We are ten miles from the closest town on a dirt road in the Prescott National Forest. The camping is primitive and there are many suitable places for you to put up a tent. We will provide a bucket with woodchips for your bathroom needs. This is an off-grid experience, please expect that there are no amenities. You will need to bring everything you need, including toilet paper! There are great hikes around us in the National Forest. Camping here in Coconino County north of Ash Fork and Seligman, down 10 miles of isolated dirt road - this is far enough away to feel remote and surrounded by nothing but ancient trees. Yet there are many cool destinations not far away: Once you get out to the highway, Williams is 30 minutes away so you can plan you visit to the Grand Canyon or ride the Grand Canyon Railway. Another 30 minutes in that direction to reach Flagstaff with its skiing, nightlife, observatory, and eclectic culture. Continue exploring and you can visit the red rocks of Sedona, the natural caves of Peach Springs, and the crystal-blue waterfalls at Havasupai. While you're camping, enjoy the peace and quiet surrounded by meadows and ancient Juniper trees. Bring your fifth wheel, camper, toyhauler, or even your tent. Bring as many friends with you as you'd like - there's plenty of space. Sit around a campfire of sweet-smelling Juniper wood while you roast marshmallows. Depending on the time of year, hunting may be in season, with Deer and Elk. Remember that hunting is permitted if you have a valid hunting license, on the adjacent mile-wide parcel of State Trust land sprawling out to the west of the property. If the weather is dry, just about any kind of car, truck or trailer can make it down the 10-miles of dirt road to get to the property. There will also be snow in the wintertime - so plan accordingly for mud, ice, and rough roads. But most of the year is easy as long as it's dry!

When we moved in, for the first week, every morning a hummingbird was sipping nectar from one of our plants in the front yard. We knew it was meant to be. So we added a couple of horses to our dream, built some stalls, and now are ready to welcome you to La Hacienda Chuparosa. We know you will find the same magic here that we do.

We are the closest town to the Grand Canyon SKYWALK, which is just 40 minutes from us. Meadview, the town we are located, is the only place to obtain Free Entree to the Lake Mead Recreational Center. Our Campground just 10 miles from Lake Mead and 17 Miles from the Colorado River. We have outstanding Lookouts, Top notch Stargazing, Gold Prospecting, Bird Watching, Fishing, Off Roading etc. Some of the Best Desert Off-Roading through trails within the Joshua Tree National Forest, Please note you must bring your own OHV, horse, etc, there is currently no rentals available. We do have Kayaks to rent upon arrival. There is a hidden water fall in the Grapevine Wash that you can get to with a 4 wheel vehicle and you hike in about 15 minutes in. Stunning views and gorgeous natural spring and waterfall. We are 45 minutes off the 93 Freeway Free WIFI provided at the office!.. The town doesn't always have a powerful signal, please keep that in mind in your travels. However, if you have Verizon, it gets GREAT service! There are three restaurants in town, all just one mile from site... The Boathouse, Anchor Smokehouse and Fishermans Landing Bar. We have a Bakery called Rosemary and Thyme that serves Delicious foods & Pastries and makes great coffees. There is also a Gas n Grub that has ice, propane etc... 5 miles away is a Family Dollar store which we lovingly call the "Mall of Meadview"

The main camping area is a flat area on the mountainside East of Summerhaven, with a steep approach (be prepared!). The view from the area is great, and the area has some pines, as do the neighboring properties. Turkey cross the property seasonally, as well as the occasional deer. This is a leave no trace site. The site is current undergoing enchancements, so there will be evidence of demolished boulders, landscaping, and fencing. The site is safe to traverse, but care should be taken to avoid rock and uneven terrain, fence posts, and so on. Usage of the site is at your own risk. Toilet and waste: A bucket toilet is provided, with composting bags. Toilet waste, as well as other waste, must be taken with you, when you leave; there is no trash service. There are sometimes dumpsters in town that can be used to dispose of waste. The bucket toilet consists of a bucket, bucket seat, funnel, and hose. The consumables are composting toilet bags, wood shavings/chips, and toilet paper. You do not need to use the funnel and hose, but may if you wish. At a minimum, place the bag into the bucket, with the bag edge over the edge of the bucket, and place the bucket seat onto the bucket. The bucket seat should firmly fit onto the bucket, and retain the bag. When your stay is complete, please make sure the seat and bucket are clean, as well as the funnel and hose, if you used them. Please make sure all supplies are returned to the Toilet Supplies container. Directions: The address is 12672 N Ray Ave. Make your way to the intersection of N Sabino Canyon Parkway and Retreat Rd. in Summerhaven, AZ. Head east up the steep Retreat Rd., and make the right onto Tucson Ave., followed by a quick left onto what Google says is Ray Ave. Make an immediate right onto N. Ray Ave, and follow the dirt road until a steep driveway on the left appears. This driveway (and the other entrance 100 ft further on) provide access to the land. If trying to park off the driveway, enter the first driveway entrance to drive forward onto the approach and park, or enter the second driveway and then back onto the approach and park. Once parked (See Parking for additional instructions), access the land from the driveway according to the images. Parking: WARNING: Do not park on the driveway itself. There is a half-moon driveway that provides a way to either drive forward or backward onto the approach. Park on the (1) dirt approach to the land, just off the steep driveway, or (2) on the half moon parking spot at the top of the driveway, or (3) at the bottom on Ray Ave, out of the way. If any vehicles are blocking vehicular access to the dirt approach to the land, please contact me. Recreation: The shops of Summerhaven are close. Marshall Gulch is a popular recreation area on the Arizona Trail, South of Summerhaven. There is also a lot of opportunity to hike and rock climb on the area. We had a lovely stay at Gary and Daren’s! The views were lovely, and there were lots of little nature walks around the area which were peaceful and quaint. The facilities were great! Hot showers, and a nice little common room with cooking facilities, water, towels, dishes, coffee, etc. Gary was very welcoming and accommodating. There’s lots of attention to detail and love invested in this space! We would definitely stay here again!

