1 night at Shasta Gardens

Great place with beautiful grounds! Shower was great, bathroom clean and great sink to use! Ali was so gracious and welcoming and we had a magical night underneath the tree!

My husband and I had the best time visiting this beautiful property. There were two RV spots and several tent spots. The groundskeeper, Alex was amazing! He was friendly and helpful. The bathrooms while rustic were clean. This was just the trip we were looking for. I would definitely go again.

1 night at Shasta Gardens

This place is super close to the highway, walking distance to town and has showers, oh and a restroom. The train rolls right by it though, and blares its horn lol. So if you’re looking for a quiet place this ain’t it. Other than that host was cool and we all gad a good time.

2 nights at Mimi’s Hideaway

Mimi is a delightful person and the site was lovely… right on a large meadow w/ a view of the lake. We spent hours chatting with her, watching the baby birds in her many birdhouses, and walking around the quiet and peaceful meadow.

Wonderful and peaceful place to stay. Kevin and his family are so friendly and kind. They are full of helpful information about the area and genuinely good people. The pool was nice, too, on those very hot days! Thanks again! Definitely recommend as a great place to stay.

Wonderful stay! We had a very relaxing evening having dinner on the porch and watching the sun set, the lake, and all the birds in their houses. Easy access to all hookups, good directions, and very well maintained accommodation.

Very peaceful and Kevin and his family are kind, welcoming, very helpful, and full of information about the area. Would definitely stay again and recommend others do too. Really enjoyed the pool as well on these hot days!

We loved it here. Ali is a great host. The outdoor showers were INCREDIBLE (such a luxury and really well attended to). The location (proximity to town/restaurants/etc.) and views can't be beat. We were so happy that we happened upon Ali's place. A fully positive review - where I'm only adding the below so that people who aren't amenable to the quirk of the spot don't stay and have a BAD time. As other reviews have noted, it's RIGHT on the train tracks - and if you're camping in your car (as we were), the camping spot is as close as you can get to the trains. (If in a tent you could set up further from the train and I think it would have just been a periodic low rumble) If we had realized that ahead of time we might not have booked/stayed but - honestly - we didn't mind it once we were there. We slept pretty well aside from an hour or so in the middle of the night when there was a high concentration of trains. But they did come periodically throughout the night.

4 nights at Mimi’s Hideaway

Mimi's Hideaway is lovely, and so is Mimi! After selling our cabin years ago, we had a wonderful time reconnecting with Chester, CA. We walked to the North Fork of the Feather River, rode our bikes down First to Lake Almanor, and walked the meadow each morning and evening. Our dog was in frisbee heaven, but was a little jealous of Indy - Mimi's well-mannered/behaved Border Collie. Indy was so tolerant of his grumpiness! Mimi has created a peaceful, relaxing spot adjacent to her home. She and her neighbors are friendly and welcoming. I will be back! Oh, and that freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious. Thank you, Mimi, for sharing your little bit of Chester beauty. It was such a pleasure getting to know you.

Weekend Trip to Camp Stoney Meadows

Nice RV and camping spots next to the creek and under large coniferous trees. Power for a fan, lights or coffeemaker. A kitchen with all the basics and well equipped with dish towels, sponges, dish soap as well as essentials like cooking oil and salt. A clean flush toilet and shower. Scott was friendly and helpful.

We had an amazing time! Beautiful setting - mountains, river, fields. My son rode his bike around and Scott was so kind and helpful. Nice amenities, kitchen, bathrooms and shower is clean. A bit of the beaten path but worth the extra effort. We will be back!

Nice place to park our rig backing up to a meadow and historic barn. Dog friendly and easy drive to Lake Almanor.

Perfect lil spot to be close to everything but tucked away enough to be relaxing. Pool was amazing on those hot days. Sweet family, very accommodating and helpfully kind. Looking forward to booking there again.

Scott and Nora's property is pretty neat. Scott fired up wood fire pizza oven and we got to make pizza from scratch! How amazing!! 100% recommended camping here. (Don't forget to pack insect and mosquito repellent with you.)

Cool experience. I stayed at the campsite for two nights with my 7-year old daughter. Ali was such a hospitable host. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable with tables, chairs, wood, showers and even fresh water from the mountain spring! The train passing several times in the middle of the night was slightly rough but I chalked it up as part of the overall experience :) Ali did offer earplugs to us for the train noise. Overall, excellent stay!

Super cool and thoughtful host—very accommodating and full of great local tips! As others have mentioned, being close to town has its pros and cons (yes, you’ll hear the train), but overall we had a great 4-night stay. It was great having access to a fridge and freezer too. Would definitely recommend!

Our 120 remote acres are adjacent to Shasta Trinity National Forest in the beautiful Cascade Range between Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta in Northern California. It's a working ranch with tree farms, animals, hydroelectric power, sawmill, gardens, orchards, creeks, springs, trails, and our camp alongside Kosk Creek. We're 54 miles from Redding off of 299E, (about 1-1/2 hour drive). DO NOT TAKE ROAD 11 FROM THE NORTH, IT IS CLOSED! PIease try to ignore the "car art" in the Pit River Tribe's Rancheria as you're coming here. Drive right through it, it's no reflection on us. The last mile or so of the road here can be pretty rough, but on arrival, you'll know it's worth the trip! No Cell phone service available here, so it's the perfect opportunity to unplug. We do have a land line up at the house in case of an emergency. Also, if you really need it, WiFi is available at the house.
