3:10 to Dragoon
4 sites · Lodging, RVs1 acre · Dragoon, AZDragoon is rich in history and natural beauty. The name comes from the 3rd U.S. Calvary Dragoons who battled the Chiricahua Apaches here led by Chief Cochise during the Apache Wars. Nearby, you can visit the confederate graves and ruins of the Dragoon Springs Stage Station. About 20 minutes away is Cochise Stronghold, home and burial place of Chief Cochise and Chiricahua Nat'l Monument is about an hour away (great hiking and climbing!). Unique to this area are the amazing rock formations of pillars, balances, and stacked rocks caused by cooled volcanic granite 50 million years ago.  In addition, our area is home to hundreds of different bird species, the occasional Gila monster, coyotes, deer, and javalina.

Ranchito Paraiso - Benson
2 sites · Lodging3 acres · Benson, AZRanchito Paraiso is a desert paradise, seemingly remote, but just minutes from the town of Benson. Our neighbors tend to be javelina, owls and coyotes. There have been occasional bobcats and lynx. We live in a ranching community, so neighbors are few and far. (there is a KOA across the north side of our unpaved road). We love the stars and the moon and the quiet here at the Ranchito. It is a wonderful getaway. The views are phenomenal. Sunsets are magical and sunrises provide beauty and hope. We are within an hour’s drive to to Kartchner caverns. (10 mins), Tombstone (20mins), Bisbee, vineyards, Tucson (40 mins). We are 3/4 mile north of I-10 and one mile from the Amtrak line that runs between LA and Texas. San Pedro golf course is a few hundred yards away. We are turning the property into an artsy retreat with quirky yet elegant accommodations and a wonderful space to breathe, create, write, binge on Netflix, or just take a break to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine and bird watch. We are two miles from grocery stores, but you’d think we were totally remote. So far, we offer glamping in a lovingly renovated RV named Kassandra and a custom DIY tiny home (Kasita Morada) that guests find quite stunning (check out our reviews on short term rental sites under Ranchito- Paraiso Slice of Paradise in the Desert and Rustic Elegance in the Desert for Benson, AZ. I am a professional host and work hard to make your stay memorable, comfortable, and rustically elegant. We have over a hundred shade trees and property-wide wifi. The Ranchito has beautiful views and a peaceful space. Pets are welcome, but please keep on a leash as we do not have individual guest yards as of yet. We do have our two amazing potbelly pigs, Jonah and Benjamin, who roam and forage. They are sweet and sociable and would love fruit and veggie scraps. Please keep dogs away from them and keep ranch gate closed. There may be other guests and their pets present on the property.

The Greenhouse Trolley Hobby Fa
4 sites · Lodging4 acres · Hereford, AZIt was our dream to build a place of refuge for ourselves and others to share.  It's simple, rural, surrounded by the history of the old west.  The amazing garden was in sore neglect when we found it in 2015.  It is now alive and thriving; 15 raised beds of veggies, with culinary and medicinal herbs, grapevines, blackberries and elderberries, too.  With our own well (we just dug it this past July), our water is PURE; a 1500 gallon catch tank holds our beloved monsoon rains.  And in season, the figs are fabulous...and so are the pomegranates.  We cherish no street lights and dirt roads - peaceful and serene - endless skies, beautiful mountains.  If you love the land and the high desert, you will love it here!Learn more about this land:We have a 430 square foot western style bunkhouse with living/kitchen/dining area, private bath with shower only, one bedroom with queen bed.  Kitchen is equipped with electric stove/oven, full size refrigerator, with stylized washtub as kitchen sink.  Firestick TV, mini-split heating and cooling, with linens, coffee maker, dishes/pots and pans included.