I can’t say enough good things about our experience at sacred Springs. But before I get to the property, let me tell you about the hosts. We had first planned on going to the property a month ago and had some serious car troubles that made that journey impossible. I’m pretty cynical, so typically anywhere that I’ve paid some amount of money to put a deposit down and circumstances have come up that impacted our ability to get somewhere ,not the place we were going, I usually just consider the deposit given as a loss. Never to be see again. “ thanks for playing, but sorry we have to keep your money because we are uncaring un-empathetic, greedy bastards.” That was not even remotely close to the experience we had BEFORE even making it there. We reached out to inform Gary and Darrell that we would be unable to make it, sadly but would be looking forward to coming in the future. These remarkable gentlemen who were so kind throughout the entire communication process before we even booked, continued this kindness and added empathy and sympathy for our situation. Still emailing and talking to us while we were in the midst of a horrific experience with our vehicle, not near our home and dealing with the costs and every other negative you could have. These two were like a ray of sunshine. Their gracious and sincere words in the emails and their hospitality and generosity is like nothing I’ve seen in years… decades even. They refunded us and offered a complimentary stay.

Great spot to stay while exploring the Prescott area! Nice level spot with everything we needed- electric, water, sewer, fire pit and wood! Max went above and beyond to make sure we knew how to get there, where to park and to make sure we were comfortable. Bonus- we got to see javelinas every day! Beautiful, well-maintained property overlooking I-17. My wife and I only stayed for a short time, but it was great! There was a hot shower and a flush toilet, which was a savior considering that our campervan's toilet wasn't working (don't rent a van from IndieCampers). There were a bunch of other amenities provided as well, and Gary was super nice and welcoming. The ONLY thing I think could be improved is that my tired brain could not figure out which direction to turn the faucet in the shower for hot water, but that was mostly my fault 😁

Laura was super sweet! There were very clear instructions on how to get in! The bathroom was super clean it had a flushing toilet and running water. She also had farm animals that were so friendly. Her dogs are the absolute cutest and super friendly! The campsite was so nice and very spacious. It had a table and fire pit with logs to sit on! The walk to the creek was super pretty and well maintained! We really enjoyed staying here!

Beautiful property near the creek. Clean with a nice little bathroom set up. Laura was incredibly helpful and nice. Got a peek at the alpacas and goats in the morning. Some freeway noise from busy I-17, but other than that perfect place.

Weekend Trip to Sacred Springs-Private creek access

Our group of 4 absolutely loved this beautiful campsite for its scenic views, spacious site, and fun trail that led down to the creek. We were happily surprised by all of the paddle boards and kayaks readily available for us to use as a group of 4 to explore the water and gorgeous fall colors! Gary is hands down the best host with how attentive, caring, and kind he was to us. My husband and I didn’t have the best sleeping bags for the 40-degree nights, so Gary was kind enough to let us borrow 2 sleeping bags that allowed us to sleep so much better the second night of our stay. We cannot wait to come back to Sacred Springs again soon!

We loved our time here! It was very peaceful and the large trees made it very private. Laura was a wonderful host, making sure we had everything we needed. There’s a nice walk to the creek and the alpacas and goats were fun to see. We would stay here again!

We loved to cabin on Jason’s land. Incredibly serene with a great view. Close to Old Town Cottonwood and many outdoor adventures. His cabin was very grounding and allowed us to fully relax.

The Otterlimits was the perfect spot for us to regroup on our road trip. The mesquite grove lends to the peaceful atmosphere. The property itself, butts up to the National Forest, and is a short walk to the Verde River, and a floaters take out. On down the road is an amazing view of the river and rock formations, with a view of cliff dwellings and picnic tables. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!

This is a special site nestled in a mesquite grove, and within walking distance of the Verde River. It butts up to National Forest lands, and has a scenic view down the road of cliff dwellings. It is truly a space to relax and unwind with a sense of timelessness.

1 night at Ash Creek: Canyon Views & History

Loved this secluded canyon! Met Andrew by the highway, which was already way out there, then followed him on his quad in my 21' class-B van for 3 or 4 miles to campsite #2. Dislodged my low hanging generator on the rough road, but I knew it was a risk. Well worth it. This property had absolutely no noise or light pollution. It was an old mining town with several old mines still open to explore. I had an unforgettable few days secluded on this property. Zero cellular coverage with Verizon and Wi-Fi wasn't on while I was there. I thoroughly enjoyed my unplugged time. I will definitely be returning.

From the very beginning, our hosts Gary and Daren were exceptional — incredibly kind, thoughtful, and great communicators both before and during our visit. They went above and beyond to help us celebrate my birthday weekend with family, making extra accommodations that made the trip feel truly special. The property itself is magical. The sunsets were breathtaking, the land peaceful and full of beauty. We loved exploring the hike down to the canyon and creek — it felt like a hidden paradise. The paddle boards and kayak added so much fun to our days, and every part of the stay felt relaxing and rejuvenating. You can tell Gary and Daren pour their hearts into this place. It’s the perfect mix of comfort, adventure, and serenity. We can’t wait to come back! 🌿✨

Weekend Trip to Verde River Vortex

Our host went above and beyond to make everything about this experience amazing. The stay was so soulful. We took the opportunity for river kayaking, and it was made so easy with our hosts help. We were blessed to be able take the time to spend a quiet day painting rocks and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. A few nights under the stars on the loft deck were the reset we needed. Can’t boast more about this stay. Highly recommend all of it.
