDonald County Park, adding to the area’s protected open space and containing more than a mile of tributaries to Pescadero Creek, which flows year-round and is a major spawning stream for steelhead trout. The Audrey Edna Cabin at Alpine Ranch is situated at one of the property's most scenic overlooks. The cabin was built in the early 1900's, and completely reconstructed up to modern building codes by POST in 2018 so that all could enjoy this special place.
