This is our home but we love to share our life in the outback. We believe it will give you a better appreciation of life's simpler side. That being said, and to maintain the balance here at home, we'd appreciate if you keep your dogs in your car until you get to your site.
Our offerings include fresh air and sunshine, amazing night sky, endless views, and plenty of space and privacy to enjoy your moments in nature. You'll find our amenities and activities puposefully sparse here. Upon booking, there are about 5 miles of dirt road on the property that you are welcome to explore on foot or by bicycle.
Rustic is the theme here. There is no shower, no wifi, and no electricity available, but you will enjoy your own private spigot and the cellular service is acceptable.
For any sites located south of Ballinger Wash, your vehicle length is limited to 22' and no more than 4' overhang from the rear axle, so you don't get stuck in the crossing and block access for others. Towing services are 1-3 hours away.
Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets and amazing stargazing. These UPPER SITES are NOT OHV friendly, but any of our canyon bottom sites are a great base for your riding adventures up in Ballinger Canyon OHV. We'll be happy to recommend a site for you. **Forest Service law enforcement is actively ticketing unplated OHV on Ballinger Canyon Road. Be sure to know and abide by the laws.**
Our friendly cancellation policies vary between 24 hours for simple campsites and 72 hours for our Glamp sites and Group sites. Be sure to check the Google for distance to Cuyama Valley, and your dates for availability and site descriptions. 1948- On January 1, 1948 a wildcatter named George Hadley, who had been oil prospecting in the valley for 10 years, made the first oil strike in the Cuyama Valley. Richfield Oil Company soon moved in and extracted nearly 300 million barrels of oil in just a few short years. To accommodate an exploding workforce in the early 1950s, the company built the town of New Cuyama, its infrastructure, public buildings, the Cuyama airstrip (L88) and all the industrial structures that are now home to Blue Sky. Richfield Oil Company, later merging with Atlantic Oil Company forming the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company (ARCO), created high-paying jobs, a safe and prosperous community, and developed schools, churches, and recreational areas for the employee-residents.1973- With dwindling production in the area and new discoveries in Alaska, Atlantic-Richfield Oil Company put the town of New Cuyama and its associated infrastructure up for sale. Word of an entire town for sale made its way to entrepreneur, Russell O’Quinn of the Foundation for Airborne Relief (FAR) and Mildred Dotson, a wealthy widow from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The two worked together to acquire the townsite and adjacent land. O’Quinn, an aviator, inventor, and test pilot, aspired to use the New Cuyama airstrip and facilities as a base for humanitarian relief and a non-profit trade school. Though not fully realized, FAR’s primary vision included utilizing converted military aircraft to airlift food and medical supplies to developing countries and global disaster areas. Dotson had loftier goals. Her plans included an 18-hole fly-in golf course, expansion of the Buckhorn Restaurant and Motel, and a 40- to 50-acre lake for amphibious landing and water sports. 1986- Another visionary, Harry Kislevitz, inventor of the popular design tool Colorforms® and founder of Future City/Villages International, sought to develop the site as a “City of Friendship,” an all-electric village of 5,000 earthen homes. The dwellings were to be designed by Nader Khalili, an Iranian-born architect who specialized in earthen structures, worked with NASA on prototypes for lunar homes and received an award from the United Nations for his work towards the development of low cost, sustainable structures for human shelter in impoverished and disaster prone environments. One 628-sq-ft Khalili prototype remains on the property today ("the Cantina"). Khalili went on to form the California Institute for Earth Art and Architecture, Cal-Earth, in Hesperia, CA.1993- Recognizing the transformative potential of clean, solar power and the attractiveness of a rural destination, entrepreneur Mike Nolan worked to develop the Solar Skypark and Big Sky Guest Ranch with Santa Barbara Architect, Barry Berkus. The Sky Park included plans for sixty-five fly-in residences on one-acre lots powered completely from clean, solar energy. The Big Sky Guest Ranch was intended to function as a clubhouse for Skypark residents complete with an equestrian center, a small subsistence farm, pool and plenty of enriching recreational activities. 2012- At the end of 2011, the Zannon Family Foundation made a long-term investment in acquiring the New Cuyama Airport property with the vision of rehabilitating the site to be a low-cost resource for programs and organizations working to advance sustainable living practices and technologies. Plans began soon after towards developing a framework and organization to develop the space and coordinate with prospective programs and institutions. In 2014 Blue Sky Sustainable Living Center ("Blue Sky Center") received 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status, endeavoring to reclaim this property for the public good. Today, Blue Sky Center provides unduplicated services and technical assistance to support small businesses and entrepreneurs as well as the local food system, with core work focused on community research and advocacy led by Cuyamans. Sites are spread around on the east side of the property facing the river for beautiful river views while you sip coffee from your site. There are a multitude of recreation opportunities to enjoy.
On site there is hiking, places to practice yoga or meditate, kayaking, paddle boarding. We also have a hammock veranda that is fully shaded and a great place to relax along the river. Miles of biking paths run on the road right by where we are situated and there is a nearby river rafting company if you want the white water experience.
Most of our campers are road tripping, getting away from LA, or are looking for a stopover on their way to/from Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, etc. We are in a desert climate – cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Portable heaters or fans with misting options are available for rent.

