2 nights at Karla's Hummingbird Guest Ranch

My husband and I stayed at Karla’s Hipcamp for two nights and throughly enjoyed ourselves. I enjoyed several refreshing dips is the pool and my husband and I bird watched from her front porch in the early evening! The grounds are delightful with Karla’s many artistic creations and arrangements.

Karla’s Hummingbird will be at the top of my favorite places to stay. I hope she doesn’t get sick of us. Even with bad weather it was part of the experience. She's a great host and we can’t wait to go back.

Karla’s place exceeded our expectations, she has created a comfortable cowgirl chic oasis with lots of fun spaces to hang out. We had dinner in the shaded picnic area every evening, even though it was windy, the shade screens sheltered us. The view of the mountains is wonderful, the pool chilly but refreshing after hiking all day, and after dark the lighting is magical. Bathrooms and showers were clean, she lent us a 50-30 amp converter for our stay. Karla stopped by to see how we were doing but otherwise left us to do our own thing. She’s a wonderful host, hope we can make it back here again next year.

The site is absolutely spotless! Karla met us at the gate and walked us around the property. It is quiet and secluded, although she has 2 cheeky horses nearby. One kicks the stall (see cheeky!) and if youre not familiar with the sound it can be jarring. The whole property is decorated with whimsy and an eye for color. we ended up throwing an air mattress in the cabana instead of hassling with a tent and were quite comfy. Highly recommend.

Great experience with Taylor! She came out to meet me and drop off her homemade bread and jam which made me feel safer as a solo camper! The land is beautiful and the fireplace, shower, and chairs are super nice additions. The stars were INSANE! Really easy to find, too. It is off the highway, but after 6 it really quiets down and you feel pretty secluded.

Iron Quail is amazing. I can't say enough nice things. The hosts are super attentive and accessible. The sites are impeccable. The views spectacular, you're surrounded by breathtaking views 360⁰. The sunsets!!!!! The bathhouse is clean. Opt to have a mesquite pancake bfast. You won't be disappointed. Don't be concerned if you book the Kitt site and the proximity to the goats. They do not make a peep through the night.

Taylor was an excellent host. He was helpful throughout the entire process. We have a 3/4 ton Chevy truck and a 20 ft travel trailer. There was no problem driving past the gate (a smallish hill). Definitely keep the pooch on a leash because of cactus in the area. Gorgeous sunsets. Would stay here again.

Taylor and Steve offer a great spot to stay while traveling through the Tuscon area. The area is ideal for a van, RV or tent . The toilet onsite is clean and they even have a hot outdoor shower! Don’t forget about the fresh sourdough bread and prickly pear jelly. YUM. Would stay again. Thank you!

My family had a great time at Iron Quail Ranch. We enjoyed the beautiful views, goats, dogs, and chickens. My son really loved fresh goat milk from MooMoo. Mike was very friendly and we learned alot from him. The breakfast is delicious!

As advertised and reviewed, this is a fantastic spot for a couple days or more, amenities were very nice, very clean. Host is knowledgeable of the area, communicates well and ensures all guests feel welcome. I’ll definitely visit again, highly recommend if you are in the area.

We had an outstanding stay at the best Hipcamp ever! Karla is a welcoming, accommodating host, who worked her amazing artistry around her ranch to make it an intriguing camp for us. From the gorgeous pool to the magical evening lights and the friendly horses and the fun walking trails, this was an unforgettable experience for us, and we'll be back again. Hands down, we give this place a 5-star review!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will come back. Learning about the goat operation was a highlight along with the great shower and fresh eggs. We had a dog with us which probably caused the guardian dogs to bark more than usual. Noise sensitive people should probably choose the other campsite further from the goat pen. Thank you for creating such a lovely hip camp site.

Such a wonderful experience! I'll explain. . . I was recovering from both a pelvic fracture and vertebrae fracture. I wasn't sure I would be able to set up my tent etc. Karla was so kind and helpful. I slept in a horse stall and had a wonderful peaceful rest. The property is so well kept. Nice bathroom with hot water. Next morning Karla recommended I see The San Pedro Riparian Conservation Area . Thank you Karla for sharing your lovely home.

Beautiful space kept with care and talent by Karla. The garage with toilets, fridge and microwave makes a big difference. Our shelter was perfect to avoid the wind. There is also a nice pool ! We felt safe and welcomed.

Our tent site includes a deck platform with securement hooks to assemble your tent on and stay safely elevated off the ground. RVs welcome! We can currently accommodate up to a 36ft travel trailer or horse trailer with living quarters. This is a dry camp area. There is a portable toilet with sink for campers to utilize. We also have an Inverter as a rental option to provide power for an RVer if so desired. We can also fill Fresh Water Tanks for use while camping. We are currently working on a dump station. Also to ensure that we keep our little slice of heaven beautiful, please pack out what you pack in. Please do not leave trash or food at the campsites or leave food unsecured this will attract wildlife which will surely make your camping trip interesting. Our property is surrounded with views of Mount Lemmon, the Tortolita Mountain Park, Black Mountain, Newman Peak, and Picacho Peak. Come enjoy the prolific wildflowers of the desert bloom this spring! Campers can enjoy a warm beautiful sunset and star gazing in the evening, with views of the hazy band of the Milky Way and shooting stars next to the fire pit provided at each site. This is a safe place to get off the road for a bit, or to take a break from the busy/noisy city life, to relax and unwind in nature! Dogs are welcome, but please pick up after your pet! There is also a Round Pen provided for travelers with up to 2 horses with a fill station for water. Feed will be intermittently available to purchase for those in need. Welcome to Karla's Hummingbird Guest Ranch! All guests must be over the age of 18. My private horse property is located in the Sky Islands area of South Eastern Arizona. I have 2 horses and lots of local birds hang out here. I offer 2 full hook-up spaces, one space is covered. Power is 50 AMPS! An RV must be under 12' to fit under the cover. I offer 4 dry camping options. You can book the Tent Cabana-The Shady Rest- listing or you can dry camp by booking through my Tent and Vehicle Camping listing. There are no exact designated spaces for tent/vehicle camping. You can choose where you prefer to camp. I also have the Pool House, an indoor option with a power outlet, and it's close to the pool and restroom area. There is a restroom/breakfast room off the pool area. This is my private property, you and your gear are safe and secure. You can leave your campsite and go exploring, no one will bother your stuff. I have WiFi and great cell service here. You must arrive by dark. My gates will be closed at dark. At night you will hear coyotes, you might see javilina. I am located just over an hour away from Tucson and 25 minutes off the 10. My place is 10 minutes from Coronado National Forest. The property is tranquil, peaceful, and quiet. You will see a lot of quail and other birds on the property. There are 2 varieties of quail who visit daily. Dry campers- Off the pool area there is a clean restroom in my back garage and a sink with hot water. There is a clean refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker available for your use. Each tent, and/or a place where people sleep is a campsite....in other words you can't book 1 tent camping site and then add your friends who come in their vehicle and set up a campsite.
