There are no commercial or industrial areas on the Ranch. In 2005, I started looking for land in the Shasta area after falling in love with the Mountain and it's surrounding lakes. I have always known exactly what the land I would spend time on would look like. One day, in 2006, I was driving on the Hammond Ranch, again hoping I would find that place. I was driving my van, with my 2 kids and some of our friends, through a heavily wooded area. I made a left turn down a dusty dirt road and Eureka! I had found IT. I was at the top of a 60 acre meadow that had a full unobstructed view of Mt. Shasta, encircled by lenticular clouds. I told a friend of mine, who was at the time a realtor in the Shasta area, that I had found a piece of land that looks perfect to me. If, that is, it also had a creek on it. She did some searching around and found out that the land that is now Shasta View was in fact for sale. And, it had a creek on it. And it was comprised of some acreage in the meadow and some in the trees. This was everything I had wanted. I bought the land within the next 2 weeks. After camping on the land a few times, I started to understand where the best sites would be to build some structures. Because the meadow always has a certain amount of moisture to the ground, it is not suitable for building a structure. The good thing about that, is that nobody who owns land in that meadow will ever build there. We will only be looking at Mt. Shasta from that meadow. Never a building. The platform I built in the meadow offers on a chance to sleep under the stars. Billions of them. My property is only one of two that have old, large Cedar and Pine trees on it. It made perfect sense that I would be building a small house in those trees. While camping on this land, you will find exquisite beauty and solitude. Within 30 minutes, you will find Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake for some of the finest swimming around. If you fish, the McCloud and the Sacramento rivers offer some of the best trout fishing in the state. There are two “Blue Ribbon” designated streams. The first is Upper Sacramento River. It starts as a trickle from the melting snows of Mt Shasta and by the time it reaches the area around the town of Dunsmuir which is just south of Shasta City, it is a true “Blue Ribbon” designated trout stream. The place to find all the ins and outs of fly fishing in this area is at the Ted Fay Fly Fishing shop in Dunsmuir. The second “Blue Ribbon” trout fishing is on the McCloud River. Historically some of the best trout fishing to be found. I have fished both these streams and always caught fish. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING IF YOU'LL BE SLEEPING IN THE TREEHOUSE. And need I say anything about hiking on Mt. Shasta?

I had a wonderful time at One Thing Ranch with Nancy! The airstream was comfortable with plentiful amenities. The kitchen was fully stocked, the heater worked, and the space was spacious for sleeping and working. The animals were so fun; I got to meet each of them and give them snacks :). This is a lovely getaway in a beautiful zone of California. I enjoyed exploring the area and spending time on the property. Thank you for having me!

Weekend Trip to Bigfoot Lodging Vacation Rentals

BigFoot Lodging campground is a beautiful little hidden gem. With healthy tall pinetrees there is shade and beauty at each site. Sites are wide with plenty of room for a tent if someone in your crew doesn't want to sleep in the RV (our daughter!). Picnic table at each site. Fire pits, although there are no grates over the fire pits in case you wanted to cook that way. GORGEOUS little waterfall 5 min walk from the camping sites. Helpful hosts. Small store with all those little things you forgot. Firewood available for $10 per bundle, cheaper than the convenience store or the dollar store in Shingletown. It's just a really pretty little campground that we will definitely be returning to!

The cabin is super clean and at a very cheap price. We ended up extending our stay. Very close to miles of trails in the Mount Shasta area and restaurants nearby if you want to dine out. And the owner is very sweet and easy to contact if you have any questions or concerns. Highly recommend.

Lucas received us when we arrived at the camp site. He showed us around, had water for washing dishes and potable water ready. Camping among the apple trees under a starry night was beautiful. If you are riding a motorcycle, be aware that the road within the property is packed gravel.

Beautiful land with obviously great views. The treehouse is surrounded by, well . . . trees, with a door and porch looking out onto a meadow. Sitting on the porch with some coffee in the morning was perfect. Much of the road back to the property is flat gravel but the last part is a really rocky, bumpy road. Drive slowly and carefully and reconsider any vehicle with minimal clearance.

Weekend Trip to One Thing Ranch - Alpacas & Llamas

We just had another incredible stay at One Thing Ranch with the exceptional host, Nancy. This time, we introduced some close friends to this hidden gem. Nancy's hospitality was outstanding from the moment we arrived. She had the AC in the Silver Streamer camper already going to welcome us. The amenities are always thoughtful and complete; this visit, she had even added bug spray, nuts, and a hammock for our use. Each morning, Nancy greeted us and has coffee and tea avaliable add day, then took us on a tour to feed the farm's cute animals. She also provides filtered water and countless other little touches that make a stay here special. We always feel safe and completely welcome here. One Thing Ranch is our absolute go-to, and we won't stay anywhere else in the area. It's the perfect spot for families, groups of friends, or a solo retreat. The location is ideal for exploring local attractions like the caves, Shasta Lake, and Burney Falls.

This was my second time staying at Shasta View and it is such a special place! Very comfortable, and beautiful spots to camp. It is an extremely short walk to the meadow where the mountain is (1 minute), and it is such an incredible view. Plenty of shade in over 90 degree weather for us. The camp kitchen is well equipped and spacious - we loved the sinks for dishwashing. The stream water was clean, cool and refreshing on hot days as well. Feels like you are pretty removed from civilization but town is only 20 minutes away and it is a maximum of 35 minutes to all main attractions around Shasta. Directions were a bit confusing but we all found it and had a great group trip!

Friendly host with helpful kids! The site was well-kept, quiet, and had nice amenities like a camp store and large bathroom/shower combos. Only 20 minutes to Lassen Volcanic National Park made it the perfect base for us!