Harry and Barbara’s Windmill
3 sites · Lodging, Tents20 acres · Mc Neal, AZWe purchased our 20 acre homestead 12 years ago. It had 100 year old windmill and we named the property ‘Windmill’. All structures were abandoned and unlivable at that time , the land had been overgrazed for decades. The saving grace was the water well, which produces sweet ,clear abundant 75 degree water so we new it was thermal spring water. Since buying the property we concentrated on restoring the land first ,bringing it back to its native beauty. Year round vegetable garden, honeybees, orchard and small vineyard followed suit. The adobe home and outbuildings and Sandhill (Crane) casita are restored with all recycle materials from the property. The 1.5 mile nature trail through grassland yucca mesquite landscape provides solitude and 360 degree views Sand over 150 mile view shed of the sky islands in US and Mexico. Along with our four children, this property is the joy of our lives.Learn more about this land:Flat, well maintained, Paved road accesses our 20 acre private wildlife sanctuary. Savanna Hermitage
4 sites · Lodging25 acres · AZThe Savanna Hermitage is a solo retreat space of 25 acres inspired by meditation, qigong, yoga, and solitude in nature. It is a small, quiet retreat oriented toward facilitating lifestyles and practices of higher consciousness to maximize human potential, allowing the host and guests to evolve toward becoming the most empowered and enlightened human beings they can be. As monks, hermits, sages, yogis, and other spiritual seekers and masters have been doing for millennia, the very simple lifestyle and practices minimize focus upon the lower chakra, lower consciousness physical realms of sensual indulgences and desires. This allows instead for the residents and guests to focus their time and energy more fully on the purely non-physical upper chakra, higher consciousness realms of non-attachment, equanimity, and pure higher awareness. Cultivating a meditative lifestyle of higher consciousness is the core foundational practice at the Savanna Hermitage. Many forms of meditation and higher consciousness practice are welcome, including zen, mindfulness, vipassana, transcendental, qigong, yoga, and others. Guests are encouraged to spend an average minimum of 2-3 hours a day practicing sitting, lying down, walking/hiking, movement meditation, qigong, yoga, and other higher consciousness practice, and are solitary and self-directed. The host is also available to facilitate meditation, qigong, and yoga practice upon request, and guests are welcome to share their practices with others upon request as well (optional). In addition to the solo practice space in each guest room, the Hermitage property also has an outdoor meditation/qigong/yoga circle for solo and group practice and also contains over a mile (1.6 kilometers) of walking meditation nature trails for guest use and enjoyment anytime. Endless miles of amazing hiking trails throughout the nearby Chiricahua mountains feature stunning rock formations, evergreen forests, and magnificent waterfalls. The host has been hiking there regularly over the past 15 years and is available to guide hikes upon request that engage the uniquely powerful earth energy by incorporating meditation and qigong. Mature, experienced, self-motivated, independent, and self-sufficient individuals with established higher consciousness practices and lifestyles, and high levels of physical, mental, and emotional health and stability are encouraged to apply. Support meetings are offered on a weekly or monthly basis where residents and guests are welcome to share how their practice is progressing, to identify areas for improvement, and request comments and advice from others. There is plenty of free time, and residents and guests are encouraged to utilize it to support their higher consciousness lifestyle through reading, walking, hiking, immersion in nature, contemplation, and deepening their meditation and higher consciousness practices. Guests are encouraged to practice digital minimalism, i.e. minimizing the amount of time online, and staring at a screen. Aside from phone service, there is no internet on site, and more than the very occasional use of videos, movies, television, and social media is discouraged. There is good cellular phone reception that can be utilized as a wifi hotspot as necessary, and there is broadband internet and books available at a nearby public library. The Hermitage also has a small collection of excellent books available for guests' use. The Savanna Hermitage is a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for women, LGBTQ individuals, and people of color. Discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation is prohibited, and all residents and guests must refrain from sexual/romantic advances toward others during their stay. Absolutely no alcohol, tobacco, cannabis/marijuana, or other drugs are allowed on site. Candles, incense, and any type of open flame or fire are prohibited in all buildings and throughout the Hermitage property.

Behr Art
6 sites · Lodging2 acres · NMI am a working artist of many mediums; ceramics, copper, painting, collage, et al and proprietor of Behr Art Gallery & Gifts. Alongside this work, I  design spaces and events,  host workshops, markets, annual festivals, officiate weddings, and make my ever-morphing property available for others to share and enjoy. To that, I've spent nearly every day designing, decorating, reconstructing, reconfiguring and reworking this historic property, farm and gardens. The structures I've built and designed that are available for your retreat include the CABIN, the LOTUS, the  POND HUT and the TREE HOUSE.The Cabin  was  once a bunkhouse. The previous owners moved it (rolled it on logs) to its present location.  In doing so, the floor joists needed to be reattached and a foundation was constructed to stabilize the building. My brother and I cut, fitted, mudded, tied, nailed, plumbed, electrified  and created a marvelous space.  This is otherwise a working art studio,  organic farm and orchard, with ponds, shade trees, peace, quiet and some of the darkest skies for star gazing in the nation. My backstory:A Connecticut native, I moved to Silver City/Pinos Altos New Mexico in 1970 and then  to Glenwood in 1982. For twenty-two of those years, I lived on a ranch with a herd of horses and two donkeys, and my passion was endurance riding. After thousands of training hours, competitive miles, and sponsoring the Scorpion Sting Endurance Ride, I  gave it up for the life I now live on this land.

Sunny Tucson offers the best of southern Arizona, with glittering skyscrapers set against mountain silhouettes. While cabin rentals will place you further out of the city, the drive is worth it for the beauty you will find. You'll feel like you are camping inside of Saguaro National Park with a desert cabin surrounded by towering cacti. For an authentic Old West experience, stay in a cabin on a working ranch. Public cabin rentals are available in the Coronado National Forest. Take the Sky Island Scenic Byway to reach the higher elevations, leaving the Sonoran Desert habitat for a subalpine forest. Tucson cabin rentals come in all shapes and sizes, from rustic chalets to larger, luxury retreats. Many offer kitchens, bathrooms, free wifi, and more amenities. The best amenity, however, might be the skies visible in the night skies above. In the city, the Fourth Avenue District is a feisty arts district, burgeoning with galleries and restaurants.