Carrisa Plains is known for its beautiful display of wild flowers in the spring time, incredible sunny days, and spectacular wildlife viewing. The ranch is also located a short 29 min drive from the Carrizo Plain National Monument and Las Padres National Forest.
Tule elk, prog horn antelope, and valley quail are just some of the animals you may encounter on our ranch. The pond is full of fish (bass, blue gill & sun perch) so don’t forget your fishing poles (catch & release).

The summer days can get pretty toasty and the winter nights can get very chilly so check the weather before your stay and plan accordingly. Don’t forget your swim suits as we have soaking troughs for you to cool off in.
-Also please note we are located an hour from the nearest town, no stores or gas stations. Please come fully equipped with your own utensils, cooking essentials, food and beverages. We sell ICE!! $5 per 5lb bag.
We are off grid, there is no electricity, all lights are battery or solar powered. You may want a flashlight or headlamp for walking around at night.

Cellular Service - Verizon is the only dependable steady service out here as we have a Verizon tower on the ranch. All other service is spotty if existent at all.

Located in a spectacular mountain setting just 90 miles north of Los Angeles, Pine Mountain Club is a residential community in the Los Padres National Forest. Relax & unwind while surrounded by acres of old forests that shelter an array of flora & fauna, including the rare California Condor. This gambrel cabin was one of the original homes built in PMC in 1976. The 70s vibe is still alive with cork floors, shag rugs, wood paneling, record players, an 8-track player & an orange Malm fireplace.
The space
Our 1970s chalet-style gambrel cabin is located at an altitude of 5500 feet above sea level. Both bedrooms are equipped with organic latex mattresses (queen downstairs, full upstairs) and ROKU smart TVs. There is also a TV with basic cable, a VHS player, and classic video games in the living room downstairs. Upstairs we have a projector for watching movies on a big screen. The kitchen is equipped with a full size refrigerator, oven/stove, Nespresso machine with milk frother, blender, waffle maker and fondue pot. We have board games, puzzles, records, 8-track cassettes, VHS tapes, a projector (for VHS or streaming movies), a guitar, keyboard, and a working fireplace. Towels and linens are provided. The washer and dryer cannot be used by guests, but there is a laundromat in the village and another in Frazier Park.
Keep in mind this is not a hotel, this is a privately owned cabin in the middle of a National Forest. The water may take a little longer to heat up, the electric heaters might smell a little dusty the first time they are turned on after a long summer, spiders might rebuild their webs less than 24 hours after the space is cleaned, there may be dirt on the outdoor furniture, you might need to wear insect repellant in the summer or shovel the driveway and deck in the winter. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is not it, but if you want a fun, comfortable getaway in the mountains, please submit a booking inquiry. You are expected to complete a checkout checklist which includes washing your dishes and putting them away where you found them, making sure all wall heaters are off, etc.
Guest access
You'll be in walking distance of the PMC Clubhouse which houses a restaurant, bar, recreation room, community swimming pool and hot tub (SUMMER ONLY), tennis courts, and a golf course. If you'd like to use the pool, please send names of all guests so I can register you in advance. There is a fee of $5 per person, per day, for the temporary pool passes to be paid at the pro shop on pickup. We're also close to hiking trails and the village where you'll find the Pine Mountain General Store, Bear Claw Bakery, The Perch, gift shops, and more.
During the WINTER months, there is a chance of snow and/or ice on the roads. You will need 4WD/AWD or tire chains on hand. The CA Highway Patrol is often checking cars before allowing access. You may also need to show confirmation of your reservation. We have a snow shovel on the deck in case you need to shovel the driveway or deck. Parking on the street is not allowed. We've had several guests say they grew up on the East coast and know how to drive in snow, only to comment about the curvy, icy road into the forest which is no joke! Even if you are prepared, someone in front of you might not be, so have warm clothes or blankets in the car, a full tank of gas, and some snacks in case you get stuck.
Other things to note
There is an outdoor security camera on the property.
The cabin is not in the middle of nowhere, we have neighbors on all sides. Please be respectful.
The wi-fi is pretty reliable but as we are in a rural area, it can be slow and it does go out from time to time. If you absolutely must have internet access guaranteed, this may not be the place for you.
No shoes in the house
Rules
The two overriding rules are 1) Leave the home the way you found it and 2) Respect the privacy and quiet of our neighbors.
- NO SHOES IN THE HOUSE
- Please do not rearrange the furniture. Use coasters on wood surfaces! Be gentle with everything - most items are vintage.
- Basic cleaning up after yourself is expected, including washing your dishes and putting them away.
- Trash and recycling must be taken to the transfer site when you check out.
- We provide a checkout checklist so you remember to turn all heaters off, lock doors and windows, etc.
- Commercial photography/filming is not allowed without permission. Please send details in advance and we will get back to you with the rates for your project.
- No outdoor fires of any kind
- Quiet hours in PMC are 10pm - 7am
- Smoking allowed outside ONLY. Please keep doors and windows closed. If the house smells of smoke after you leave you will lose your deposit to cover the cost of odor removal. Dispose of butts properly - not on the ground.
- Pets are not allowed. We had to change our policy after a bad experience.
- This is a forest, and bears (and other wildlife) are frequently sighted. No food or trash should be left outside the cabin unattended. All doors and windows need to be closed if you're not in the room. There is an air horn in the downstairs bedroom closet, and whistles near the sliding glass door. If you see a bear, make a lot of noise to scare it away.
- Missing items will be deducted from your deposit plus a $50 service fee per item.
- NO fireworks or guns of any kind (including BB and paintball)
- No parking on the street. If you have a RV please contact me in advance to discuss options.
- Any additional guests beyond the number stated in your reservation must be approved in advance.
- Your name and contact information will be shared with the Pine Mountain Club Property Owner's Association, in case of emergency or neighbor complaints.
- You must provide your email address in advance of your stay. Documents will be sent for you to print out.

