Slide Ranch is a nonprofit organization established in 1970, becoming one of the first Park Partners in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Slide Ranch is located on the Marin coast, on land that has a rich history in connecting people to food. The Coast Miwok once fished and foraged for food at this site, and in the late 19th century Portuguese dairy farmers purchased the land and produced milk and butter for residents of San Francisco. In 1969, 134 acres of this fertile coastline were rescued from commercial development. Slide Ranch camping fees directly fund scholarships for youth programs throughout the year. Slide Ranch is an unpaved ranch environment. Our trails and garden paths all consist of uneven, sloping terrain, often muddy or soft ground during the winter season, and may be challenging to access for visitors with significant mobility restrictions. Minors aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. No pets allowed; service animals are permitted. We do not have showering facilities or flush toilets. Water in all Slide Ranch taps is potable for refilling water bottles/jugs. Soap is provided for hand washing. Slide Ranch does not have any concessions on site. Camping is not supported by the on-site staff. Per current GGNRA regulations, campfires and open flames of any kind are not allowed.

We are conveniently located off of US 101, therefore there may be some freeway noise, during commute hours especially. It has become like white noise to me, but it is only fair to mention it. We offer full hookups which consists of 50 amp & 110 volt electrical outlets, potable water, sewage dump. We also have one pigtail available (with a refundable deposit) if needed to convert 50 amp to 30 amp. We also have one place in the middle of our big vineyards with a 30 amp and water only. No sewer. Our sites are located one mile from Healdsburg plaza, the heart of Sonoma County Wine Country. Our town offers amazing wineries, fantastic restaurants, and quaint shops. It is an excellent place for wine lovers. There is a pre-prohibition winery right across the road called Foppiano. There are many other fabulous wineries are nearby. Ask the host for discount passes or complimentary tasting cards for some of the local wineries. We are in an excellent location for outdoor adventurers. There are plenty of hiking trails near by as well as bike rental shops for those who enjoy trekking, and even a couple of rafting places right here on the Russian River. We are close to places like Armstrong Woods, Safari West, Getaway Adventures, The Sonoma County Fairgrounds which hosts the Summer Country Concerts among other events, Harmony Festival, Santa Rosa Full Camp; Half Marathons Camp; 5K, Sonoma Zip-line Adventures, and Much More! Weekend Trip to Delta Respite

I had a wonderful stay here. The silence, stars, multitude of birds (including Sandhill Cranes!), water, and joyful farm animals were restorative for my soul. The rustic and charming cabin was delightful with a window view of splendid sunsets, cool art and stylistic decor, an efficient heater, and a spacious bathtub. The hosts were gracious, responsive, welcoming, and thoughtful; they went above and beyond in making sure my stay went well.

1 night at Slide Ranch

I was the only camper! I weathered 3 hours of rain and wind to spend a night on Quail Hill. By 5 pm it had cleared and the morning was absolutely clear, calm and blue. I hiked all the trails and liked the Muir Beach Overlook, 1.4 miles. It's a gradual up with memorable views of the coast and ocean the whole way. Tent #1 held up in the wind, had two cots and two camp chairs. Spectacular views and the sound of the ocean all night. 5 minutes from the parking lot, downhill and then up a short steep path. It felt private. Loved it.

Weekend Trip to Estero San Antonio Wonderland

What a lovely place. It was so quiet. When it was clear, there were lots of stars out. The place is really charming, rustic, sweet. We had an awesome fire three nights in a row. It is so close to Point Reyes with all kinds of great hiking. One day we paddled our kayaks right from our site for several miles on the estuary. We saw river otter, great blue heron, and all kinds of other birds. The hosts were kind and very responsive.

