We prefer to use products that are produced in a sustainable way and avoid those that aren't. We are continuously reducing the amount of waste we generate and actively promote recycling of aluminum, plastic, glass, and cardboard. We pack our own recycling and haul it to the nearest recycling facility which is an hour away. We co-opt the drive with other activities to reduce waste. We don’t use individually packaged toiletries or one-use products. We use plant and planet friendly detergent. We're based in a desert. We share our precious water with the entire planet. With only 326 million cubic miles of water on the earth, the decreasing amounts of access to quality fresh water is alarming to us. We monitor how we use water in our day-to-day activities and are constantly working on ways to reduce our consumption of fresh-water resources. We hope you can help us maintain this greener camping! The surrounding terrain offers endless activities and unbelievable scenery in remote wilderness settings. Pet Policy All our RV & Tent sites are pet friendly and we allow up to two dogs per reservation for a small fee. We can also accommodate up to two four-legged campers in our pet-friendly Baja or Tatra trailers for a small fee, we ask that they stay off the furniture (beds, sofas etc.) and are not left in the rental unattended. We love dogs, but sadly won’t be able to accommodate heavily shedding pets that aren’t house trained. Additionally, our insurance will not allow "aggressive breeds" that include any mix of: Pit Bull, Rottweiler, Doberman, German Sheppard. Learn more about this land: Your campsite will be nestled among animal enclosures, listen to the munching of hay or the snorting of the horse. Your stay will include a modified animal tour and you can engage with horse, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks and more... dogs and cats of course ;). I have a couple of spots but I would be flexible regarding campsite. My toilet is a compost toilet.  The outside shower has been upgraded with privacy curtains etc following suggetions from previous campers ;) I have a million $$ view and a modest house. My house is about 45 minutes from the Yosemite park entrance and it's an easy commute back/forth. Flowering vines cover my outdoor porches where we have big dinners when Wwoofers or Couchsurfers are in residence. The property is home to many animals, horse, goats, pigs, chickens, peacocks, rabbits, guinea pigs - dogs & cats - of course! :-) . The roosters wake us up pretty early so fair warning about that - but I love living with them and it makes the property so much more friendly with all the critters. My house is pet friendly and yours are welcome if they are 1. Fixed, 2. Are social and friendly with my pets, 3. Will not chase the cats and chickens. I can babysit your pups if you go to the park - provided they are compliant with rules above. I work from home. There are loads of trails nearby and 2 pretty ponds and plenty of wildlife, deer, turkeys and more. The property is rolling hills however there are plenty of flat areas for tents. NO FIRES PERMITTED ANYWHERE ON MY PROPERTY APRIL-OCTOBER - non negotiable.

A 35 minute drive on highway 120 will take you to the Tioga Pass Gate of Yosemite National Park. This gate is a great start to several different areas inside of the park that you may want to visit beyond that gate. Off-road enthusiasts would not have enough time in one visit to explore all of the 4x4 trails, abandoned mines, and sites in the area as well as the famous trail that brings you right to the Bodie Ghost Town. Climate and Ecosystem: At 6,400 feet (1,950 meters), this high desert climate has little to moderate tree coverage and gets hot during the days and cool at night. The conditions are much like Joshua Tree National Park or Alabama Hills camping area. During your visit, you will notice many flying insects that resemble mosquitos. These Chironomid are harmless and do not bite. On the contrary, the mosquito presence is very minimal. Swimming in the lake is possible usually between April to July.

We are continuously reducing the amount of waste we generate and actively promote recycling of aluminum, plastic, glass, and cardboard. We pack our own recycling and haul it to the nearest recycling facility which is an hour away. We co-opt the drive with other activities to reduce waste. My house is about 45 minutes from the Yosemite park entrance and it's an easy commute back/forth. Flowering vines cover my outdoor porches where we have big dinners when Wwoofers or Couchsurfers are in residence. The property is home to many animals, horse, goats, pigs, chickens, peacocks, rabbits, guinea pigs - dogs & cats - of course! :-) . The roosters wake us up pretty early so fair warning about that - but I love living with them and it makes the property so much more friendly with all the critters. My house is pet friendly and yours are welcome if they are 1. Fixed, 2. Are social and friendly with my pets, 3. Will not chase the cats and chickens. I can babysit your pups if you go to the park - provided they are compliant with rules above. I work from home. There are loads of trails nearby and 2 pretty ponds and plenty of wildlife, deer, turkeys and more. The property is rolling hills however there are plenty of flat areas for tents. Climate and Ecosystem: At 6,400 feet (1,950 meters), this high desert climate has little to moderate tree coverage and gets hot during the days and cool at night. The conditions are much like Joshua Tree National Park or Alabama Hills camping area. During your visit, you will notice many flying insects that resemble mosquitos. If you love animals and want to camp near them please join me. Learn more about this land: Your campsite will be nestled among animal enclosures, listen to the munching of hay or the snorting of the horse. Your stay will include a modified animal tour and you can engage with horse, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks and more... dogs and cats of course ;). I have a couple of spots but I would be flexible regarding campsite. My toilet is a compost toilet.  The outside shower has been upgraded with privacy curtains etc following suggetions from previous campers ;) I have a million $$ view and a modest house. My house is about 45 minutes from the Yosemite park entrance and it's an easy commute back/forth. Flowering vines cover my outdoor porches where we have big dinners when Wwoofers or Couchsurfers are in residence. The property is home to many animals, horse, goats, pigs, chickens, peacocks, rabbits, guinea pigs - dogs & cats - of course! :-) . The roosters wake us up pretty early so fair warning about that - but I love living with them and it makes the property so much more friendly with all the critters. My house is pet friendly and yours are welcome if they are 1. Fixed, 2. Are social and friendly with my pets, 3. Will not chase the cats and chickens. I can babysit your pups if you go to the park - provided they are compliant with rules above. I work from home. There are loads of trails nearby and 2 pretty ponds and plenty of wildlife, deer, turkeys and more. The property is rolling hills however there are plenty of flat areas for tents. I was looking for a last minute escape to the mountains to clear my head but didn’t want to deal with a) my own tent or gear, b) a big campground with tons of other people, c) pretentious “glamping” tents, or d) a soulless “cabin” for family reunions. Bonus points for cool design. Liza and Tom’s site was perfect! Tucked up in the woods so it feels remote but easily accessible from the road and just a few minutes drive to cell service and food options. I was in cabin 2 next to a friendly couple in cabin 3, but when I was inside it felt like I was all alone. The A-frame itself is a cool minimalist Scandinavian design, with comfy beds and an incredible floor to ceiling window to watch the sunset and pick out constellations after dark. Outhouse/toilet was comfy, clean and didn’t smell at all. Showers were modern and clean with fresh towels (they’re across the main road so best to drive). I can’t wait to come back for a longer stay!

