Our 10x12 foot canvas safari tent offers a cozy 120 sq ft of space which can accommodate a twin size mattress in addition to the provided queen bed.

Guest access
Folklore Forest is on 3 acres and has 270 feet of River Frontage at your disposal. Little River is considered to be the purest, natural flowing river in the state. Bring your fishing gear and kayaks. Sit on the rocks at the base of the waterfall under the rhododendrons and holly trees, and wade in the water in the warm months.
Park on the side of the road in front of the Cynefin sign. There are solar lights illuminating the path to the tent if you arrive after dark. There you will find a that you can use to bring your luggage down.
Other things to note
• The river will rise and fall depending on how much rain we are getting. It tends to be lower late summer to early fall. We cannot guarantee water levels.
• This is primitive off grid camping. There's no electricity or running water. We recommend bringing a portable battery pack to charge devices.
• Please be respectful of any wildlife (there are white tail deer, raccoons, weasels, harmless black snakes, mink, foxes, coyotes, many birds, and the extremely, and we do mean extremely, rare black bear), while fishing in the little river is allowed, hunting is prohibited.

For casual campers we have the Wooded Campsite which is easy to access, and for more experienced campers wanting a little more of a hike we recommend the Secluded Grove campsite. The land from bottom to top of the mountain is designed as a 5 part pilgrimage, and how high up the mountain you can get can be used to evaluate your spiritual and physical fitness. WLCC minister Aron. the campsite host is typically available for Guided pilgrimage hikes and if the weather cooperates, and if your party is tough enough, and doesn't mind a little scrambling and getting dirty, you can also see the mandala cliff cave which only maybe 1 in 5 groups make it to is true test of skill to get there to complete the final step of the pilgrimage. Most campers choose to self explore and there are many beautiful sights to see with trail going up the mountain, or you can just chill with the view of your campsite if you prefer. As you ascend Sand Mountain, the vegetation thins revealing spectacular views of Lookout Mountain especially in the fall & winter months after the leaves have fallen. At the very top of the property are 30+ ft high cliffs. There is a cliff cave that has a colorful collection of lichen growing in it and we have named it our 'Mandala cave', but access is subject to weather and requires Guide to access. If you enjoy bush craft, there is plenty of material for you to build a lean-to, tipi, or structure of choice. Trees range from poplar to multiple species of oak. Natural wildlife include deer, wild turkeys, scorpions, and ticks. Pets are welcome, and be advised we have a male cat who will likely hide if you bring dogs but won't bother you. If you need assistance minister Aron, campsite host lives on site in the custom earthbag parsonage, and is also available for earthbag building workshops and guided hikes for nominal donation of $5. All funds from hipcamp donations go to Whole Life Center Church s.s.m, the Freedom religion (wholelife.cc) for improving religious pilgrimage experience. Our church creed is Freedom is Universal. Through camping and nature you can experience God.

Three years ago our multi-generational family decided to go on an adventure. We had talked about moving to the woods for years, but finally decided to turn our dreams into reality. After hiking through what felt like every property for sale over 100 acres in North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, we finally found the perfect spot.
Why do we call our property Whippoorwill Woods? Did you know that whippoorwills don’t nest in trees? They lay their eggs on the ground in the forest. They’re birds that love camping! As soon as we heard the whippoorwills start singing in the spring, we knew it was the perfect name.
We’re so excited to share our property with campers who love nature as much as we do. We specifically set up the campsites to give as much privacy as possible. We hope you’ll come visit and soak up the bird songs, the wind in the trees, and the beautiful sunsets over the mountains. We have 20 acres of savannah grassland full of native plants and wildflowers and over 80 untouched acres full of awesome rock formations and creeks with waterfalls available for you to hike. There's a stocked fish pond for catch and release fishing and a gorgeous view overlooking the Cumberland Plateau and the Sherwood Valley.
Experienced and beginner campers are welcome! We live on one side of the property, so we’re available to assist (setting up tents for the first few times is no joke!) or we’re happy to give you as much space and solitude as you need. We have three campsites available in the native savannah grassland, and one that is a "hike-in and choose your favorite spot in the woods" site. We have a porta-potty available, but if you're hiking in, you'll want to bring some WAG bags with you. If you have any questions, or if there’s anything we can do to help, don’t hesitate to ask!

We enjoyed our evening stay here! We’d definitely like to come back. Besides the train sometimes (which we didn’t mind AT ALL) it was so peaceful. Lots of space to roam, and the owner was kind and knowledgeable about the area which was nice. It rained while we were here and hearing the raindrops on the yurt top was so soothing. Stayed dry as well.

My bestie and I spent two nights at Fireside Camp in the Cabin on the Bluff, and it was such an incredible experience. Nick and Sydney were perfect hosts! The cabin was clean, cozy, and comfortable, and the views from the bluff were absolutely unforgettable. I highly recommend staying here if you get the chance. There’s amazing hiking and rock climbing just minutes away, and their property is truly beautiful!

This is a beautiful property with lots of interesting things to see. Robby is a very nice host and met us on our way in to explain the property and give some tips about hiking trails. He graciously let us switch sites once we arrived because my kids really liked the large hammock at a different site that wasn't occupied that night. There was already a tent set up, which was really nice so we could get right to enjoying the outdoors. We enjoyed hiking and seeing Civil War era rifle pits. Access was easy with our low ground clearance cross over SUV and probably even a regular car would be fine. The woods are so peaceful and we will definitely be back!

We loved tent camping on the farm. Easy to get to, Janna was so nice and happy and welcoming when I called her to let her know we arrived, there were so many cute farm animals! There was pretty much always at least one animal by our tent site at all times, even at night you would see their shawdows walking by and hear them munching on grass. The tent site had plenty of room to spread out and it felt private, and it was near the bathroom. If you want to literally be in the middle of a farm, this is the place to do it!

Beautiful property. Peaceful and quiet. The outdoor shower was warm and wonderful! The porta-potty really is very clean.
I tent camped and didn’t realize there was a street light that would be illuminating the post of the field I picked until after I was all set up and too tired and dark to move. Otherwise, everything was perfect.
I highly recommend camping here.

Lovely place ! Although- there were lots of dogs nearby that were active & loud until after midnight. (Maybe a kennel nearby, or just a very active local pack of coyotes?!? Not sure…)
One dog just barked & barked & barked nonstop & then some others would all join in occasionally. Also- a stray dog did wander through in the middle of the night. Didn’t bother me in my tent. But if you have pets with you, just be aware; when I was leaving the area the next day I saw 2 strays just strolling down the side road a ways away.
The land is gorgeous & sometime after midnight and throughout my morning coffee it was super peaceful.

Amazing place. Perfect mix of outdoor experience while keeping amenities like a kitchen, shower, indoor cabin for those less accustomed to camping. We got to see some really cool birds too, heard some owls at night. And great price too. Would definitely return

We liked the camp site (2), but the showers need work. One shower didn’t work at all and the second had a door about off its hinges. The area was somewhat noisy from a train close by. Overall it was a good and offered beautiful views, we would stay there again.

Great spot for accessing foster and Denny to climb. Plenty of room and access to tables, Fire pits, shower (with hot water!!). Overall fantastic. Will choose this over sites at foster from now on.

Cute and easy camping spot that I would definitely recommend. A couple other campers but we weren’t bothered or anything. The farm dogs were super friendly and protected and barked at us and the animals.