Weekend Trip to Delta Respite

Ceci and Steve were so warm and accommodating for my dog and I last minute. I couldn't have imagined a better place to reset. This was my first time using hipcamp. I was set on finding a cozy inn to retreat to for the weekend and get somewriting done. Of course everything was booked or insanely expensive so I turned to hipcamp and I truly couldn't have planned it better. The cabin had everything I needed to be comfortable. You could really tell that so much thought went into every little detail. From the clawfoot tub, to porch with the little fenced in yard. Every light was on a dimmer! I was so charmed by this as someone who works with light a lot (photographer) and love creating ambiance! Clearly they poured their hearts into creating such an amazing space. I kept joking to my friends the cabin was like a storybook and I felt like I was the Celestial Seasons Bear. They were both so sweet to my dog Beaux and we had lots of nice walks around the property and beyond. Only downside was it was a bit muggy and buggy at times so definitely prepare if you're sensitive to mosquitos or other critters. This was no fault of Ceci & Steve's and to be expected when visiting the Delta! Oh, and there really were so many amazing birds to view and the sound of birdsong and coyotes throughout the day and night. The whole experience was so dreamy and relaxing and I definitely want to go back!

6 nights at Delta Respite

I had such a restorative, restful time at Steve and Ceci’s beautiful cabin on their farm on Sherman Island. I had been worried that it was too close to civilization to give me the peace and quiet I was looking for but this couldn’t have been further from the truth. While the cabin was close enough to town to meet with friends in Walnut Creek or get supplies, it was far enough away to feel worlds away from San Francisco. Steve and Ceci were consummate hosts, providing everything I needed from additional firewood for the fire pit (and accompanying fire building assistance!) to bottled water. The clawfoot tub with bath salts was a particularly lovely touch but the cabin was extremely comfortable and well-appointed. My dog absolutely adored staying here, and was able to roam the large property that was completely fenced in, meeting the farm dogs and the chickens. There is even a hammock and a comfortable lounge chair to do some reading in the shade. What more could you ask for?

Joelle's land is a truly wild nature gem 💎🌳, and we felt so lucky to have this entire slice of paradise to ourselves. The best part was the privacy—the whole place was ours 🙌, offering a perfect, immersive escape into nature 🌲. Joelle has thought of everything you could possibly need. We were pleasantly surprised by how well-equipped the site was; we even found a wine opener 🍷 which absolutely saved our night! While this isn't a hotel and you should come prepared to be surrounded by nature 🏕️, you'll find everything you need for a comfortable stay. A major highlight was the convenience to local gems. The Hartford Family Winery is a quick 5-minute drive 🍇🚗 away, and their wine tasting was incredible. On our last day, we had a fantastic, lazy 5-hour boat trip downriver to Guerneville ☀️😎. Joelle was an exceptionally generous and welcoming host 💖—she even handled our logistics, taking care of our drop-off after we drove our car to Guerneville. We wish Joelle all the best and hope to see her dreams of building the tree houses 🏡✨ and all her other projects come to reality! This is an absolute must-book for anyone looking for a unique, wild, and fully supported camping adventure! ⭐️

Slide ranch is perfectly situated near SF on the coast. Beautiful views, great hikes nearby. Loved seeing some of the ranch animals. Highway 1 is a touch closer than ideal, and you can hear some traffic noise, but overall great spot. We’ll definitely be back!

Loved our stay! Absolutely stunning view! Easy to get to, clean, comfortable, kids (3 and 4) loved it so much. Hammocks were lovely. The area that we booked on the lower tier was spacious, and it's arranged such that there was only one other group on our tier at the far end near the trail down to the river. A third group was on the upper tier separately by trees, and a fourth group was situated on the island.

4 nights at Estero San Antonio Wonderland

Private campsite surrounded by blackberry bushes. The fire pit, outdoor shower, and compost toilet made for a genuine camping experience. The camper was comfortable inside and had perks like a nice bed, cookware, space heater, books, puzzles, and more.

1 night at Delta Respite

Delta Respite is exactly what I needed. Ceci & Steve greet you when you arrive to explain things. Wonderful warm hearted folks who made me feel so welcomed. I’m an avid kayaker & birder and this certainly checked all the boxes. Be sure to have coffee on the hill in the morning. Great spot to greet the day! I will return to this special place.