Our two-story home is located on a quiet street at 5771 feet. Lovely pine ceilings throughout the cabin contribute to the warm ambience. The 1000 sq. ft. interior is furnished in a modern style with a leather sofa and some cool abstract art on the walls. The living room has a wood stove and 50" smart HDTV with direct satellite & Blu Ray DVD. A skylight in the living room brings in lots of light.
The master bedroom (queen bed) is separate from the downstairs and reached via a spiral staircase leading up to French doors. The master bathroom adjoins the bedroom and has a skylight over the double length tiled shower. A second bedroom downstairs has a murphy bed with a queen size mattress. There is air conditioning in the living room as well as in the upstairs bedroom and 2 fans are provided-- although generally temps are not above 85 degrees on a hot day and generally drop into the 60's in the evening.
Upper and lower decks offer lovely views of Mt. Pinos and the San Emigdio range. Relax on the sunny decks or in the Adirondack chair near the pond surrounded by pine trees. Plan to do some bbqing--it is so pleasant to do some grilling on the upper deck bbq and dine outdoors.
Our cabin is clean and well-kept. It can comfortably accommodate 4 people. Please NO smoking or pets!

For any sites located south of Ballinger Wash, your vehicle length is limited to 22' and no more than 4' overhang from the rear axle, so you don't get stuck in the crossing and block access for others. Towing services are 1-3 hours away.
Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets and amazing stargazing. These UPPER SITES are NOT OHV friendly, but any of our canyon bottom sites are a great base for your riding adventures up in Ballinger Canyon OHV. We'll be happy to recommend a site for you. **Forest Service law enforcement is actively ticketing unplated OHV on Ballinger Canyon Road. Be sure to know and abide by the laws.**

