Our families heritage in the San Joaquin Valley is over 100 years, we are California grown! The land was purchased from the railroad in 1919 by Grandpa Coen when he immigrated to the USA after his service to the British Empire during WW1.
Grandpa established and maintained the vineyards during his life in California's Central Valley which he left to his daughter, Irene. She kept the farming tradition going with her husband, Al, and they expanded by purchasing surrounding land
and planting more vines.
Today their daughter, Cheryl, and son-in-law Randy, continues the family farming tradition for the next century.

Conveniently located right on Highway 180 - 8 miles outside of the entrance to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. This is the absolute most convenient spot for tourists headed into the park as it is the last stop before the park entrance. Although the property is currently going through transition, it is still a very charming peaceful and very special location.
Dispersed Tent sites are not yet clearly defined, so it is going to be first come first serve basis. We also offer a tent site that is setup for your arrival and 2 RV parking spots in our parking lot. This area is so peaceful, and I'm excited to share my space with you! I also run the lodge on site and make fresh coffee and espresso each morning. You are welcome to use the communal tables in the lodge, as well as the restroom during the day. In the evenings, we have a porta potty available!
I've owned the property since 2009 and am working on rebuilding and cleaning the property after the loss of my husband. Please be mindful that this is a work in progress but is in an absolutely ideal location, and I love hosting! Looking forward to seeing you.

Camp ikigai is a 72 acre farm/ranch stay near Sequoia-Kings (SEKI) Canyon Nat'l Parks. Rescued/EOL horses, sheep, chickens, and ducks freely roam the property. The property has a communal clubhouse with a fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, firepit, hot/cold showers, compost and pit toilets, and an above ground swimming pool. Our business is committed to inclusivity and respect for people from all backgrounds and a safe inclusive space for solo female travelers.
30 minutes from park entrance, 20 min from nearby lakes, 50 minutes from Fresno. 3 hours from SF, 3.5 from LA. We have running hot/cold water for our outdoor shower but NO flushable toilets. We have pit and compost toilets filled with cedar shavings for now!

If you're coming July-Mid August, please know it is HOT (95 average/75 night) and wildfires are a consistent threat. With that, wildfire prevention is a high priority. We have a lot of projects we have started and could use all the help we can get!

- gardening/greenhouse building
- event space building
- raising livestock
- medicinal plant growing + onsite apothecary (Come volunteer build the food forest and medicinal garden)

Our families heritage in the San Joaquin Valley is over 100 years, we are California grown! The land was purchased from the railroad in 1919 by Grandpa Coen when he immigrated to the USA after his service to the British Empire during WW1.
Grandpa established and maintained the vineyards during his life in California's Central Valley which he left to his daughter, Irene. She kept the farming tradition going with her husband, Al, and they expanded by purchasing surrounding land
and planting more vines.

Conveniently located right on Highway 180 - 8 miles outside of the entrance to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. This is the absolute most convenient spot for tourists headed into the park as it is the last stop before the park entrance. Although the property is currently going through transition, it is still a very charming peaceful and very special location.
Dispersed Tent sites are not yet clearly defined, so it is going to be first come first serve basis. We also offer a tent site that is setup for your arrival and 2 RV parking spots in our parking lot. This area is so peaceful, and I'm excited to share my space with you! I also run the lodge on site and make fresh coffee and espresso each morning. You are welcome to use the communal tables in the lodge, as well as the restroom during the day. We stay at Cheryl‘s vineyard over new year‘s eve. We needed a stay for the night spontaneously and were super happy, that Cheryl answered on our request so quickly. When we arrived we figured out, that we can‘t plug in the electricity hook up with our cable of the rental van and Cheryl offered us to park behind the shed to use the other hook up for her tractor. It was rainy and it was late and it was our second night with the van on new years, we are still thankful that she was available and helped us through the phone when we arrived! It‘s a super peaceful and quiet spot, exactly what we were looking for!

This was our first time using Hipcamp and we couldn’t have asked for a better first time site than Thistledew. My husband and I, plus our two dogs, loved the site.
Some highlights:
- It was incredibly spacious, quiet, and accessible.
- We felt comfortable letting our pups off leash due to how open and spacious the site was.
- The water and electricity hookups were a total plus!
- Michael was a great host and incredibly responsive to any and all questions.
- Sequoia/Kings Canyon entrance was a short 20 min drive away, so it was a perfect site for an easy day trip.
- The views were amazing.
Some additional notes for future campers (that are not at all a negative about the site)
- We were guided by our GPS to take Dry Creek Rd. This road is narrow and not suitable for wider cars. There is however a highway that also leads to the road that connects to the site. We recommend the highway for wider vehicles or those who are anxious about narrow roads.
- Yes, there is a road that is next to the site. Cars are incredibly few and far in between. The road is also a good distance from the site so not at all a danger to off-leash pups. The site was secluded, and I wouldn’t let the road be a deterrent in booking.
- Our 2WD vehicle made it just fine to the site.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and look forward to coming back!

This campground is great! Awsome views, great location, quiet and private. There was power and water for use. Plenty of flat areas for your tent and personal camp toilet. About 15 mins from the kings canyon gate and 1hr from general sherman tree. Nearest gas station and coffee shop is about 20 minutes away.

We stayed there as a halfway stop on our way to Joshua Tree. I’m originally from the Caruthers area, so i wanted to see the area after a 55 year absence. Cheryl was a responsive and welcoming host. She sent us the gate code and let us find our way. Clear directions and easy to find. Beautiful setting. It was a rainy night, so being under cover was nice.

The camp site is beautiful and set up for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The space also has amazing views of the stars at night. Our host was very kind and helpful. We got in late and Steven came out to greet us and then helped us navigate our trailer into the camp space in the dark. Our family had a great time and we would definitely recommend this site to other campers.
