Important: This is a remote, unlit desert property. Arrival before dark is strongly recommended unless you are already familiar with the area. This is an intentionally off-grid, private desert retreat for guests who value space, silence, dark skies, and solitude. You are renting the entire 40-acre property — there is only one campsite, and it is exclusively yours. There are no toilets, no water, no electricity, and no artificial lighting. This is a self-contained desert experience, not a campground. What is here: A large handcrafted wooden deck A handmade stone fire ring A 12-foot solid wood picnic table Exceptional stargazing with minimal light pollution Forty acres of private desert bordered by empty parcels and public land This property is best suited for experienced campers, vanlifers, RVs, Airstreams, and tent campers who are comfortable navigating dirt roads and practicing Leave No Trace ethics. It is not suitable for first-time campers or guests seeking amenities or on-site assistance. Off-leash dogs are welcome. Please clean up after them so this policy can remain in place. Guests must bring their own water, use a self-contained toilet system (pack out all waste), and pack out all trash. Desert conditions change rapidly — wind, heat, and cold are all possible. Four-wheel drive is recommended, though many standard vehicles and RVs have accessed the property by driving slowly and carefully. If a vehicle becomes stuck, guests are responsible for arranging their own towing. This is unfenced private land bordering public Bureau of Land Management (BLM) areas. On rare occasions, someone may mistakenly pass through assuming the land is public. This has always been resolved easily by letting them know they are on private property. Located at the base of Copper Mountain, the property offers wildlife sightings, panoramic views, and generally good cell service despite the remote feel. Drive times: Hwy 62 (8 min), Downtown Joshua Tree & Farmers Market (11 min), Joshua Tree National Park entrance (19 min), Indian Cove (16 min), Pioneertown (29 min). If you are seeking a quiet, expansive, off-grid desert retreat, this land offers something increasingly rare. — Amanda & MarioThere is only one site on this property, and it is entirely yours. This is such an awesome spot! It was a pretty busy weekend and there were lots of people on BLM land, but we had so much space to ourselves! We had such a blast watching the off-roading up and down the mountain.

My family had a great time camping here. It was awesome being secluded and having so much space to ourselves, but nice to be close enough to town if we needed any supplies. There are others camping in the distance on BLM land and you can hear people riding ATV’s in the background, but it was not a bother at all. Having the deck was really nice, as well as the picnic table. We also made good use of the fireplace. We will definitely come back.

Location and hosts were amazing. I was looking for a place to get away from it all for a few days and this was a perfect fit. Any vehicle can get there. The sand is compacted enough. I pulled a 21’ travel trailer to the location with no issues. You do have BLM areas nearby but noise levels were low and at night no noise at all. You have an occasional person “lost” drive by but a non-issue. Plan on camping there again, it was an oasis for me and the dogs.

I've been to this Hipcamp several times and it never disappoints. I go there with my dog to hike. It's also great to star gaze on the beautiful deck. If you're planning a trip to JT I would highly recommend.

We loved camping on Amanda and Mario’s property. We started our week off by checking out the Famers market in Joshua Tree and grabbing lunch in town. The instructions to find the property were very easy to follow and both Amanda and Mario responded quickly to our questions. The sun set views were gorgeous, and the star gazing was insane! Having the long picnic table and yoga platform was such a nice amenity to have during our stay. We would love to go back again and share the spot with friends!

This was a really good site. It so quiet and perfect for the weekend. Loved the platform so we could set up chairs on it. Would recommend to people that like to be secluded.

Great open space. Was many ATV's around us but didn't really bother us. Noise was off in distance. Star gazing was amazing. One thing I would recommend is adding to directions when following coordinates when coming to fence go to the right of the fenced in area. Our GPS coordinates wanted to put to the left of fence.

I've been here several times with my GSD. It was reasonably quiet (next to BLM land). And is private. Perfect environment to teach recall and get out that pent up energy. Hiking for as long as you desire.Your dog will be tired physically and mentally by the end of your stay.

We really enjoyed our time on Amanda and Mario’s desert retreat. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets in a wide open space. We had no issue following the driving directions and finding the camp site.

This my Go to Hipcamp for Joshua Tree. This is my 3rd time and it doesn't disappoint. If you like to hike and have a dog this area is awesome and trails ho on forever. Really no reason to go to Joshua Tree where dogs need to be on leash and not allowed on most trails.

This is a great remote spot. Loved being away from other campers. The site is well maintained and level. The hosts were awesome. We ended up arriving after dark and they were very helpful in helping us find the site. The hosts encourage you to arrive during daylight - we second this! We will definitely stay again.

I was sad to leave this hipcamp! A wonderful spot. I came with my GSD to refine some training, and do some hiking off leash. He loved it, and I loved it. Highly recommend if you want to let your dog be a dog. Beware, it's the desert and there is some debris of all sorts. Also, if your dog is not accustomed to this terrain you might consider boots.

I rented this spot for a camping relay race event and it was amazing! Amanda and Mario were very accomiding and had experiance with large groups on their land before. That made everything easy and smooth. The plot of land is massive and had tons of space for parking (which we had 25 cars and 1 RV) and all the tents people were sleeping in! The stars are incredible at night and everyone had a blast! 45 people running and partying in the desert was such a smash. Can't wait to do it again next year!

This is such a great spot. if you're going to be out there for a full day you need to have sunscreen and something to give you shade. The night sky is amazing and worth the scorch of the dry windy day. I definitely recommend hiking to the top of Copper mt, amazing views.

We loved this site! Beautiful and far from BLM campers. A bit tricky to find but the instructions were as clear as possible. We came during a full moon so stars were hard to see but I imagine during a new moon this spot would be spectacular for star gazing.

We loved camping at this private desert site with a view of the mountains. The hosts were very communicative and accommodating. The only slight negative is that we arrived after dark, and the directions were challenging to follow with no lights or signs, for example, "drive 1/2 mile past the pavement and turn East at the fence." We would stay here again.

What a special place - highly recommend. We stayed at site 4 and it felt private + the view was insanely gorgeous. The toilets were clean, a trash can was available and the family was absolutely lovely. I feel so privileged to have stayed here! Thank you for sharing your land with us. ♥️

A great spot for camping and relaxing outside of Joshua Tree National Park. Directions to the site were clear and got us there easily. The campsite was clean and well marked and I loved having a picnic table. The dogs loved lounging on the deck too. There is BLM nearby, so expect some noise, but it wasn't bad. Took us 20 minutes to get into the park from the site. Was a great, relaxing site and we'll probably use it again the next time we're in the area.

The site was great, clean and the road was in good shape if you just hug the neighbors fence line. The platform was great for a solstice yoga session and star gazing on the full moon. Thank you for hosting, I will definitely stay again!

After spending weeks camping out on the desert dust and dirt, the large deck was a very welcomed luxury to relax on for a few days. Deck lined up in height perfectly with our 20' Airstream.

Amanda and Mario were so nice. This spot is wonderful and in a good location yet far enough out for a little isolation. Don't try to find it at night, it's difficult. Also there were some campers there who thought it was blm land but were cool and moved. Amanda and Mario gave me an additional night for that without even asking. Highly recommended, I really enjoyed my stay.
