Even though Deep Creek has never had any known cases of amoeba outbreaks, be advised that the warm waters around hot springs can carry a sometimes fatal amoeba.
*Although children are permitted at most sites on the property (children are not permitted at the cabin or spring pool sites), we do not recommend bringing them due to occasional nudity that may be seen in the area and the degree of difficulty for the hike. There is only one way to access the site, so please follow the provided directions carefully. GPS may lead you to a route that is not vehicle-accessible. You will drive through a residential neighborhood before entering the forest property — please drive slowly and respectfully.

Please pack out all trash. We do not provide bins to avoid attracting animals or scattering debris in the wind.
Important: You must have a self-contained toilet system and pack out all waste.
A 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended, but standard cars and RVs up to 30 feet can access the site by driving slowly. Low-clearance sedans can also make it with care. Please know your vehicle’s limits.
Parking is available directly on the campsite, leading up the driveway.

The camp is less than two hours from Los Angeles and Orange County and only 2.5 miles from the West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, as well as Covington Flats and Black Rock hiking and day-use areas. It is also conveniently located between the towns of Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley, with access to off-road recreation areas such as Johnson Valley OHV.
The land is home to native Joshua trees, cactus, and seasonal wildflowers, with views of rocky foothills to the south and open desert valleys to the north and east. Wildlife sightings may include jackrabbits, quail, hawks, kangaroo rats, snakes, and coyotes.

Bordering the 40 acres, our “neighbors” are three large empty lots and government land with no structures.
We are located at the base of Copper Mountain.
The soil here is very special. It has a magical mixture of inorganic materials, like crystals and metals, that have eroded down from Copper Mountain, mixed in a matrix of organic material, like grasses that have been made into a fine powder. The result is a natural landscape of orgone generating dirt. You can feel the energy here.
There are plenty of dirt roads around the property for casual strolls and mountain biking... or take a short climb up the sandy incline at the back of the property and panoramic views of Joshua Tree await.
This listing is not for the inexperienced camper! Please pack in, pack out all your trash and leave no trace besides footsteps.
You will have access to a 12 foot (!!) handcrafted solid wood picnic table, handmade stone fire ring and brand new 24x12 foot wooden deck.
VERY IMPORTANT: You must have a self-contained toilet system. Please pack out all your own waste. You will also need to bring your own WATER. Thank you!
4-wheel drive highly recommended but regular cars, RVs, Airstreams have previously gotten to PRIVATE 40 by taking it slow and easy with extra care. If you do get stuck (it NEVER happened before, but just in case)... you will need to call your own towing company. So please be mindful and understand your vehicle's limits.
Wake at dawn to see the jackrabbits and listen to the coyotes howl as you fall asleep. Baby quail all in a line may entertain you. The starry nights are glorious here with clear skies most of the time and a lot less light pollution in the desert compared to the cities. Also, we have no surrounding street lamps!
Most will find they have good cell service at our location.
#NoPowerLines at our property makes for a real wilderness feel, even though we are very close to nearby points of interest.
We are VERY centrally located for maximum enjoyment of the surrounding areas.

The land is home to native Joshua trees, cactus, and seasonal wildflowers, with views of rocky foothills to the south and open desert valleys to the north and east. Wildlife sightings may include jackrabbits, quail, hawks, kangaroo rats, snakes, and coyotes.