1948- On January 1, 1948 a wildcatter named George Hadley, who had been oil prospecting in the valley for 10 years, made the first oil strike in the Cuyama Valley. Richfield Oil Company soon moved in and extracted nearly 300 million barrels of oil in just a few short years. To accommodate an exploding workforce in the early 1950s, the company built the town of New Cuyama, its infrastructure, public buildings, the Cuyama airstrip (L88) and all the industrial structures that are now home to Blue Sky. Richfield Oil Company, later merging with Atlantic Oil Company forming the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company (ARCO), created high-paying jobs, a safe and prosperous community, and developed schools, churches, and recreational areas for the employee-residents.1973- With dwindling production in the area and new discoveries in Alaska, Atlantic-Richfield Oil Company put the town of New Cuyama and its associated infrastructure up for sale. Word of an entire town for sale made its way to entrepreneur, Russell O’Quinn of the Foundation for Airborne Relief (FAR) and Mildred Dotson, a wealthy widow from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The two worked together to acquire the townsite and adjacent land. O’Quinn, an aviator, inventor, and test pilot, aspired to use the New Cuyama airstrip and facilities as a base for humanitarian relief and a non-profit trade school. Though not fully realized, FAR’s primary vision included utilizing converted military aircraft to airlift food and medical supplies to developing countries and global disaster areas. Dotson had loftier goals. Her plans included an 18-hole fly-in golf course, expansion of the Buckhorn Restaurant and Motel, and a 40- to 50-acre lake for amphibious landing and water sports. 1986- Another visionary, Harry Kislevitz, inventor of the popular design tool Colorforms® and founder of Future City/Villages International, sought to develop the site as a “City of Friendship,” an all-electric village of 5,000 earthen homes. The dwellings were to be designed by Nader Khalili, an Iranian-born architect who specialized in earthen structures, worked with NASA on prototypes for lunar homes and received an award from the United Nations for his work towards the development of low cost, sustainable structures for human shelter in impoverished and disaster prone environments. One 628-sq-ft Khalili prototype remains on the property today ("the Cantina"). Khalili went on to form the California Institute for Earth Art and Architecture, Cal-Earth, in Hesperia, CA.1993- Recognizing the transformative potential of clean, solar power and the attractiveness of a rural destination, entrepreneur Mike Nolan worked to develop the Solar Skypark and Big Sky Guest Ranch with Santa Barbara Architect, Barry Berkus. The Sky Park included plans for sixty-five fly-in residences on one-acre lots powered completely from clean, solar energy. The Big Sky Guest Ranch was intended to function as a clubhouse for Skypark residents complete with an equestrian center, a small subsistence farm, pool and plenty of enriching recreational activities. 2012- At the end of 2011, the Zannon Family Foundation made a long-term investment in acquiring the New Cuyama Airport property with the vision of rehabilitating the site to be a low-cost resource for programs and organizations working to advance sustainable living practices and technologies. Plans began soon after towards developing a framework and organization to develop the space and coordinate with prospective programs and institutions. In 2014 Blue Sky Sustainable Living Center ("Blue Sky Center") received 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status, endeavoring to reclaim this property for the public good. -Also please note we are located an hour from the nearest town, no stores or gas stations. Please come fully equipped with your own utensils, cooking essentials, food and beverages. We sell ICE!! $5 per 5lb bag.
We are off grid, there is no electricity, all lights are battery or solar powered. You may want a flashlight or headlamp for walking around at night.

Located in a spectacular mountain setting just 90 miles north of Los Angeles, Pine Mountain Club is a residential community in the Los Padres National Forest. This gambrel cabin was one of the original homes built in PMC in 1976. The 70s vibe is still alive with cork floors, shag rugs, wood paneling, record players, an 8-track player & an orange Malm fireplace.
The space
Our 1970s chalet-style gambrel cabin is located at an altitude of 5500 feet above sea level. Both bedrooms are equipped with organic latex mattresses (queen downstairs, full upstairs) and ROKU smart TVs. There is also a TV with basic cable, a VHS player, and classic video games in the living room downstairs. Upstairs we have a projector for watching movies on a big screen. The kitchen is equipped with a full size refrigerator, oven/stove, Nespresso machine with milk frother, blender, waffle maker and fondue pot. We have board games, puzzles, records, 8-track cassettes, VHS tapes, a projector (for VHS or streaming movies), a guitar, keyboard, and a working fireplace. Towels and linens are provided. The washer and dryer cannot be used by guests, but there is a laundromat in the village and another in Frazier Park.
Keep in mind this is not a hotel, this is a privately owned cabin in the middle of a National Forest. The water may take a little longer to heat up, the electric heaters might smell a little dusty the first time they are turned on after a long summer, spiders might rebuild their webs less than 24 hours after the space is cleaned, there may be dirt on the outdoor furniture, you might need to wear insect repellant in the summer or shovel the driveway and deck in the winter. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is not it, but if you want a fun, comfortable getaway in the mountains, please submit a booking inquiry. You are expected to complete a checkout checklist which includes washing your dishes and putting them away where you found them, making sure all wall heaters are off, etc.

