This was originally a Girl Scout camp called Singing Pines back in the 30’s. You’ll see as you roam around some of the original buildings and structures. It hasn’t been in operation as a Girl Scout camp for over 30 years. The bigger building is an Airbnb for groups. They will also have access to the lake.
DIRECTIONS:
Take Exit for Angeles Crest Hwy (Hwy 2) from the 210
Go North, up the mountain for 29 miles
Turn left on Sulpher Springs Rd
Go about a mile and you will see a Singing Pines sign up on a hill on the right side.
There is a white gate which is usually open but if it's closed go ahead and open it.
Go down that driveway about a mile and turn left at the fork.
Follow that road down and around the lake staying to the right. Once you passed the lake there will be a little uphill and the location is on the left.

The Skoolie is a converted short bus with two love seats that convert to an RV queen bed, sink, stove top, dinette, and over head lights. Outside is a private meadow with a short walk to a small lake. You can bring your fishing gear. It's stocked with Bass and Bluegill. Outside the Skoolie is a picnic table, fire pit (firewood $10 a bundle) and a hammock. Up the hill, a very short walk is the private campground toilet facility. This is not shared with anyone else.
No cell phone reception no linens bring a sleeping bag or warm blankets. You can charge your phone in the Skoolie for a sunrise alarm or just to take pictures.

Although Morgan(the owner) has retired, he's made his property to feel as if you're in the middle of the woods complete with swimming hole, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, sauna and more!
Our trailer and cave shower entrance are on the smaller size and may not be comfortable for larger bodied individuals.

Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Our temperatures rarely exceed 90F and rarely drop below 40F. We have plenty sun and about two to three days of snow every winter. From the tent campsite, you look out for 20 miles and see nothing but nature across small mountains and canyons all the way to the peaks of Angeles National Forest in the distance. The campsite is a large flat area. For a trailer or RV it's a great place to park and the view is towards wide open spaces. 2 nights at Tiny Home Cabin in the Hills
I was looking for a quiet place to relax and reset and this tiny cabin was perfect! I particularly loved having my morning coffee on the deck and listening to the ravens, red-tailed hawks, peacocks, and occasional whinny from the neighboring horse stables - it was peaceful and such a nice change from the sounds of the city only a few minutes away. Araceli is a wonderful host and made sure I knew my way around the features of the camp! I will definitely keep this in mind for if I need another LA-area staycation or if I need to recommend a great retreat to any of my friends.

Just stopped overnight to see the meteor shower. Nice dark big sky! The hosts are very kind. I arrived rather late, after dark, but they led me to the site graciously. There is a picnic table at both sites I saw, and a thoughtful box put out with lights, games and bug spray. Thank you!

Mary’s Zen Ranch was MAGICAL! So magical in fact, that after looking at the photos and reviews before booking, I decided it would be the place I’d propose to my partner at. And wow, it was the perfect place for us.
Besides the charm and amazing sunset views, the property you stay in is completely fenced in, so we were able to bring our two dogs with us and keep them off leash (something we never get to do while camping)!
And since only one party stays at the property at a time, it’s an incredibly private experience. Mary was wonderful, helping to walk us through how everything worked right when we arrived, and then leaving us to ourselves until check out where she congratulated us on our engagement and wished us happy travels.
We couldn’t have asked for a more eclectic and peaceful place to stay for 3 days, and if you’re big into camping and nature like we are, a proposal!! We celebrated with a spa day at Glen Ivy Hot Springs 30 minutes away, and I would highly recommend checking them out for a day of relaxation and wonder.
We can’t thank Mary enough, and we will hopefully be back!

This was my first time using Hipcamp and Mary's place was amazing! I was testing out car camping and it was the perfect spot for me to put the top down and sleep under the stars. It had all of the glamping amenities and was a super cute and quiet space. Mary was very helpful and kind and I loved meeting her animals as well! This was a sweet stop on my road trip from LA to Yosemite. Araceli greeted me even though I got in after dark, and gave me a thorough tour. I loved showering outdoors under the stars, the beautiful view in the morning, and the fact that the cabin had AC!! Truly one of the best glamping experiences.

Had a last minute trip to stay here and it was so lovely! The campground itself had a picnic table and a few tree stumps that could be used as chairs. We watched the sunset and overnight heard the sound of birds and crickets. In the morning we woke up and after we had made our own breakfast we went to feed the horse and see the goats and also feed their 70-year-old tortoise named Benito on the property. They provided us with some board games to play with at the campsite which was so thoughtful. I really loved staying here. It was a very great way to get to camp within an hour of Los Angeles. Would definitely recommend.

Arminda & Alex are the best hosts you could ask for. This place was easy to find, and the couple and their family were nothing but lovely. The camping spots were serene and private. The hiking was fantastic and when they asked if we needed anything at all, we inquired about forgotten batteries. Not only did they provide them for us, they went out of their way to get them. I recommend lots of sunscreen but all in all I will recommend this place to everyone and be going back myself soon in the future!

I loved camping at Fatima's site in Riverside. It was one of favorite
tent camping experiences on hipcamp. The hosts were welcoming and very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. I took the train into Los Angeles each to morning for sightseeing. Highly recommended and I will stay there again. Thanks again.

What a magical little place, and SO close to LA. I had a great weekend getaway with my 8 year old golden retriever. The bus was very charming, we were given water, and Brian even graciously left ice. We had firewood on site which helped not having to try to cram another thing in the car. The location is such a fun historic snapshot of an old summer camp, I did some exploring but wish I had the time to do even more.
I'd absolutely come back! One thing I'd do a little different, depending on the season I'm sure, is there's quite a bit of gnats swarming around. I'll come back with my canopy and have some nets around it to build a little safe zone around the picnic table.
I brought an electric off road bike with me, and I definitely recommend bringing some kind of bike to take the dirt roads for exploring! So much fun.

I loved camping here and they were amazing hosts!! We forgot coffee mugs and they brought us coffee mugs from their house. They have friendly dogs and chickens and all sorts of goods down by their house. The site is nothing to write home about, but large and spacious. The no fires rules makes a lot of sense given how dry it is here. The location is awesome, 15 minutes away from lake gregory which is great for trout fishing. (Pro tip use garlic power bait on a carolina rig) The site is about 30 minutes from arrowhead. 10/10 stay loved everything about it and can’t stress enough how kind the hosts were!! Would stay here again anytime.