We are located at the base of Copper Mountain.
The soil here is very special. It has a magical mixture of inorganic materials, like crystals and metals, that have eroded down from Copper Mountain, mixed in a matrix of organic material, like grasses that have been made into a fine powder. The result is a natural landscape of orgone generating dirt. You can feel the energy here.
There are plenty of dirt roads around the property for casual strolls and mountain biking... or take a short climb up the sandy incline at the back of the property and panoramic views of Joshua Tree await.
This listing is not for the inexperienced camper! Please pack in, pack out all your trash and leave no trace besides footsteps.
You will have access to a 12 foot (!!) handcrafted solid wood picnic table, handmade stone fire ring and brand new 24x12 foot wooden deck.
VERY IMPORTANT: You must have a self-contained toilet system. Please pack out all your own waste. You will also need to bring your own WATER. Thank you!
4-wheel drive highly recommended but regular cars, RVs, Airstreams have previously gotten to PRIVATE 40 by taking it slow and easy with extra care. If you do get stuck (it NEVER happened before, but just in case)... you will need to call your own towing company. So please be mindful and understand your vehicle's limits.
Wake at dawn to see the jackrabbits and listen to the coyotes howl as you fall asleep. Baby quail all in a line may entertain you. The starry nights are glorious here with clear skies most of the time and a lot less light pollution in the desert compared to the cities. Also, we have no surrounding street lamps!
Most will find they have good cell service at our location.
#NoPowerLines at our property makes for a real wilderness feel, even though we are very close to nearby points of interest.
We are VERY centrally located for maximum enjoyment of the surrounding areas.

This was our second visit, and once again it delivered exactly what we were looking for. It’s an ideal escape from the city—peaceful, unhurried, and deeply calming. The night sky was absolutely stunning, with stars so bright it felt like they were falling from the sky. It was a special experience to share this kind of quiet beauty with my 10 years old daughter.
The host clearly takes pride in the property. The trailers and restrooms were exceptionally clean and thoughtfully maintained, which made the stay comfortable and stress-free. That level of care really stands out and makes a big difference, especially when camping with your special one.
One important note for future visitors: be cautious on the unpaved access road. Our car got stuck in loose sand(I think its because we went right after heavy rain), and we were only able to get out thanks to help from neighbor of the property. "Special thanks to Papa Joe!"
When driving in, stick to the firmer, compact-looking sections of the road and avoid areas where sand has built up.
Overall, this is a beautiful, peaceful place and absolutely worth returning to—with just a bit of extra attention when navigating the road in.

2 nights at JT High desert Hideout
Janna’s place was perfect for a couple glamping nights close to Joshua Tree National Park. We stayed in the big yurt which was in the most private corner of the property. Bed was comfy and came with plenty of blankets to keep warm in the cold nights.

It was a great experience, the view was very nice. I only wish the trees weren’t blocking it as much. Also the dirt road up there is very tight and narrow. It’d be a good idea to have a vehicle with higher ground clearance and good traction on tires. I aired down my tires on the way down and it was way smoother. But I would recommend, Vicki was very nice and welcoming. Only regret is I didn’t get to meet the pig up close.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at the Rustic A-Frame. Ken was an amazing host and his attention to detail made our stay a perfect glamping experience. Site has beautiful views- of both the stars and the mountains! Super convenient location too, with Cleveland National Forest and Anza-Borrego SP easily accessible. Would definitely stay again!

The welcoming presence of Vicki and her staff was memorable.
Appreciated the small things:

- clean facilities to wash up in.
This space is perfect for a car/tent camping trip, very nice views of sunrise/set, and convenient proximity to Palomar County Park. Reading up and speaking with Vicki, very interesting history to this ancient land as well, please check it out!

I appreciated the privacy at David's camp. While it isn't a location for uninterrupted quietude, I found the noises of the area to be mostly unobtrusive. An ATV may rip through the vicinity later in the evening or night. That being said, I would visit again. It's a really beautiful setting. The sturdy table and fire ring make it feel like home.

Weekend Trip to Granite Mountain
I stayed in the eagles nest (site 3) cabin over the weekend and had an absolutely wonderful experience. It’s a very cute spot both beautiful and cozy and offers the perfect balance of comfort with a true glamping feel. The cabin was thoughtfully equipped with everything needed for a relaxing stay.
The views were breathtaking, and at night the sky was incredibly clear, allowing us to see so many stars. One of my favorite moments was having breakfast outside with a cup of coffee while taking in the peaceful surroundings and fresh air it felt calm and restorative.
The host was great: communication was easy, directions were clear, and everything from check-in to the stay itself was smooth and stress-free. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing escape in nature without sacrificing comfort.
It’s fur baby friendly: My pup had such a wonderful time. I truly enjoyed my trip and will be making a second trip.