You'll be in walking distance of the PMC Clubhouse which houses a restaurant, bar, recreation room, community swimming pool and hot tub (SUMMER ONLY), tennis courts, and a golf course. If you'd like to use the pool, please send names of all guests so I can register you in advance. There is a fee of $5 per person, per day, for the temporary pool passes to be paid at the pro shop on pickup. We're also close to hiking trails and the village where you'll find the Pine Mountain General Store, Bear Claw Bakery, The Perch, gift shops, and more.
During the WINTER months, there is a chance of snow and/or ice on the roads. You will need 4WD/AWD or tire chains on hand. The CA Highway Patrol is often checking cars before allowing access. You may also need to show confirmation of your reservation. We have a snow shovel on the deck in case you need to shovel the driveway or deck. Parking on the street is not allowed. We've had several guests say they grew up on the East coast and know how to drive in snow, only to comment about the curvy, icy road into the forest which is no joke! Even if you are prepared, someone in front of you might not be, so have warm clothes or blankets in the car, a full tank of gas, and some snacks in case you get stuck.

There is an outdoor security camera on the property.
The cabin is not in the middle of nowhere, we have neighbors on all sides. Please be respectful.
The wi-fi is pretty reliable but as we are in a rural area, it can be slow and it does go out from time to time. If you absolutely must have internet access guaranteed, this may not be the place for you.

Rules
The two overriding rules are 1) Leave the home the way you found it and 2) Respect the privacy and quiet of our neighbors.
- NO SHOES IN THE HOUSE
- Please do not rearrange the furniture. Use coasters on wood surfaces! Be gentle with everything - most items are vintage.
- Basic cleaning up after yourself is expected, including washing your dishes and putting them away.
- Trash and recycling must be taken to the transfer site when you check out.
- We provide a checkout checklist so you remember to turn all heaters off, lock doors and windows, etc.
- Commercial photography/filming is not allowed without permission. Please send details in advance and we will get back to you with the rates for your project.
- No outdoor fires of any kind
- Quiet hours in PMC are 10pm - 7am
- Smoking allowed outside ONLY. Please keep doors and windows closed. If the house smells of smoke after you leave you will lose your deposit to cover the cost of odor removal. Dispose of butts properly - not on the ground.
- Pets are not allowed. We had to change our policy after a bad experience.
- This is a forest, and bears (and other wildlife) are frequently sighted. No food or trash should be left outside the cabin unattended. All doors and windows need to be closed if you're not in the room. There is an air horn in the downstairs bedroom closet, and whistles near the sliding glass door. If you see a bear, make a lot of noise to scare it away.
- Missing items will be deducted from your deposit plus a $50 service fee per item.
- NO fireworks or guns of any kind (including BB and paintball)
- No parking on the street. If you have a RV please contact me in advance to discuss options.
- Any additional guests beyond the number stated in your reservation must be approved in advance.
- Your name and contact information will be shared with the Pine Mountain Club Property Owner's Association, in case of emergency or neighbor complaints.
- You must provide your email address in advance of your stay. Documents will be sent for you to print out.

Our two-story home is located on a quiet street at 5771 feet. Lovely pine ceilings throughout the cabin contribute to the warm ambience. The 1000 sq. ft. interior is furnished in a modern style with a leather sofa and some cool abstract art on the walls. The living room has a wood stove and 50" smart HDTV with direct satellite & Blu Ray DVD. A skylight in the living room brings in lots of light.
The master bedroom (queen bed) is separate from the downstairs and reached via a spiral staircase leading up to French doors. The master bathroom adjoins the bedroom and has a skylight over the double length tiled shower. A second bedroom downstairs has a murphy bed with a queen size mattress. There is air conditioning in the living room as well as in the upstairs bedroom and 2 fans are provided-- although generally temps are not above 85 degrees on a hot day and generally drop into the 60's in the evening.
Upper and lower decks offer lovely views of Mt. Pinos and the San Emigdio range. Relax on the sunny decks or in the Adirondack chair near the pond surrounded by pine trees. Plan to do some bbqing--it is so pleasant to do some grilling on the upper deck bbq and dine outdoors.
Our cabin is clean and well-kept. It can comfortably accommodate 4 people. Please NO smoking or pets!

Weekend Trip to Cuyama Badlands
My partner and I spent Valentine’s Day weekend at the Songdog Ranch in their water tank site. It was very private and the host, Jenny, was extremely accommodating! The site was stocked with an ample amount of firewood, drinking water, kitchen utensils/ cookware and chairs. It was quite cold in the evening, the water tank has a space heater that worked well in keeping the chill at bay. The road to the Hipcamp was extremely bumpy, just a heads up to those in low profile vehicles. We can’t wait to go back in the springtime!

