4 nights at Azalea River
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Jacob's Riverside Gem! It's rustic enough to feel adventurous and homey enough to feel warm and comfy in the winter. It's obvious that Jacob has put a lot of heart and soul into this little cabin because of all the artistic touches you will find throughout. The firewood was well stocked, the property was beautiful with many fresh fungi to observe, and the little kitchen was perfect for making delicious meals. The fridge is quite small with no freezer, so if you want to bring fresh food for cooking, I recommend bringing a cooler. The shower is not far from the cabin, so it's easy to get a hot shower in and run back inside to the warm cabin. Make sure to bring your own bath towel. The bathroom is farther from the cabin, but I enjoyed the walk there, especially at night when I could look at the stars.
We didn't get to enjoy the outdoor space very much, seeing as we visited in winter, but we definitely want to come back in the summer to enjoy all that this little cabin and the Smith River area has to offer. If you're looking for a quaint place to stay while adventuring in the area, you've found the right place!

I absolutely love this Hipcamp! It's so private (you have your own driveway and gate) and feels very safe. Surrounded by trees and farmland. Lots of cute little amenities to enjoy while there. The ground is level enough that you can just pull right in and set up. The host is very kind and responsive. Also, I think there's an owl that lives here, and he was a joy to listen to. Highly recommend.

Coastal Forest Farm Camp is a wonderful spot with really great hosts. Nestled not far from the ocean (an easy bike ride), the Redwoods and Crescent City it was a wonderful base camp for a lot of exploration, hiking and relaxation. It was exactly what my wife and I were hoping for as the last camp trip of the season. We highly recommend.

Well appointed private area. Nice to have a picnic table and a trash can. We only saw three cows somewhat close to the fence as they chomped. Luckily, the roosters didn’t start their cockle-doodle-doing until 7am. 🤣 My only negative comment was that the site is right by the road so we could hear traffic until 9pm. Very close to the Redwoods (which was our main reason for coming to this area) and close to the dunes/beach. Great HipCamp for people with children and dogs.

1 night at Azalea River
Jacob has really put in a labor of love on this land to help his guests, rest, reset and connect. Being able to take a shower outside and hike down and wade the waters of the river was unbelievable. It rained most of the time I was there so I didn't get to take advantage of the river much but the cabin was a cozy safe haven to cook dinner and brew my morning coffee in. I loved that I could camp there and then drive 25minutes and be hiking in the Jedidiah Smith Redwoods area. Close enough off the 101 you can really use it as a stop like I did however I can see how staying longer would mean even more glory along the river.
The cons are I found some metal scraps and screws on the ground walking around; just beware if you have kiddos. The hike down is well designed but it's definitely moderate and can be slippery. The ladder up the bed is not for the faint of heart!

Dreamy secluded spot on a stunning river edge. Simple unique cabin with everything you need to relax and unwind. We spent the entirety of our stay floating in the gorgeous Smith river and didn’t see one other person. Easy to get to but very hard to leave. It really was perfect. Thank you for having us and we hope to be back! Highly recommend.

Especially nice if you have dogs with fenced area and gate. Site is next to road thus some traffic noise but pretty quiet at night. Roosters at the crack of dawn. Was surprised by the substantial increase in cost which my alter our plans in the future.

This place truly is a Gem!! Loved being in nature and right on the Smith River and still having creature comforts like lights, cooking equipment, fridge, super comfy bed and a hot shower! This place is perfect for anyone seeking a cozy glamping experience :) The river really was the best part for me, I swam in it multiple times every day, the swimming spot is so perfect. Bring water shoes/Tevas, something of the soft if your feet are sensitive with rocks like mine are and you’ll be super comfy walking down to and into the water. Location is a great home base for Redwoods, Crescent City and Brookings, so many awesome hikes within a short drive. Looking forward to coming back and staying again! 11 out of 10!

Such a great gem and helpful host! I just needed a safe and secure place to hang with my dogs where I could close the gate and disappear. This place was perfect. The lil studio was clean and comfy, and the swimming hole/river access at the bottom of the hill was perfectly isolated to give me the space and time I needed to slowly introduce my dogs to water activities. I definitely recommend!

Absolutely primo private river spot. We stayed down there til dark and then watched the bats hunt. My only gripe is it’s quite hot upstairs for sleeping. A fan would have really helped. Also a sheet to put down on the futon because it was too hot to sleep on a blanket. Really cute little place!

Fantastic private camping site! Fully fenced in with plenty of room, trees, great fire pit, 3-min drive from Kellogg beach which our dog loved, and only neighbors were the friendliest Highland cows ever! Loved feeding them berries.

An excellent site and a very nice stay. Great privacy with a ton of space to maneuver the RV, and some really thoughtful touches like extra oil refills for the bug repellant candle and local recommendations. My boys loved making new cow friends, and I loved the firewood that was ready to go as soon as we pulled in.

Nice and pretty swimming hole, place had just enough amenities to make it comfy and easy. Good location, close to redwoods and the coast. There is a lot of traffic noise-- I camped in the clearing above the cabin. I was surprised to pay extra to bring a dog, but maybe that's typical for HipCamp? Jacob was kind and easy to communicate with. Thank you!

My family stayed here for two nights and truly enjoyed the experience. The queen sized bed in the loft was really comfortable and my son said the futon was nice, as well. The kitchen had all the essentials, but I would recommend a cooler for food and drink overflow. The mini fridge works well, but is tiny. The home runs on solar power so don't plan on plugging in tons of stuff for long... but being unplugged is what we wanted. The house cools off nicely in the evening with the windows open and there is plenty of shade in the yard, which includes a hammock and picnic table. The highway is on the other side of the river and produces some road noise but the sound of the river helps to drown it out. The privacy is by far this gems best feature. Not a soul in sight! The yard is fully fenced, as well, for the fur babies. The trail to the river was steeper than anticipated, so we quickly learned to wear something besides flip-flops for an easier climb back up. It is the perfect private swimming hole if you dare the cold water, which we did! We had the best time swimming, skipping rocks, and looking for all kinds of little creatures like frogs, lizards, and crayfish. We even saw a bald eagle fly down! There are also a couple of small fruit trees on the property and we tried what was probably the best plum known to anyone ever. Thank you for sharing your tiny home, Jacob!
