My partner and I loved staying at Cole’s Ranch! Barry is extremely hospitable and organized. All of the amenities he provides were also super clean; we really appreciated the clean bathroom and kitchen area. Highly recommend the tour he provides as well! We ended up booking the hay ride and cow/calf experience and all of their cows were friendly and loved being pet. We’re definitely going to come back again next time!

The RV sites are well laid out, spacious, and flat, next to a lovely pomegranate orchard and near a pleasant river. Barry was extremely friendly and helpful, greeting us when we got there and showing us around the amenities. The boats available for use were great, and the kitchen area provided a place with hot water on demand to do dishes so we didn’t have to heat it up on our stove. My only regret was not bringing fishing gear along; maybe next time, since we will definitely keep this on our list of places to come back to.

What a beautiful property! We had an absolutely lovely time. We were the only ones in the tent camping area so we had the entire place to ourselves and we were able to unplug and truly relax. The kitchen area was perfect for us to wash our dishes, the bathrooms were clean and well lit and my husband especially enjoyed his hot shower under the stars. Groveland is a very cute little town and we enjoyed an afternoon walking around there with our dogs. Robb is wonderful with communication too. We’d definitely stay here again!

The property was quiet, lots of wild life, beautiful trails...and located just outside Stanislaus and Yosemite, places that Rob knows intimately. Hookups worked perfect...we're already scheming a return trip.

Had a very good time and services were great and I felt very welcomed there. Clean showers and lots of space to enjoy relaxing with views of wild turkeys and deer in the mornings and evenings. Wife had one suggestions that the small step-up in the shower on floor have a marker ( maybe paint step yellow ) to prevent trip hazard. Men's side were fine...

Peaceful place to hang out. The kitchen was convenient for cooking at night, the barn hang out for eating and lounging after full days in Yosemite. We stayed 5 nights and drove back and forth to the park. For some that would be too much driving but we liked being out of crowded campsites. No noise and just birds in the morning. Showers were awesome after full days of hiking too.

Headwaters Headquarters- communal inside space for inclement weather or food prep/clean up, sink inside. Info with maps and local wildlife.

3 nights at Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

From the jump Robb was very responsive and accommodating! Came in for the weekend to hike Half Dome and this was the PERFECT place to stay. Close to the park and close to Groveland, whilst still giving the remote and adventurous feeling that the park has to offer. Property was easy to find and navigate. The showers were fantastically warm and the bathrooms were clean. The communal area is a perfect hangout and the little kitchen/prep area was a huge bonus. It was really great to meet Robb as he has tons of knowledge on area and gave us some great tips on navigating the park and alternate hikes. It would seem that Robb is a bit of local celebrity with his Biologist background and passion for Photography - I highly recommend stopping off at Mountain Sage in Groveland to view/purchase some of his phenomenal prints and grab a coffee. (He also has a published nature book!) All in all, great value, great location and perfect for a weekend at the park! I will definitely be returning!

We stayed two nights at this location. Mac and uncle John are great! bathrooms and showers are awesome and super clean. I would recommend this place 110%!!! W used our ground tent, even though we had rooftop tent. You can find new Friends in camping area! Th location is just 30 min away from West gate of NP and 1:20 min to Yosemite village with a tea;;y great scenic drive.

Where to go

River and Creek Arms

The very northern park of Lake Don Pedro is split between the Tuolumne River Arm and the Woods Creek Arm. The developed Moccasin Point Campground is on the eastern end, near highways 120 and 49, and offers tent and RV sites with full hookups, restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and BBQ grills. Dispersed shoreline camping can be found along both the Woods Creek Arm and Tuolumne River Arms, especially toward the extreme ends of the lake.

Upper Bay, Middle Bay, and East Bay

The Upper Bay, East Bay, and Middle Bay make up the central portion of Lake Don Pedro. The Wreck-Bay Boat-in Camp Area sits at the western end of the Upper Bay offering fire rings and vault toilets, while the Graveyard Creek Boat-in Camp Area is near Rock Island in the Middle Bay. Dispersed camping is also available at most of the shoreline in this region.

South Bay and West Bay

The southern end of Don Pedro Reservoir offers the most amenities for campers. At the western end, find tent and RV sites with electricity and water hookups at Blue Oaks Campground, also home to BBQ grills, restrooms, showers, a store, and a dump station. A nearby group campground has space for up to 200 people, and the Fleming Meadows Campground, near the visitor center and dam, also offers campsites with full amenities. Dispersed camping is available in certain actions of the southern and western shorelines.