This place far exceeded our expectations! We planned on a nice relaxing weekend and seeing some animals but the amount of animals and the overall scenery in the mountains was incredible. The cabin was very cozy and warm during the chilly evenings and it was so peaceful sitting by the fire or enjoying our coffee outside while admiring the animals. All of the animals were super friendly and overall unaffected by your presence. The staff pretty much left you alone but was very pleasant and informative whenever we crossed paths. They answered any and all questions we had while dropping off carrots, firewood and tending to the animals.

I had a great weekend getaway at Songdog Ranch! My brother and I took our partners to the campsite and stayed in the awesome converted water tank campsite for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Awesome views of the sunrise and sunset each day and nice local exploration of the land made our trip all the better.
As the hosts recommended, as will I, make sure you bring sleeping bags or lots of extra blankets because it was incredibly cold at night (we stayed in the winter). The Songdog Ranch gave us a space heater and free hand warmers at their lovely little store located just down the road which helped but definitely reminded us that a couple blankets was not going to be sufficient.
Overall everyone was incredibly friendly from the owners, to the neighboring campers. I would absolutely return and hope to explore more of the neighboring landscapes. Definitely recommend for a quiet, relaxing, and under appreciated part of CA getaway with the comfort, safety, and independence one looks for when finding a place to stay!
PS - If you’re going “to town” try Jo’s Diner in Taft, CA or the amazing Buckhorn in New Cuyama!

Ricky and Nathan were very personable kind and caring and explained how to operate everything for a seamless and very enjoyable stay . The yurt-like tent was spacious well decorated and warm at night . The outdoor private covered cabana offered a table barbecue cooking facility and all the cookware one could need . Bathroom and shower were private and clean. Outside fire pit surrounded by comfortable chairs .
The views were spectacular. The Terrain which included level as well as gently sloping features
Offered excellent hiking and meditation vistas .
The night sky was filled with billions of stars and morning calm was met with beautiful sounds of the animals waking . We enjoyed petting and visiting the goats ,pigs ,chickens and the roosters.
We look forward to our return and staying for longer.

We had the best stay at Songdog Ranch's Pupdog cabin. The tranquility and quietness of the space was so enjoyable. We spent our days exploring the surrounding nature and hanging out on the deck taking in the sun. Our three dogs also loved it! The new smells and exciting animals kept were so fun for them. The host, Jen, was very accomodating and made our stay feel extra special. We will be back!

The cabin itself was absolutely delightful — cozy, peaceful, thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed, and directly across from a sweet little group of alpacas. The space and scenery felt like an excellent value for the price, and my girls absolutely loved our stay.
We did add on a few extras (carrots for the animals, firewood, and a sauna visit), and while we enjoyed each of these, the communication around them felt a bit unclear. I had to reach out multiple times to coordinate, and we received less firewood than expected close to dark. The sauna was also not ready at our scheduled time, and we weren’t given clear parking instructions — which led to some confusion upon arrival. None of this ruined our stay, but it did make the add-on experience more stressful than anticipated.
Overall, the cabin and location were wonderful, and with clearer communication around the extras, this would easily be a five-star stay.

This was our first hipcamp booking, and we were not disapointed. This was a true "glamping" experience with all the amenities of homesteading (electricity, running water, and an indoor bathroom). It was a great way to disconnect and still experience nature- all while falling asleep to the singing call of coyotes. There are some other options for those that wish to tent camp or RV camp on the property as well. Thank you to Jim & Jen for hosting- your property is beautiful! I hope to be back!

I stayed at the glamp tank with my dog. My stay was perfect. The converted water tank is super cute and unique. The site was clean, very private, and included firewood, chairs, and cookware. It was a windy night, but warmer than expected and I felt cozy without when needing the propane heater that was provided. I met Jen who was very friendly and helpful. I went for a nice long run in Ballinger Canyon in the morning, followed by a cold plunge in the tepid tub, before heading out.

I love backpacking and camping and I am used to sleeping in a tent. My pups love it too! This trip I splurged with Sondog's Glamptank. I have been a regular at Sondog since 2020 and this is my 3rd time in the Glamptank. I was getting away to make some progress on my book. I brought some decorations from home and made my 4 days there very festive. The environment at Songdog is inviting and Jim and Jen always deliver on making my stay special. Love this place! So much so that I call it my home away from home!