Britany was very kind and welcoming, the camper is simple and clean (just what I was going for). Plenty of firewood and friendly animals to greet you. The views at night with the stars were beautiful!!! We did stay after a snowstorm so it was cold but bundled up with our own extra blankets and sleeping bags and were cozy! When my group went, it was empty so it was pretty quiet. I think it’s a good area to camp and fish. Everything was clean and the view was beautiful. Slight hiccups with checking in but other than that it was a great first time camping spot for me. The hot springs was a nice touch only being 6 mins away. I’d go again when I learn to fish for trout.

The A-frame cabin was a beautiful, scenic stay within convenient distance from Yosemite. I found it easy to check in, and the hosts provide useful guidance for finding the cabin. Cell service is spotty, so be sure to plan ahead. I found it easy to find, but be aware that you'll want to plan ahead. The view out the cabin window was stunning, and I found all accommodations - bed, desk, lamp, battery, and shower - very comfortable. I will always remember the stars and moonlight.

This land is so very well loved by Shandie. It really is a hidden world from everything else. Not only was Shandie a wonderful host but her land is truly a gift to the heart. The road to the property is mostly paved and ends with gravel with some larger humps and bumps. But was plenty doable with my boat of a sedan with its questionable clearance. Just take it slow for the more nervous of drivers. Musick Cove is smack dab right next to the falls, and even in the late fall, is roaring with life. It's perfectly intimate for two. It's tucked away with plenty of trees and brush for privacy. If you do wander a bit you can see the other sites, one above the falls and Midway Lookout but like I said the brush and trees provide plenty of privacy. It had a charcoal grill and a fire pit for use. I can see maybe two tents fitting in the area but I would say it comfortably fits one much better. Outhouse is not too far from the site and is clean and cared after frequently. Go explore the land! Of course safely and respectfully but so many things to discover just by walking around. So happy to see the lands returning after the Creek Fire. Could not recommend this enough. Will be returning when the snow melts and brings more life to the already beautiful world Shandie and her crew take so much care for.

As a solo traveler (with canine companion) I appreciate good communication with hosts and feeling safe within my camping surroundings. Tom and Liza are thoughtful hosts and Cabin One is charming. It is easily accessible via dirt road with a near-by porta-potty. If you want to feel more remote during your camping experience inquire about cabins two & three (as well as accessibility.) A Yeti full of a generous amount of clean, potable water is provided. I camp with extra warm Rumple-style blankets and hand-heater packets because I get cold easily. I was cozy overnight during my early November stay and enjoyed breakfast in the morning sun at the adjacent picnic table. The photos in the multiple reviews all accurately depict the set-up at the Cabin One sight. Trust the pin & directions to your campsites provided :) I’m looking forward to camping during late-spring/early summer and trying Campsites Two/Three!

Where to go

June Lake Loop

June Lake is just one of four in the loop, which also includes Gull Lake, Silver Lake, and Grant Lake. Situated in Inyo National Forest’s Mono Basin, at the edge of the Ansel Adams Wilderness Area, the eponymous lake is the first in this chain, and one of its most picturesque. Gull Lake beckons anglers, backcountry hikers head to Silver Lake, and motorized water sports are a draw at Grant Lake. Gull and Grant Lakes both have campgrounds.

Mammoth Lakes

Here you’ll find lakes and mountains that are, well, mammoth. How does 11,053 feet sound? Hitch a ride on the Panorama Gondola up to the summit for a bird’s-eye view. This year-round outdoor adventure playground includes a mountain bike park, numerous hiking trails, and recreational snow sports. And don’t miss the Devils Postpile National Monument nearby.

Yosemite National Park

When to go

  • Boat rentals are available at the June Lake Marina, Big Rock Resort, Gull Lake Marina, or Grant Lake Marina.
  • At an altitude of 7,600 feet, June Lake is an active bear area, with a bear-proof locker located at each campsite.
  • Dispersed camping is permitted outside of the June Lake Loop and on many dirt roads in the area.
  • Overnight hikers can access the Pacific Crest Trail and John Muir Trail, Ansel Adams Wilderness, and Yosemite National Park via the Rush Creek Trailhead.
