For casual campers we have the Wooded Campsite which is easy to access, and for more experienced campers wanting a little more of a hike we recommend the Secluded Grove campsite. The land from bottom to top of the mountain is designed as a 5 part pilgrimage, and how high up the mountain you can get can be used to evaluate your spiritual and physical fitness. WLCC minister Aron. the campsite host is typically available for Guided pilgrimage hikes and if the weather cooperates, and if your party is tough enough, and doesn't mind a little scrambling and getting dirty, you can also see the mandala cliff cave which only maybe 1 in 5 groups make it to is true test of skill to get there to complete the final step of the pilgrimage. Most campers choose to self explore and there are many beautiful sights to see with trail going up the mountain, or you can just chill with the view of your campsite if you prefer. As you ascend Sand Mountain, the vegetation thins revealing spectacular views of Lookout Mountain especially in the fall & winter months after the leaves have fallen. At the very top of the property are 30+ ft high cliffs. There is a cliff cave that has a colorful collection of lichen growing in it and we have named it our 'Mandala cave', but access is subject to weather and requires Guide to access. If you enjoy bush craft, there is plenty of material for you to build a lean-to, tipi, or structure of choice. Trees range from poplar to multiple species of oak. Natural wildlife include deer, wild turkeys, scorpions, and ticks. Pets are welcome, and be advised we have a male cat who will likely hide if you bring dogs but won't bother you. If you need assistance minister Aron, campsite host lives on site in the custom earthbag parsonage, and is also available for earthbag building workshops and guided hikes for nominal donation of $5. All funds from hipcamp donations go to Whole Life Center Church s.s.m, the Freedom religion (wholelife.cc) for improving religious pilgrimage experience. Our church creed is Freedom is Universal. Through camping and nature you can experience God.

Dark Hollow Park provides beautiful, private, and secure primative campsites. Potable water and a composting privey are available. The camp host is on site if there are any questions. There is a one-mile hiking trail, a small stream and waterfalls located a short hike down into Dark Hollow. The abundance of birds is amazing! The Hollow is rich in history. There is a small Amphitheater in the bottom of the hollow where permanent water remains year-round. Dark Hollow has played many roles from sanctuary to battleground over the years. There are numerous activities within a short distance.

I really really enjoyed tent camping at River Ranch! The land is beautiful. There are a few trails that you can walk along the river and see the wildlife. Doni and Laiza ,were very responsive to any questions that I had during my stay and made suggestions on where to walk and what to look out for as far as wildlife. My experience was a 10 out of 10! I will definitely be back soon.

Well kept, shady spots (1-3). Site #1 looks out over a beautiful pasture where we repeatedly saw deer grazing. Convenient to town but not within walking distance. Would definitely choose this site if in the area again. Our host, William was responsive to email requests and questions.

The river right next to the site was so nice. It was great to have the deck and the covered area that we used as a camp kitchen. We put up two tents around the fire ring and had plenty of room. Access to the river is direct and easy. There was an area the dogs were able to use to get in and out as well. It wasn’t muddy and we didn't have any trouble getting to the site in our 2wd trucks. The provided directions were very clear and easy to follow. The neighbors do have a driveway that passes near the site, but they weren't disruptive or traveling in and out after quiet hours.

Deer Valley RV Park was so clean and tranquil. It's my favorite from all my travels. It's small and I love that as we travel without pets or children. Bill was a terrific host. We loved our stay. It does not have a bath house or washing machines. We just went to a laundry mat.

Exactly as described! We had a GMC SUV with AWD and made it up the hill just fine. (No mud while we stayed, thankfully or we would have walked up) Aron was very kind, and stood around in the 95 degree heat to answer our questions about the area. Great spot, can't recommend enough!

Overall loved my stay and will be back. Host was extremely accommodating and pleasant to meet. The site had level areas and room for multiple people! You can hear the neighbors and their dogs but I still found it very private. There's still plenty of birds to hear ☺️ The host has set up a beautiful gazebo with a large fan that my dog really enjoyed. I slept on the porch swing and it was so nice. The only real issue was that I barely managed to pull my truck into the site and had to get help getting out because it was a super tight squeeze. The host has an area right before you pull in that you can park at so ask him about it! I was going to stay longer but someone had booked - if it is available I would definitely consider booking this spot!

This campsite is so easy to camp at. Danny has Dark Hollow so well setup, maintained, and organized. The property has everything a tent camper looking for a creek spot to leisurely explore.
We tent camped for 2 nights. I have a small car, which allowed me to pull right up to the campsite we chose, named “The Ledge.” We had a fire pit, picnic table, immediate trailhead access, and a view I dream of waking up to always.
We spent hours exploring the creek, laying out in the sun, birdwatching, and more. The trails are easy to follow, however, you need hiking boots. I would say the trails we did were easy with moderate-difficult areas depending on how far you decide to go.
If you are someone who loves simple outdoor camping, book a few nights at Dark Hollow. There is an outdoor propane powered shower at the top of the campground, an outhouse toward the bottom/middle, a spigot for utility water, and trash cans. There is an option to add on firewood; I didn’t have to haul bundles of it in my tiny car.
Oh, man. We had the best time here.
I highly suggest Dark Hollow for tent campers who want to explore outside of public parks.

We got to meet the hosts this time and they were wonderful and gave us fresh blueberries from their own blueberry bushes. :) we love this spot because are dogs can be (mostly) free to hang out and swim. I traveled from California to take my grandkids camping. George was an amazing host!!!
He was communicative and flexible. when plans had to change due to medical stuff.
The site was well designed and surprisingly well equipped.
The camp kitchen had all the basics plus. I have a trailer with all my gear so I was grateful to have all the items forgot readily available.
The cabin was bigger than expected. We spent a rainy afternoon playing games and napping.
Great combination of convenience and real comping!!

Excellent place, beautiful camp sites. Lots of firewood available. Take a hike down into the hollow... it lives up to its name. Its dark and spooky down in the bottoms following the trails down. There's showers and bathrooms available. It's a quiet place, very secluded and feels safe. We were the only people there that night and still felt very safe. There's a gated entrance that's locked at night so nobody can just wander in. Im looking forward to cooler weather so we can return.
